  • Thos is sweet an arcade in my area closed and the owner sold me a 6 slot cabnit with 12 games for all around 1500 usd he has a few mor for sale on ebay

  • nice cabinet bro. later, cameron johnson

  • This is perfect for a piggy bank lol

  • I don't know if this counts to you as support but there have been new games that have come out on the Neo Geo made by NG:DEV, their newest game being Gun Lord that came out just last year. So if you count those games then that expand the Neo Geo's life up to almost 22 years of support.

  • Would the 4 button arcade be good for like a 111 in 1 cart?

  • I found one of these in a gift shop next to a fishing dock

I shed tears when it didn't work :(

  • My dream: Get an arcade 6-slot Neo Geo with a memory card, install the entire metal slug series, paint a cabinet for metal slug series, install EVERYTHING, feel like a boss

  • it's funny you mention the support life of the neo geo as being the second longest in vg history, the ps2 is closing in on that title i think. not sure if it will make it but it's only a couple of years away

  • I actually just picked up a Neo Geo MVS with a couple awesum games. Its so freakin cool

  • Very cool. Brings back so many memories. World heroes. Samurai Showdown. Bust a move, metal slug...

  • Just got one the other day and before I did I checked out youtube for reviews. Like most of my gaming searches I came to one of your videos. I just wanted to say that dip switch #7 is for free play.

  • LOVE THIS VIDEO GAMES

  • Love this video. I remember when i would go to an arcade the first thing i did was look for a Neo Neo MVS to play ( Metal Slug X being one of my all time favs ). And im a hug SNK fan as well. Now i have a question, do they have SNK Vs Capcom as an MVS game?. I think its so awesome that you managed to get a Neo Geo MVS in such great condition as well. Keep up the awesome videos! :D. Take Care

  • Hey, guys. It's possible to activate the Free Play option. For this, after select a game, enter on it's BIOS configuration and configure it. If this worked for me while I was using M.A.M.E to emulate Neo Geo MVS games, it could work on a real Neo Geo MVS cabinet.

  • @eriklima2 No you just simply need to flip a dipswitch on the board, i think it's dip 5.

You cannot configure the BIOS on an ORIGINAL MVS board.

  • Do you live in AZ?

  • how would an arcade remove or hide the free play button?

  • Hey im a huge fighting game fan. I really want a neo geo arcade for fighting games and metal slug. Would you suggest I pick one up? and about how much should I pay up to for one like this? Please respond

  • @IAMCARBONDOG Try Craigslist. It depends on what type of MVS you are looking for 1, 2, 4, or 6 slot. Usually they sell anywhere from $300-$600 pending on which version you want.

  • @Gamester81 Hey thanks. Ive checked craigs list. But alas theirs never anything good up there. I can barely find snes games let alone specific arcades. the only arcade they have up there is an area 51. I guess im just gonna keep checking. I want a slot 2 or 4 and if worse comes to worse I might need to get one special made or get one off ebay with those Terrible shipping charges.

  • I LOVE GAME

  • @IAMCARBONDOG

Or you could just get MAME and an arcade stick

  • how can you stand to be in your garage in august in the valley ? ugh. You are more resilient than I. As soon as it hits 100, I stay IN the house , A/C on!

  • AWESOME VIDEO!!! Lovin' the reviews! Keep em coming!

  • 7:00 shut up plane!

  • You need to restore this baby and make a flollowup vid :D

  • Love NEO GEO hope to have MVS one day. Regards

  • Awesome machine mate.

  • Great video. I smile anytime I see the ol' MVS in taco shops and laundrymats...still getting play. A true workhorse for SNK, looks like it found a good home. By the way big fan of All Gen Gamers, and now finally a subscriber!

  • Where do you get all these cabs?

  • Absolutely gorgeous machine. Great Vid.

  • I was looking to buy a Neo-Geo MVS but I do not know where to buy one and what would be a good price can you give me some suggestions please?

  • what was the name of the place you got your neo geo some thing called kraigs list or something

  • You lucky fucker!

  • @6Mega6Man6 Lmao,I second that!

    -Stoicone!

  • i got one of these too, the player-1 C button is broken and needs to be replaced. I see a hinge but can't figure out how to access the controller from underneath. I do see two locks above the screen, but i don't have the keys. Am I suppose to open that, remove the bezel, and then turn the controls over?

    any help is appreciated.

  • Gamester, how much did you pay for this machine including games?

  • why didn't you just set the cab to free play with the hard dips

  • Your a wicked nice guy. Anyways that's a really cool arcade. For some reason the size of the neo geo games is appealing to me I can always imagine it eating pc engine games lol

    Great video

  • This was a pretty cool video, okay. I like it, okay. And Neo-Geo rocks, okay.

  • what is its bit count, 32

  • great review. i actually understand exactly how everything works in this sepecific machine. thank you and keep it up

  • is 500 dollars for the cabinent and 5 games a good deal?

  • @TravisTuchdown is the cab on it original paint , monitor loock good, coing locks are there; are the games loose? !!!you got a good deal!!!! I pay 625.00 for my mvs cab 2 slots with 3 games complete, plus 6 loose games :}

    !!!Good Luck!!!

  • @andy23469 thanks

  • This is really cool. Brings abck alot of memories. Probably when I get older and have a nice big garage, I'll prolly pick up one of these.

  • is there no free play option in the game settings ?

  • @tryton1000 No I believe you have to mod for free play.

  • @Gamester81 there is actually a little box with dip switches in the motherboard there is about 8 little white switches, not sure which one it is but on mine it was number 7, I'm not sure what was the setting on the 4 slot, cause I just bought me a 2 slot. Also make sure even though it's been refurbished to check the battery most of the MVS systems battery usually leaks and a leaky battery is bad for the motherboard.

  • @Gamester81 Hi, I have a question; I'm looking to buy the Blazing Star game for my mvs cab what's a fear price to pay for this game?

    !!!Thanks a lot!!!

  • @andy23469: I paid $50 for my MVS Blazing Star.

MVS games can be found very cheap on eBay. Even my Metal Slug 1 was only $15.

  • @Gamester81: Actually, it's one of the dip switches right on the board itself for free play.

  • @Gamester81,

There are hard dips in the back of the cabinet that will allow for free play

  • @tryton1000 Yes one of the dipswitches is freeplay, i think it's dip 5.

  • @tryton1000 are you saying you can't have 2 quarters on hand? I mean you'd own the machine so you just leave the coin slot open and take BACK your coins to keep playing..or you know....maybe try and get some money back by letting other people put THEIR money into your system.

  • @tryton1000 I know your comment is a year old, but I felt like helping: Dipswitch #7 on the motherboard turns Free Play on and off. :-)

  • im a newbie whats up with the black line that comes down the screen

  • @justinxsmith2 That's the camera that causes that effect. It doesn't look like that when you're playing it in real life.

  • @Gamester81 no, its the refreshing rate of the screen.

  • @Gamester81 to enlighten on why the camera does that, is because the screen (The arcade systems screen) has a low refresh rate. most lcd screen they have now a days for 2009-2010 for computers have a higher refresh rate (the rate on which the screen refreshes) they usually refresh in Hertz so you can't see it refreshing, this is usually set to 90+ so the lines will not appear. so that is why you get the black lines. It does the same thing with old computer moniters (2000-2006). Hope this helps

  • That is just an artifact from being filmed. It will not show up like that in person.

  • @justinxsmith2 um ok not to be nerdy but those black lines are are caused by the light flashing 60 times a second. Basicly all light bulbs and TV monitors etc. use AC current. And AC current turns of and on 60 a second or 60 cycles. The black lines are the effect of this 60c/s. you can only see the black lines if you record it since the light flashes fster than the human eye can see.

  • @justinxsmith2 yea it's that arcade machines usually used analog monitors....sigh...the digital age..not always a good thing

  • This is the one I would get!

  • Blazing Star is downright awesome :3

  • ive just seen a 4 slot in a local ad, is $275 worth it?

  • I have your exact cabinet except as a 48-1 multicade and I have another 4 slot Neo Geo that is a slightly different cabinet with 6 original dedicated games and the 120-1 cart. Like you I got great deals on both units, but I am in the middle of restoring the multicade one.

  • Man that thing is in great condition! I hope to find one in that good of shape some day. Nice review.

  • Man you are very lucky i want one nice video man take care

  • I have one of these that I'm restoring. Its an AWESOME cab! Great purchase

  • Well stated theme. And ingenious machine.

    I have Will. (-;

  • hey gamester81 do you have a pole position arcade if you do can you do a review of it.

  • No sorry I don't own Pole Position for the arcade. Wish i did because it's an awesome game and arcade.

  • i´m from europe and my brother just bougt a mvs and it's kind a cool because i never see no cabinet like my brother's, its a 6-slot cabinet if you want to check it out to see go to my page, props:)

  • i have a neo geo 2 slot but i want to put a 4 slot in board in would it work.

  • nice ; cab ,

  • good

  • awesome vid dude. I have a quick q, I also have a MVS 4 slot but i want to switch it to a 6 slot does the back hatch of the mvs open? lmk cause all i want to also change the buttons and stick . Thx!

  • The back hatch does open with a key lock. That's awesome your thinking about changing your cab to a 6 slot. Good luck man.

  • @Gamester81

thx dude for the info, yeah i want 2 put more carts while i'm playing. I also have to put in new leds on my display cause some dont light up as bright. But thx again, keep up those awesome vids!

  • wow man thats just incredible. I really want an arcade cabinet and im thinking about geting this one now. Even if I gotta save some cash for it.

  • i cant find the marquees i want on ebay where do you get yours

  • @TheAudiorub

Mine came when I bought it. Try google searching for them, or try Craigslist.

  • @Gamester81 oh and you ever herd of the 100 games in one cartrage

  • Yeah I did a review over a 111 cart that I have. It's a cool mutlcart for sure.

  • I spent so much time on one of these in my local landromat when i was a kid :]

  • how much should i pay for a six slot mvs

  • Probably around $500-$700. That's just a guess though.

  • kk thanks

  • whats your favorite neo geo mvs

  • I really like the the Metal Slug series a lot.

  • My favorite is probably either Metal Slug or The King of Fighters.

  • I have a friend in Texas who has the Metal Slug game for the home version.

  • Great video, you and Luke have helped me a lot in my decision in buying one of these. I just purchased a single slot for $195 dollars with Samurai Shodown, and the store is about five miles near me so I can pick it up. Can't wait to get it and put in a four slot motherboard. Again thanks for the very informative video!

    --Erik

  • Awesome Erik, I'm glad you were able to find one, and $195 is a great deal. What games do you plan on getting for it? I recommend the 111 in 1 multicart (I did a review on it not too long ago). Great find man!

  • Update last veteran's day I picked up a 2 slot 25 inch. It is a bit beat up, so I am planning on doing a little restoration. I really wanted the 25 inch, and the room in the two slot. Going to repaint it, replace control pad, and replace glass monitor cover. Wish me luck!

    --Erik

  • Awsome machine. Do you have any suggestions or buying tips regarding a machine like this because I want to get one.

  • 3 what, oh the 3shitty

  • I owned you at Double Dragon! LOL

(Thanks for letting me win sir.)

  • Finding the red ones in the UK is so bloody difficult. The ones we got here were pretty bland and ugly, apart from the 6-slot, which are even harder to find =(

One day shall find one... must persevere...

  • Hmm, I'm curious what the "ugly" ones look like. Keep looking dude, I'm sure you'll find one.

  • They have all the pictures of the known Neo Geo machine variations around the world on hardMVS (dot) com

  • ok i will cant wait :)

  • no METAL SLUG what the fuck?????

  • LOL I agree Metal Slug is classic! Wait until my next video though, I think you'll like what I picked up for this.

  • "Winners don't use drugs" haha, tell that to Ben Johnson.

  • leave the 360 alone!!

jk, great review, hope to get a MVS in the future for my game room

  • Great to see more and more people with Neo-Geo cabinets.

I myself own a 6-slot MVS, but it's a candy cabinet (JP style).

And, like yourself, I bought mine from someone that lived near me (though he was ~10 mins away). I don't think I'd ever buy such a thing if I can't see it firsthand (esp. when people use a fake photo of whatever they're selling -- yes, I've seen this happen).

Can't go wrong with one of the best arcade systems! Congrats on your purchase.

  • Wow, that cab looks to be in really good condition. I myself just purchased a cab that had been converted to Neo Geo. Not quite genuine SNK but almost as good and a ton of fun. Good luck with yours and thanks for the video.

  • Always great to bump into other great fans of the Neo Geo year on YT.

  • man, dude you are lucky, NEO-GEO is great, wish ihad one arcade like this.....actualy....i could just go to the aracade place near where i live, they have one alike(without free plays) :D

  • Damn nice cabinet.I dont have enough space in my room so I'm trying to get an AES system. How much do cabinets like that cost?

  • 6:09

woah, those graphics are amazing, it like im looking at real grass

  • Haha. .

  • I played Metal Slug 2 on this arcade cab at a restaurant.Amazing how the games still hold up well to this day. I might get an AVS cab and some games soon.

  • I love neo-geo cabs. Great find!

  • dude how cool is this machine wow man , you have amazing stuff man

  • man i am still looking for a neogeo mvs..in mint condition..it's been more than 9 yrs..and i am still looking ..enjoy your cabinet ...

  • Thanks and good luck with your search. I found tha Craigslist was very helpful for me.

  • I remember a NEO GEO arcade game I played growing up which had a choice of 3 to play.....

And I always would play this bad ass vietnam or war game????

    You know it???

  • I think you're thinking of NAM 1975. It's a badass game, and I have it on my AES system.

  • Thats sounds like it....Thanks

  • man, i just want one arcade cabinet for my collection, something good like pac man, but if i can still get a bad one, i'd get it. any suggestions on getting one easily without using the net?

  • I personally prefer craigslist to find cabs. You might also want to visit your local pizza parlors in your area that have cabs and ask the owners to notify you when they decide to sell any of them.

  • Great clip! I am picking up my first MVS Cabinet in the next few days so I enjoyed seeing this! It will also be my 3rd cabinet!

  • I love the 360 as well but it really is badly made.. I have an MVS board that has been humming away since 1989 and works perfectly - my 360 has died several times since I first got it, the warrenty is now gone, I've had to get it repaired privately and the thing still keeps on red-lighting! Ilove the games but I'm getting so pissed off, I'm definetly thinking of going for a PS3.

  • I cant comment on the 360 since I have never owned one. But my PS3 has been chuggin away since a few weeks after it was released.

  • The PS3 is a great system. Just needs more arcade ports, and PSone titles on the American PSN. And yes I realize Sony of America has to go through some red tape b4 releasing PSone titles on the PSN.The 360 has some killer arcade titles on XBL. Wish they would be on the PSN as well. Wishful thinking i guess.

  • @PearlJammer07

Yeah it would be nice to see some arcade titles on the PS3. But then again I have been playing MAME online with people for a long time now. And that is free.

  • Wow.. I was looking at one of these recently - an ebay sale but "collection only" - I really hate that.

  • Beautiful pickup!Very informative as well.Always wanted one of these cabs myself.

  • great review

  • i wish i had one of those so bad

  • all your collection are belong to subscribers

JK. Nice! There is a Galaga machine for sale around here for around $250, so I might get that.

  • great vid! I want one of those

  • Thats pretty kick ass man, i'd love to have somethin like that. Also thats really cool of you to send your friend a game. I'm sure he'll appreciate it (Yes, I know who it is lol)

  • nice video, great cabinet.

  • Nice cab you have there. Its nice to find other people who appreciate the Neo cabs.

  • Great pick up man! Way to go!

  • great video, 5/5! Keep it up, I really enjoy every single video of yours! :)

    Greetings from Australia!

  • Nice Find man! I have been looking for a MVS myself but so far haven't found one anywhere close to me. So far the only thing I have found is a Japanese Candy cab with a MVS board thats been set-up in it but the cost of the machine and having it shipped it like $3000!

  • Good deal! I really enjoyed this vid.

  • nice cabinet.

  • Wow, looks great, cool review

  • Great review - I really liked how you showed all the finer points of the cabinet. My local arcade has Blazing Stars - that game is intense!

    Congrats on the pickup!

  • Great review Gamester. That is a nice MVS cab. Very cool.

  • Dude that's awesome, congrats on completing the collection of neo geo. Im still looking for an AES but they are so expensive, but i may treat myself one day. ?i just love snk games, blazing star is one of my favourites, it's awesome!

    Awesome review buddy!

  • thats really awesome man! I remember playing lots of neo geo games in various arcades as a child on those mvs units.

  • nice there is a neo geo at my local game store and it is like $170 i really want to get it

  • That's a nice cabinet. Great find. Good luck getting that upstairs!

  • dang thats a nice cab!, lucky you!

  • cool cabinet

  • I'm wanting an arcade cab really bad :(

Hard to find anything around here

  • Jealous... Sweet Gamester... SIGH... The good old glory of the Arcade!

  • lucky

  • Wow...this is great. Congratulations man. I was wondering if you were going to lug that thing up to your gameroom after what you said before. Good luck!

  • WOW!! I am in tears right now over this! I was going to pick one up, but I couldn't find one in the area. Awesome find, and also I wish that guy only the best. Your a great friend! I own now 11 games for the MVS, but I am probably going to wait til 2010 to get the MVS now.

  • Nice cab. Really tough to find one that isn't a conversion. Now you have to gut it and turn into a MAME cab. ;P Great review.

  • awesome cabinet and great pickup

  • hey youtube hows it going this is gamester81

  • In my previous jobs, I used to be the guy that goes around collecting coins out the arcade machines. I remembered quite a few of the Neo Geo MVS cabinets in the 7-11 stores.

  • nice find man. My next cab is going to be a Neo Geo

  • LOL@360 joke! It is funny because it is true. That sucks about that dude going through hard times. That is way nice of you to send him a game like that man. And that is a damn nice looking cab. Very very awesome!

  • You're a lucky man, dude. I'd love to have one of those things. Or at least an MK cabinet.

  • WOW. Congrats man!! .. an MVS arcade cab!! Goshh.. I can only dream of having one in my home. Very COOL....

  • John, you make a grown man green with envy with that collection of yours.

And also, I was very happy to hear that you sent that Youtube user a gift in hopes to cheer him up. That's just awesome, man. You keep being you.

  • nice review. i love neo geo. i used to play a lot of metal slug in the arcades when i was younger

  • Fun fact (that you most likely knew) - The Famicom was the longest supported system - 20 years.

  • It's true that Nintendo support the Famicom for 20 when it comes to repairs and making units, but I they stopped making games for it in the early to mid 90's.

  • Oh, I guess I wasn't really paying attention at that point, so if that's the case - You're right.

But if that's the case - PS2 may soon beat the MVS...

  • That's correct. The last official game made for the Famicom was the Famicom exclusive, Takahashi Meijin no Boukenjima IV, or Adventure Island 4 if it would've been released in the U.S. It was released June 24,1994. However, pirate companies are still making games today.

  • Awesome! :) I'd really like to grab a few arcade games when I get a house. And an MVS sounds like a great idea.

  • How much did it cost??? The shipping must've been crazy too...
