is hmong who created this. only a hmong can play this right. my dad plays it all the time. i upload 1 these days and hear the true sound and can hear it talk IF you know hmong..but nice video
@HmoobAtlanta Yes my friend. I understand you must know the Hmong language for this instrument, but only I can make weird noises on it. Thanks a lot, and let me know when you make that video. I would love to check it out :) Have a nice day friend!
Where did you buy your Dàn Môi? What's the brand/model? Also how much did you pay for your Dàn Môi? I'm planning to buy one.... Kindly let me know the store/web.... I would appreciate your help.

@SugarInHisBlood Haha! That's something I need to try, I think it will get people to watch the "stupid guy dancing to a twang." This instrument is supposed to be more relaxed. It's actually used for love communication between the Hmong people ;)
@ThomasAnthonyBowman I dunno! I think it should have a disclaimer on it.. When you start twanging away on a foreign love call, don't be surprised what comes knockin.. Maybe a donkey!

shakes head at niamtxiv, he just simply showing the instrument, dont be so hardkuckled at him. i give him props for showing such great tools of musical instrument.
@agentm83 Yes my friend! Vietnam culture is sooooo interesting. I would also love to visit Vietnam and experience their culture first hand. But for now, I live in Vietnam through all my Vietnamese friends :)
His music are sloppy. No offense. A native instrument is supposed to be play a certain way. The Ncas expresses poems. It's insulting to Hmong people and many Hmong Harp players that are looking at these videos. I'm the first Hmong to comment here because I play this instrument and so is my mom who is my teacher. Tran Quang Hai doesn't know what he's playing or understand the purpose of the instrument. It's not the sounds/tones you're supposed to be listening to.
@niamtxiv My friend. Just because I may be a white American doesn't mean I know nothing about culture. First of all, the video title is "Vietnamese Dan Moi" because these instruments that I bought were handcrafted in Vietnam by H'Mong people. I don't kow of any other place to get these from except Vietnam. I am more well versed on Vietnamese culture so I don't claim to know much about Hmong people or culture. But I did exaplin in my description box that this instrument is from the Hmong people.
@niamtxiv I didn't claim to know anything about these instruments or how to use them. I am simply showing off the instruments that I own as I see them as unique and special. I am sorry if you don't agree with my video, but I feel as if I did nothing to offend anyone. I wish you would have explained to me more about Hmong and Ncas in a manner that was not as rude.
How can you master the art of Ncas if you can't play a song with it? The Ncas functions as a mouth. Listen to how Hmong people play it... the Ncas is actually speaking...When did Vietnamese start to have the harp? They got it from the Hmong in Vietnam.
What the heck is a Dan Moi? That is not a Vietnamese instrument. That is a Hmong instrument. We called is Ncas pronounce Ja. It is an instrument use when one is expressing love to a girl. The purpose of this instrument is used as a talking tool to express one's love. This is not a native Vietnamese instrument. This is a Hmong instrument. I don't understand what you're saying.. the instrument is supposed to be speaking.
Vietnamese people are a totally different people from the Hmong. Calling it a Vietnamese instrument is like calling a Toyota an American car. Vietnamese people do not play this instrument.
@niamtxiv If the Toyota is produced in USA then it is American. Please search Dan Moi on YouTube to view Vietnamese playing this instrument. The most known to me is Tran Quang Hai.
@tbone1143 Yes. They are a form of Jew's harp, but a different style. These are Dan Moi from the Hmong minoritiy group in Vietnam and the rest of southeast Asian. The western style of Jews harp is pretty interesting but not as fun for me to play. I have one of those too but I lost it. Hehehehe :P
@ThomasAnthonyBowman Nah, even though that professor explained things to me but I still believe we don't have that kind of instrument. It's barely a music instrument. I prefer the Harmonica!
