I was a Marine infantryman. Now I'm an infantryman in the Army National Guard. It's so retarded for one branch to slam another. They've all got different missions and ways of doing things. I actually wanted in the USCG after USMC but had too many kids. Being on the Army side of things now, I see more unprofessional behavior from my fellow soldiers, particularly the active. I became a "Paper Pusher" Storekeeper as ther were no (HM) billets available. What shall we call the new team?

What is the equivelant of the coastguard in australia? I l know our navy patrols our borders to stop pirates and illegal immigrants, but what about the rescue men who jump out of choopers into the water to save people? Does the RAN do that or do the surf life savers have that duty?

@SSJ2Starscream They're always recruiting :) The question is how many....The coast guard only has about 40,000 (i think) people (compared to army's 500,000 active). My state only took 50 people last year. From the time I called my recruiter to the time I ship it will have been almost a year and a half. So, yes, the coast guard is recruiting, it's just more a matter of being qualified, having patience, and being motivated.
@SSJ2Starscream You can go to the Army but the water is more fun in my opinion, the Coast guard has other positions like navy and all those others, the USCG has boarding ranger, rescue swimmer, engineer repair, vessil locater, and my favorite, you can Sail on the Bonque Eagle that belongs to the USCG. there are more choices in the Coast guard, they now have Guard dogs whom are from Coast guard that work with Navy seals and their ship. there are more, I just named few I hope I helped you any.

Going through Coast Guard bootcamp,Maritime Enforcement Specialist A School as well as small arms instructor school are some of the toughest programs the CG has to offer and i excelled in them all. i did some research and apparently if you get on a big cutter, you go all over the world depending on where your stationed, South America, Europe, Africa, Middle East

All branches of The Military are tough not one is tougher the USCG is extremely important to the U.S they transport soldiers during WW2 and Vietnam they also protect our waters and our coastlines from Pirates, Drug Smugglers and any other type of Smuggler.The Coast Guard may not go on a battlefield but their job is alot more tougher my friends brother is in the Coast Guard and he said it ain't easy.

We have fought in every war in this nations history on land as well as at sea.We are fighting in Iraq and Afganistan on the sea and on the ground .We are sailors, soldiers , law enforcers, and life savers. Our ships regularly deploy as part of Navy battle groups. We have spilled blood in combat just like our brothers and sisters in the other services. We are expected to do more with less. That is right soe what the USCG is part of Homeland Sercuity in Peacetime but in War time the USCG is commanded by the Deprtment of The Navy.

I'm an airman. still, marine and seal might call us pussy 2. I understand y coastguard guys feel been unfairly treated just becuz they r not in somewhere of battle field. but the work is pretty much same. I will consider to transfer to coast guard if there is a good slot. doing more push up doesn't mean u r tough, a military person can pick it up anytime, u just go do it. but u need be smart and professional, and most important, u need to know what u r doing.

Im getting tired of people calling the uscg pussies! Im 6'0 210 pounds, bench press 365, been in more fights than i can count and been stabbed. I represent the uscg and im no pussy! We have the hardest bootcamp second only to the marine core. We have tough jobs that keep us from our family for months on end and unimaginable stresfull tasking regularly. Some of the toughest motherfuckers ive ever met were coasties. If the fact that i dont kill and instead save doesnt make me a man than im sorry.

@sailormadeintexas yea, I gotta agree. Altough I'm a fan of the Marines and I've seen all the videos and the Army, Navy and Air Force is a joke. The Srill sergeants yell a lot more (besides the Marines) than any other branches.

Going through Coast Guard bootcamp,Maritime Enforcement Specialist A School as well as small arms instructor school are some of the toughest programs the CG has to offer and i excelled in them all. I felt that I...a proud Coastie should try and represent my service and show the public and other arrogant service members that we are just as tough as anyone else because other people try and act like we are "Weaker Link" This is definately not the case.

If you think the coast guard are pussies you are an idiot. They don't kill people, they save lives, and fight the elements. They go out into the storms when Navy ships run from adverse weather. If a "real Branch" is one that kills and that is the only qualification then i am glad i am not a part of one of those. To my shipmates...Sempar Paratus and keep up the good job.
