This fight was the reality check Pascal needed. He took on his training more seriously and learned from his mistakes. He said it best after Chad Dawson's fight "One thing I know, you need to win like a champion and lose like a champion. When I lost to Carl Froch, he beat me in England and I didn’t find any excuses. He beat me and I came back stronger. I beat Chad Dawson and he needs to come back stronger." :)

Pascal takes large portions of the rounds off, and then just explodes in these interval-like spurt attacks. His lack of stamina and conditioning would cost him the fight. He only beat Chad, because Chad is a lazy fighter who has no motivation and determination. Don't forget that Chad wasn't undefeated, rightfully he lost to Glen Johnson.
people always say that Froch is sloppy, but that's just not true. His body is really oddly built, and his arms are unnaturally long, so it looks a little awkward when he punches. A lot of eastern Europeans have the same build, and same awkward looking boxing style.
pascal was not able to do what he was asked to do from he's corner between each round. froch has more succes to go inside pascal defence. that was the key for both to win
I had it 116-112 for Froch, I'm not british, just wanted to stay that. Even know Froch has no real boxing skills he has a great chin, heart and determination. He's never in a dull fight and IMO he beat Kessler and got robbed, but he also got a gift vs Dirrell. @ViolenceJigsaw naw, froch hit in the back of the head way more and used his left to hold pascals head in place and threw rights. the ref warned froch way too many times. he should have had points deducted early on. bad ref, had no control over the fight
i got froch winning nine through 12 after a tie at the end of 8, so froch by four points, he was relaxed the whole time n thus had more in the tank at the end, pascale started much faster but was weary at the end, too tight to be effective...
I was there as a official for the BBBOC and I was sitting next to Pascals corner and his cornerman said to me Jean did not follow the gameplan, they knew he lost but the official scorecards were a load of bollocks, that was crowd influence because watching it now on screen Pascal lost it by say three rounds tops, also I got Froch sihned my pass and he chatted pleasantly Pascals lot were right obnoxious dicks.

this was the correct score in my opinion, 2 even rounds in there for sure. Pascal is a force at 175, the extra weight has helped him in the later rounds. Froch fought very well and was amazing in the last half of the Jermain Taylor fight, this was the best fight I saw live in 2008!

Dirrell wasn't all that impressive, but he layed the blueprint in the 11th round of his fight on how to beat Froch.

Pascal fought the wrong fight that fed into Froch's grinding style.
Pascal should have used his legs more.Instead he just stood in the pocket for most of the fight.
Pascal realy doesn't have the best stamina and it was clear mid way through the fight.He got tired from throwing alot of punches,alot of big punches.
I give Pascal credit for try'n to out gun Froch,but still,it was the wrong strategy against Froch.

@tgoodm1 i agree the ref was horrible, only warned froch once and pascale 4 times in the fight while they were both just as dirty, which wasnt mch, the ref stepped in a couple times with no need, like to pull a guys shorts up in the middle of an exchange when the shorts didnt even need pulling up=thats when you know he hasnt a clue..that said i had it even after 8 but froch easily took it at the end by 3 or 4 pts minimum...

@BenDew100 dude if this is one of the best you have not watched too much boxing, this fight was a decent brawl but lousy boxing, and no where near the great fights where they actually kept landing...u wna see great fights try utubing corrales/castillo or ward gatti or vazquez marquez or holyfield bowe rd. 10, and the list goes on and on...these guys have alot of guts but come nowhere close to the epic battles in the past

This was not a great fight like every one says. But i dnt understand all the hate on froch he is not the best boxer out there but he fights the best out there and wins any way. Much better than khan who fights bums and is a coward who wont get in the ring with anybody who has power or calzaghe who fought mostly bums and only fought fading legends when he crossed the pond.

I don't understand why so many fans dislike Carl Froch. He's a decent guy, wants to entertain the fans more than anything and his mindset is more confidence than arrogance. Sure he's not Roy Jones or Joe Calzaghe but whay should that matter? It's not as though his career has been built on robberies and friends in high places.

this was the correct score in my opinion, 2 even rounds in there for sure. Pascal is a force at 175, the extra weight has helped him in the later rounds. Froch fought very well and was amazing in the last half of the Jermain Taylor fight, this was the best fight I saw live in 2008!

@turningtide1, I still stand by my scoring of 117-113 Froch, but agree that a rematch would be great! Pascal is a gutsy, tough fighter. The point is actually moot given the way he ruined Dawson and because he is now at light heavy weight and holds two belts. It's Froch who should want a rematch, Pascal doen't need him!

Froch has a serviceable jab. But even if he doesn't want to stand toe to toe with Abraham, you said it yourself. He doesn't have the skills of Dirrell or Abraham. Zero head movement, lateral movement, defense. He could get past a demoralized Kessler, but I don't see him dealing with Abraham.

You're right. Froch is a limited fighter, whose heart compensates for his technical shortcomings. Dirrell is a vastly talented, naturally gifted boxer who has squandered his gifts thus far. But, if he learned anything from his Split Decision loss to Froch, it's that he has to press the action, even if it's not his style. I said Ward would beat Kessler, and people called me crazy. Get ready to call me crazy again. Dirrell will outpoint Abraham.

@kakonis - Dirrell is limited, he has to rely on his movement does he not ? whos lack of heart and willingness to trade toe to toe lets him down, when AA started putting on the pressure towards the end after hitting Dirrell with some nice shots the only thing Dirrell could rely on at that point was his movement and would of been in trouble if he got caught up, unlike Froch

@RibenaSpring Lol. Dirrell is limited because he has to "rely on his movement." That's like saying someone is ugly because they fuck a lot of beautiful women. Dirrell's arsenal, his lateral movement, head and footwork are what make him versatile, not limited. Also correct me if I'm wrong, but in his fight with Abraham, Dirrell seemed to sort of rely on his fists since he did give Abraham the first knockdown of his career. I suppose Dirrell is limited because he knocked Abraham down, too.

The thing is Carl Froch has a chin and power, but guess what? Abraham has an even better chin, and more power.
The only way to possibly beat Abraham is to counter punch, keep it moving, and respect his power. Froch will do what he always does, which is stand in the center of the ring and trade bombs; it's admirable, but with Abraham the gameplan should be hit and don't get hit. Dirrell wasn't all that impressive, but he layed the blueprint in the 11th round of his fight on how to beat Froch.

Froch won't trade with the King man, if he does then it could be goodnight for him.
Froch has a good jab but has let it go over the last few fights..he won't be so stupid as to try and trade with Arthur mate.
Most people who say Froch has no skill at all are th people that have only watched his last2/3 fights.
The guy got a bronze in the ameutures so he must have some skill...just not that of Dirrell, Taylor etc.

i dont know why people have said this fight was close. i had it 8 rounds to 4 for froch.
pascal slowed down and lost hope around the mid rounds. frochs hard hitting shots had their effect.
frochs power, conditioning, and mental focus won this fight for him.
if he doesnt knock out dirrell hes going to lose. his best bet is to rush dirrell the first couple of rounds without caution.

you really need to watch more boxing if this is THE best you have seen!!...it was a decent fight, an exciting and good fight but not even close to the best...too many wild out of control lunges by pascal and oh well............keep watching...try morales/barrera ONE, or Marquez/Vazquez ....either one is much much better competition than this one!...or how bout castillo/Corrales!!! just round 10 of that is more than this whole fight put together!

there are loads of great fights over the years, in the recent few years tho you really want to check out round ten of riddick bowe v. evander holyfield and rnd 10 of castillo v. corrales, and the trilogies between vazquez -marquez or barrera-morales are nothing but spectacular nonstop action!
