  • HA you think those are real rc cars think again search traxxas rustler vxl i have one watterproff 90 MPH!!!!!!!!!!! ya $400 get you one of those and youll never go back 2 thoes cars trust me

  • @turtle2448thomas I own a vintage Tamiya Grasshopper that is a hobby grade car. I have seen the Traxxas Rustler before, its nothing new to me. These older cars are quite fast for being a toy, not like the ones made today that are slow. If you never owned one of these type of cars before and/or even seen them in action, then you just won't understand. Yeah 400 bucks for a R/C car that can go 90 mph, but the problem is, there so fast, there is no place to drive them unless you live in the country.

  • Had the Turbo Hammer myself back in the days. Really great car, chassis is a bit like the Tamiya Lunchbox.

  • and that x-rc atrc can go through water. i remember when it came out. i had 2 cars by xrc a stock car and a car called tirestorm. loved those old days.

  • i find some of these at a thrift store i go to. i should actually start buying them for parts. i've seen a bandit there too. maybe next time i see one i'll get them and ebay the shock towers and you can get that thing back to running.

  • very nice

  • would u sell or trade the hammer, eliminator or bandit ?

  • @FlySocietyJ3tz They will never be for sale. It took me 20 years to get these, I am keeping them till I am old and gray.

  • There are also online vintage rc stores, and entire communities of people that just use these rc's, or have no prejudice between the types. You'll find them. As for me, I have taken these kind of rc's and hopped them up with the hobby-grade parts. Look around on you-tube. You'll see those kind of rc's with brushless motor upgrades. Like the old BlackFoot, and The ClodBuster converted into the CLOD-ZILLA.....lol

  • Awesome fleet! On the Tonka vehicle, 540 refers to the size and/or power of the motor. Try rc universe. It's an RC forum that's for "hobbyist" and "Professional" rc. But, I haven't seen anybody get picked on, yelled at, or condescended at this forum yet. We were talkin' about my 21 year old Tamiya Thunder Dragon my first day there! lol

  • @captainkurk Yeah, I knew the 540 meant the motor size, as my Tamiya has a 540 in it. I am not to big into forums anymore, but I may give it try. LUCKY YOU, I love the Thunder Dragon, I favorited the commercial for it on here. I like its looks. Is it just as cool as the grasshopper/hornet? Or better?? I won a ebay auction that had the remotes I needed for the tycos, so there is no need to convert to hobby grade, which I really didn't want to do.

  • I had both colors of the bandits and the red ones were 49 Mhz .

  • @msteele323 I have found the red ones in 49 and 27 as well now, so I am back to square one. There is a listing on ebay for 2 pistol grip remotes, one in 27 and the other in 49, I am going to try and get those if possible, that way, one of them is bound to work it, and they would also allow me to operate the hammer and the eliminator.

  • @76hotrodF250 BTW, I won the Tyco remotes, I plan on making a video of them in the next week or so. Whoo Hooo!!!!

  • @76hotrodF250 sorry this isnt on topic but if u still have that parts Honda HT r 3009 I will buy the engine from u

  • @JMASTERTRACTORS Sorry. I got rid of all that Honda stuff a year ago.

  • Makes me miss my Fast Traxx and Beach Burner (Radio Shack). Had a bunch of other ones, but those come to mind first n foremost. Most were 27 or 49 mhz, but not all controllers were compatible. The corded ones were fun, but required running after lol (first one was a 57 Chev Bel-Air with working headlights from New Bright) . Good vid and good deals!

  • @rebellemming84 I always wanted the Fast Traxx and the Turbo Outlaw myself. I know they can be ethier 27 or 49, but the color of the vehicle determines the Mhz, since I have no idea what colors had what Mhz, I don't know which controllers to buy. I do know now that the red Bandit is a 49mhz and so is the Black Hammer. Not sure about the Eliminator yet. My nephew has the red 57 new bright on the wire with headlights btw.

  • I have the same Tyco eliminator, its a great truck and good on battery!

  • @stevensj13 Awesome! What is the Frequency of the truck? 27 or 49?

  • @76hotrodF250 If I remember correctly 49mhz but I will have to check, its in my garage. now. I can make a video of it if you want

  • @stevensj13 Oh ok, I'm just trying to figure out what frequency remotes I need for my trucks, as the stickers that tell you what mhz they are are worn off and unreadable. If you want to dig it out and make a video of it, thats up to you, but thats awesome ethier way. I wish I could drive the ones that dont have remotes. Lucky for me the scorcher has one.

  • Cool R/C's - i usually buy my R/C's from thrift stores CHEEP - 90% of them come w/o remotes - im lucky that i have so many that most times one remote will run other cars.

Other times i get broken ones with remotes to use the electrics for ones i really want to get going- i looked at hobby shops for a 'basic kit' ( servos/controller) - thats like $100 .

You can try n contact tyco for a controller ( might cost alot) - i have gotten some thru radio shack tho pretty reasonable .

  • @dangeroustoys56 Thanks man, I always wanted to own the classic Tycos, but we were too poor to afford them new. Do they make hobby kits that use 9.6volt batterys? I have only seen the kits that use 7.2.

  • @76hotrodF250 some use 4.2-4.8 volt packs, some use packs making in access of 50 volts. the standard rc is 1/10 scale and commonly use 7.2-11.1 volts. dispite having less voltage, 7.4 volt lipo lacks can send some rc's up to and beyond 40mph. i have one that runs at 7.4v and it does 35 geared conservatively to keep temps down.

  • @76hotrodF250 : i think the one i looked at was 9.6 ( at the hobby shop)- the kind for the ones you need to build from a kit - i bot one from a flea market for $5 ( was a racing one with controller and all servos) - i used the setup in my large nissan R/C truck , i hooked a 9.6 volt pack to it and it runs great.

Most the cars today i want are the 9.6 volters and larger ones - i bot a huge humvee for $16 - luckily i had a remote for it- most my other large cars wont work.

  • @dangeroustoys56 Oh alright. Cool deal then, I'll keep the hobby idea as a last resort if I can't find some remotes that will work them.

  • you can convert them to hobby grade electronics and motors to get them running. it would cost anywhere from $50 for the scorcher to a max. of $150 for the bigger ones. that way, you could use one radio transmitter for all of them.

  • @dippst I had considered it, but the only hobby kits I ever find are for 7.2 volt batterys. The Tycos are set up for 9.6v and I doubt a 7.2 would fit in the compartment, without hacking them to pieces first. Or am I wrong on this part. I have only one Hobby grade car, but only have had it since last Sept, I am still new to the hobby grade stuff.

  • @76hotrodF250 7.2 is the old industry standard but things are changing. a 6 cell nicad or nimh is 7.2 volts but lipo is dominating the electric side of the hobby. you wouldnt need to butcher the cars to convert them because after replacing the circuit board with an esc and receiver you can fit a battery inside the chassis under the body. people have used industrial grade Velcro with great success.

what hobby grade do you have?

  • @dippst I guess I need to do some more research into them then, still, it would be nice to have original remotes and stuff for them, at least the Hammer as its still in a fairly new condition. The Bandit has seen better days and the Eliminator is decent. I got a Tamiya Grasshopper, running a Traxxas receiver and cheapy servos with a 540 motor. I built a all metal body for it. I have a video of it on my channel. Hobby stuff is still rather new to me, but I am learning quick enough.

  • just as cool as hobby grade vintage R/C
