The public is not confused anymore! thanks to SB428 it is now a marine mammal park for people to enjoy the seals. before SB428 the seals would have been removed and they would have been safe in there natural environment, but thanks to the amendment of the trust by you blind selfish seal worshipers you have created a joint use beach because Parks are for the enjoyment for people not seals, Reserves are for animals just like the cove... that is why there is no enforcement of the MMPA by NOAA .

This is just ridiculous! This beach has belonged to the seals ever since I can remember. Each time I've been down there, I've gotten some really great photos of the seals from the beach. They are living creatures and deserve some respect and privacy. Glad to hear that the rope is back in place.

While both sides of the debate here have some merit, the fact is that the seals were settled here and have no other sanctuary along this particular stretch of coast line to go and be safe but us humans can go to many many other spots to swim. Even if the seals were never there I would not have my children swim in this cove anyway as there are plenty of other spots to go to.

This is so outrageous that I don't know what to think. People have NO RESPECT! Seals are dangerous and can cause sickness if you touch them. Keep the rope up and stupid people away from the seals. Is this what we have come to??? I can't even believe what I am seeing. I was on a seal rescue team on Nantucket Island and we were never allowed to get close and we were helping them.

Let's face it: most people are morons, particularly when it comes to respecting the boundary between all things wild and human activity. The rope barrier needs to be put up again. Eventually, of course, someone will get bitten, there will be a major outcry, and the seals will be driven off the beach, losing yet another vital post-calving 'rest stop' to human encroachment.

I should have been at every protest, signed every letter to the council members, and contacted council members on behalf of the seals. I should have done more. These people on the video were most likely tourists who thought that if there was no rope, that it was okay to get close to the seals. Thank you to the people who have put forth the effort to help the seals, especially the APRL. I pledge to do what I can to prevent future harassment of the seals. Any one else?

I'm a wildlife rehabilitator in Los Angeles, CA. When we see these animals on the beach we put up emergency tape with sticks to protect them from people. Could someone do that and maybe people take turns protecting the animals? This is horrible. Someone could get bitten besides the animals are being harassed.

im all for the rope but dont see how this was taken as horrible by the seals. they seemed quite nonchalant about the whole thing. the comments so far seem over reactive and easy to use as the brunt of jokes by those who hold opposing views. for example the comment about wanting 'to taser' some of the parents who brought their kids close to the seals. how about non-violence toward all creatures, even if they hold opinions different from your own?
