Clinton never came close to a suplus any year prior to 98-99 only after the republicas took control of congress and the senate to FORCE Clinton to tax cuts and responsible spending! Most people who voted for Obama are at least a little disappointed because we expected way too much & we are seeing that he does not understand one thing: Republicans close ranks to seek and destroy anyone who is not totally in lock step. I've noticed this since Reagan. Obama is stuck on this compromise, "we can work together" bullshit. The reason the appeal is to the middle class is simple....they vote! In a system where voting is optional, you have to engage the people who are first of all, most likely to vote! Second you have to convince those people not to just ben over and take it up the ass from the very wealthy, which by the way is what happens in all poor countries(of which America will be one very shortly!).

I didn't vote for Obama because I thought he would fix the world. I voted for him because I felt he would slow the republican political advances.
And lets face it, even with all of Obama's great speeches, the Republican's don't take him seriously, and I don't think that would have been different under anyone else, because republicans will always lie to defame a democratic president. They did it with Clinton, Carter, Johnson, and Kennedy and in every case they undid as much dem policy as possible

What the Democrats need to do is field some other good candidates like Kucinich. Another truth is that the Democrats have been the champions of the poor for 50 years and have changed nothing. Cenk is wrong. By moving to the right Obama is increasing his chances of winning. He is adjusting to the average voter. His best strategy is to move as far right as possible to recapture possible swing voters. Since the far left will still vote for him no matter what, he's safe from losing votes. Middle class - everyone is supporting he middle class. What about the lower class? Do they deserve our support in equal measure?. The middle class had better start supporting benefits for the lower class since most of the middle class will soon slip into the lower class bracket. How we treat the least amongst us is a strong indication of the character of a nation and its people.
