Yep I love the original series, this new ST is just a space adventure film. All it did is reuse ST names. Come do you really think it is a modern reflection of the original series?
Seeing Kirk and Spock in Fighter Pilot Garb or seeing Chekov and Sulu in Russian Army Tank costumes in a Holodeck Recreation of the battle of Stalingrad would be cool !
The Movie so nice I had to see it thrice(3 I wanted to rhyme)! Eric Bana made for a very hot Romulan even though he was the bad guy! Anybody know the name of song playing with this trailer or was this something created for the trailer?
.....and to use the popularity of the movie and its name to introduce and "PUMP UP" new up coming actors and get them a career to make more money off them in the future

This movie is just star trek's bad attempt to mimic star wars. I hate to say it. I really do. What really ticks me off is that the Star Trek universe is way too big to waste a big budget film rehashing the original series characters. I for one would like to see a DS9 or Voyager followup, or maybe a crossover using characters from multiple series. Now, this is just the fanboy in me talking, but I think a post-war Domionion Vs. Borg movies would be AWESOME, and a good way to bring in anybody!
In "The Cage" Spock is listed a CDR (Commander) and if you look closely, his sleeve insignia is the same as "Number One" (Majel Barret Rodenberry)who was second in command to Pike. That would make Spock was third in command, not a position given to an Ensign.
In "The Menagerie" the it was made clear that the events happened 13 years ago.
I'm glad Pike will be in the movie. He is my favorite Star Trek character.
BTW did anybody notice that at the begining of the chase scene with the Vette, the convertible top is up, but when he reaches the cliff, the top is definitely down?
Spock is considerable older than Kirk. Kirk was 35 when he assumed command of the Enterprise. Spock was serving as the science officer on the Enterprise (under Capt Pike) 13 years before Kirk took command. That means Kirk was just graduating from the academy at the time that Spock was on active duty and had achieved a rank of Lt Commander. So adding 13 to 35 you come up with 48. So Spock should be in his late 40s to early 50s.
Kirk (as an adult) doesn't know how to drive. Spock: "Your skills as a taxi-cab driver leave a lot to be desired!" TOS "A Piece of the Action".
Although it is hard to tell from the trailer, it implies that Kirk assumes command of the newly built U.S.S. Enterprise - He was actually its second (possibly third) commander. Kirk assumed command from Captian Christopher Pike. TOS: "The Menagerie".
Finally, Kirk was born in Nebraska. "The Voyage Home".
cool but I don't know if rhis will be a good star trek movie, because the ship looks like it was made after Picard or some thing. I think Old Spock will tell a story to someone and it will be the premice.
It is how star trek would be if it was directed by michael bay!

I saw this movie and think it was no less impressive than Avatar - great acting, directing, magnificent visual effects.
Chris Pine, Winona Ryder, Eric Bana and Jennifer Morrison did a brilliant job!!!

Why do you even say that? Do you even like the Star Trek series? Cuz if you do, then you really would not say such things.

This is based off of the original series, so there is a very good chance that the holodeck has not yet been invented. Sorry.

hat to nitpick, cavorite productions, but you´re wrong, I´m sorry.
ok, kirks driving skills...I think everyone would have a problem driving a car as old as the one in "a piece of the action"
captain pike IS in the new star trek movie and he IS commanding the enterprise before kirk.
kirk was (or will be^^) born in 2233 and spock was born in 2230. when spock served under pike, for 11 years, he was only an ensign.

yes I noticed that, but...so what? lol
fresh1306 3 years ago
Well, in the 'biz' its called continuity. I call it 'attention to detail'.
CavoriteProductions 3 years ago 2
maybe there is a lot more happening between those two scenes than we can see in the trailer.
fresh1306 3 years ago
Possible... I just notice things like that.

Iowa. The character was born in Iowa. Stop nit-picking, eat your popcorn, and enjoy the dang movie. To quote Shatner: "Get a life!"
emissary555 3 years ago 6
OOOPPPS! My bad! You are absolutely right! It was Iowa!
Of course, I can't help but notice the irony of you correcting my nit-picking with nit-picking of your own and then telling me to "Get a life!" LOL
