Video courtesy of Marjane Aalam the one who was arrested for assault and battery on a little girl for going down on a public man made beach to see the seals...
The public is not confused anymore! thanks to SB428 it is now a marine mammal park for people to enjoy the seals. before SB428 the seals would have been removed and they would have been safe in there natural environment, but thanks to the amendment of the trust by you blind selfish seal worshipers you have created a joint use beach because Parks are for the enjoyment for people not seals, Reserves are for animals just like the cove... that is why there is no enforcement of the MMPA by NOAA .
This is how to solve the problem- allow the people to interact with the seals. Let natural selection run it's course and maybe some of these brainless morons will have their fingers bitten off. And they should sue San Diego for failing to protect them from themselves.
Guaranteed, if this happens there will be a chainlink fence installed nearly overnight.
The city will be bled dry by the lawyers eventually. Might as well let Darwin have a laugh.
Cleverly edited to make it longer. At :28 you can hear a child say "I just came down here to see" and you can also see the kid touch the tail. At 3:20 this repeats.
@sealwatchsandiego The truth is there is no emergency thanks to Bryan "Stun Gun" Pease and BTW he is the only one clubbing seals on this beach with slanderous unsigned court declaration's. That just shows how violent and your disregard for the law you so called seal protectors are... Assault & Battery w/ and w/out a stun gun Harassment Terrorism Vandalism Stocking Theft of property Prevaricator Slander Libel Lawyer Frivolous Lawsuits Violation of Municipal Codes and a Sloppy film editor
@inkybody Almost as stupid as the ASSHOLES who assult innocent beachgoers for useing an innocent public beach. I saw the maker of this vidio SPIT on a 5 year old child.
So how long before someone's 3 year old gets bitten and the parents sue the city? Unfortunately the ropes are needed to save stupid people from themselves. These are wild animals people!
This is just ridiculous! This beach has belonged to the seals ever since I can remember. Each time I've been down there, I've gotten some really great photos of the seals from the beach. They are living creatures and deserve some respect and privacy. Glad to hear that the rope is back in place.
somebody needs to start clubbing these things .....childrens pool... what the fuck are these seals doing here when did san diego become part of northern cal
Unbelievable! Who are these parents that let their kids touch a wild creature? they stand there watching.. what if the kid got bit? Oh then there would be hell to pay. And the blonde asking why cant she touch them?? Seriously??? Are people that stupid? TG the rope is staying up. I really didnt think people would act like this but I guess I gave humans too much credit. Leave the seals alone.
While both sides of the debate here have some merit, the fact is that the seals were settled here and have no other sanctuary along this particular stretch of coast line to go and be safe but us humans can go to many many other spots to swim. Even if the seals were never there I would not have my children swim in this cove anyway as there are plenty of other spots to go to.
This is exactly why the barrier needs to be there. As someone said most of these people were probably tourists who assume that being allowed to go down means its ok but they are unfortunately obliviots who don't regard the sanctity of an animals habitat.
This is so outrageous that I don't know what to think. People have NO RESPECT! Seals are dangerous and can cause sickness if you touch them. Keep the rope up and stupid people away from the seals. Is this what we have come to??? I can't even believe what I am seeing. I was on a seal rescue team on Nantucket Island and we were never allowed to get close and we were helping them.
Let's face it: most people are morons, particularly when it comes to respecting the boundary between all things wild and human activity. The rope barrier needs to be put up again. Eventually, of course, someone will get bitten, there will be a major outcry, and the seals will be driven off the beach, losing yet another vital post-calving 'rest stop' to human encroachment.
I should have been at every protest, signed every letter to the council members, and contacted council members on behalf of the seals. I should have done more. These people on the video were most likely tourists who thought that if there was no rope, that it was okay to get close to the seals. Thank you to the people who have put forth the effort to help the seals, especially the APRL. I pledge to do what I can to prevent future harassment of the seals. Any one else?
Unbelievable, this is" Nature Deficit Disorder" at its best!!!! This is why the rope barrier needs to go back up!!! Who are these people and what are they teaching their children.
What on earth is wrong with people.. really.. this is how little "humanity" we have left?? since people have absolutely no sense or respect the rope needs to go back up!
If you call these brainless heartless creatures "people" then call me whatever else...I'm not equal with them.
I wish there would be a group of Rhinos who wanted to go just a little closer to these Idontwanttocallthempeople's houses and kids and parents...Beacuse there's no rope between them! And I'd like to see their faces : )))
I'm a wildlife rehabilitator in Los Angeles, CA. When we see these animals on the beach we put up emergency tape with sticks to protect them from people. Could someone do that and maybe people take turns protecting the animals? This is horrible. Someone could get bitten besides the animals are being harassed.
im all for the rope but dont see how this was taken as horrible by the seals. they seemed quite nonchalant about the whole thing. the comments so far seem over reactive and easy to use as the brunt of jokes by those who hold opposing views. for example the comment about wanting 'to taser' some of the parents who brought their kids close to the seals. how about non-violence toward all creatures, even if they hold opinions different from your own?
We must put the rope back up. These are wild animals not puppies. It is the PARENTS fault for being so stupid. If I were there I would taser them. Even the children. I can't go watch this insanity. Parents mind your children for gods sake!!!
Also, shame on the parents who took their children out there! Great lesson you are teaching your children. I have been staying in La Jolla for the past 4 years on summer vacation and I refuse to spend 2 cents in this town until something changes. Passing this link along so others can see what is being allowed out there!
This is horrible! Take pictures from the pier and leave the seals alone! Something is seriously wrong with the mayor in La Jolla! I cannot believe they are no longer being protected from this horrible harassment. These are wild animals people! Makes me sick to see everyone poking at them :(
People are such idiots! Leave the poor creatures alone!!!!
