That kid's life could have been mine, alhough I grew up in Brooklyn.. I had a father like Cee's, and I thank God for it. The big difference was that he accepted my Puerto Rican wife. I don't think Cee's dad would have.
I went to go see Chazz perform this a couple years ago. Great stuff! I almost wish I hadn't seen the movie so many times as I couldn't help but visualize the scenes from it in my head as he was telling the story. Great performer. He also spit a lot lol.
The biggest applause came when he said, "Now yous can't leave." People sure do love that line.
I could watch this movie over and over and never get sick of it. What fantastic acting and truly strange how things happened with LIllo. This is the greatest movie, in my opinion.
One of the coolest mob movies ever made. It sort of copies off of GoodFellas at the beginning, but by the end of the movie, I was complete pulled into it.
I hope he does another revival of the play because I want to see it!
A fine man.. When one speaks to me about Italian-Americans, talk about those who've contributed to their society..Keep your Gotti and your Sammy The Bull! It's people like, not only Chazz Palmenteri; there's Arturo Toscanini; Dr Enrico Fermi; Anne Bancroft; Sgt. John Basilone, USMC; Martin Scorcese.. Those are the ones who impre ess me.. What John Wayne did in the movies, Sgt. 'Manila Johnny' Basilone did for real! And I ain't even Italian!
Only mob movie I ever saw that I really liked. Told things from two perspectives...real ones.
Know a guy who grew up in that area, at that time. At a wedding, he watched all of us...old friends...with jobs, lives, celebrating. He had this unfathomable look on his face. I've never seen anything like it. I asked him what was wrong:
He told me all of his old friends were either in jail or dead.
Definitely one of my top movies already made ...Right up with Scarface
