  • You are an awesome reviewer. Also, your iPod can control those earphones, just upgrade to iOS 4 if you haven't already.

  • my android has volume control over bluetooth, ifail

  • Frank! hows the sound quality... I want to buy them and use them in the gym...Hows the noise cancellation?!

  • Will these work with an ipod nano 6th gen with a bluetooth transmitter??? thanks.

  • so if i were to get these and i have the newest generation of the iPod touch with the camera can i adjust the volume?

  • Frank

hey its me again >> long time and may you have a very enjoyable Festive Period.

i just got myself a Mac Air 11' (and i love it) im now trying to pair my Sony Ericson HBH-IS800 with it but it keeps breaking up (sound). i dont know if there is a firmware update >> i find these Sony Ericson HBH-IS800 the best, and so wish to keep them for use on my mac .

any way how is it and do you have any advice.

    Cheers Mate.

  • @daak1234 So when you say breaking up. How close or far away from your Mac are you? I can't imagine why they would be breaking up on you...? I would try unpairing them and try to repair and see what happens.

  • @daak1234 Frank > who knows!!! Now all is working well again no break ups of the sound > maybe some dust in the headphone's system as hadn't used for about 6 months > but now they don't leave my ears (except with charging)

Frank do you have any ideas of charging these headphones via the USB

    thanks Man.

  • Hows the bass from 1-10

  • @4pomona just get the MW600 Bluetooth its way better

  • HOw comforable and heavy they are?

  • Do the volume controls still work on ios 5 ok?

  • hey fren this work with iphone 4 or not plz reply asap thank u .......

  • @bijayranjana Yes it works with iPhone 4

  • @FranksTechHelp i cant get mine to work right with my iphone 4

  • Hey frank, I got my sony ericsson hbh-is800's today and charged em up to 8 hours and tried them on my ipod touch 4th generation and it hooked up great, no problems at all, I even had no problem with the volume adjustment.. but..... there was an annoying noise in the background so I reset the headphones and tried again, and again that terrible noise. So I tested it on my Sony Ericsson walkman phone and it worked like a charm, crystal clear. I'd appreciate some help!:)

    thanks!

  • These are pretty nice earbuds, thinking about replacing my Motorola S9 with something like these.

  • Hey nevermind the last comment cause I got it to work!! But I just want to know how many devices can it connect to and how do I get it to automatically connect to my iPod 4 or sonyericsson? Cause I want to use my iPod for music and Sony for calls. So meaning i want to switch it easily

  • And plus I tried connecting with my sonyericsson and it works fine but just for my iPod touch 4 it just says there searching...

  • How do u know if it's fully charged? I charged it for 2 hours and it turned green for the first day when I bought it. Is there a possibility the ipod touch 4 bluetooth will get effected or something when u jailbreak? Should I unjailbreak it?

  • Hey frank

My iPod iOS 4 can't connect. Must it be fully charged when u first buy it to connect? I tried holding for more than 6 secs. It starts blinking for just a few blinks then no more

    How? Pls help

  • @black84ops Try charging it fully, I had the same issue. When you turn the power on, press it to turn it on and hold it for 6-7 seconds. It should start flashing continuously and then pair.

  • are there any headphones like those but not the inear one?

  • yo hi man its work for black berry or iphone 4

  • can u change the volume on 4.X?

  • @kenny1431 Yes you can change the volumes on 4.X from the unit but not the headphones them self.

  • @FranksTechHelp can u make a video to doing that? i maybe going to buy a pair.

  • hey man it works with nokia c7 smoothly thnks 4 ur review!

  • You could control the volume (and other things) with a BT-Watch like the SE-Liveview.

That might not only be super-cool but even more practical then pressing buttons directly on your Headset. Im probably gonna try it, but first the is800 have to work for me for running/cycling, they are on their way.

  • How much and where do you get it

  • How loud are the compared to iPods standard white earphones?

I wanna buy this but I only like loud music in my ears, and due to this being bluetooth, it wont have alot of power im guessing.

  • @gamez101 If you are using iOS3 you won't have control over the volume and they will be relatively loud, if you are using iOS4 you can control the volume and crank them up and rock out man!

  • Is there a successor to this? I have an old ds970 that has problem disconnecting during play with any device :(, so I need a replacement to pair with my ip4. I fell in love with the non-wire feature too bad is more of a niche, so their a bit harder to find.

  • can it control music on 3gs or iphone, like forward, previous or pause Music?

  • @emailroy2002 Negative on that, only pause and play functions.

  • @FranksTechHelp is there any other earphones that can have a previous, next functionablity?

    tnx!

  • @emailroy2002 You could try the Plantronics Pulsar 260 but they aren't as streamline since they hang from your neck.

  • How to connect them to the iPhone ? My device can't find them in bleutooth settings

  • @Tanganyk13 Did you hold the power button down on headphones for 6 second until they start blinking non-stop?, this will put them in pairing mode, then should be able to see them.

  • Great video :D

  • Would I be able to have 2 headsets playing the music? ( I no you can do up to 3 on bluetooth but what about one normally plugged in and one connected via bluetooth?) pls answer Adam

  • @adamcjrocks I don't think it would work like this, playing one plugged in and one into bluetooth at the same time.

  • @FranksTechHelp ok i understand (but even if one headset had no control over the music?) let me know if you or anyone work out how to do it

    thanks adam

  • Plugged not Oliver

  • I'm thinking of getting the mw600's and was wondering if it's possible to plug a set of headsets into the socket on my iPhone, and then have the music playing through Bluetooth to the mw600's as well. Kinda like having to headphones Oliver in at the same time but one wireless thanks Adam :)

  • Just bought it and just re-packing it to send it back. Sorry but either you have pretty low quality standards or your IS800 are better than mine. Which can't be true because I tested them with a SE device and they sounded ok, with the Ipod they sound even worse than with the OS X Macbook and the OS X BT integration is terrible. For the record my Plantronics BT Stereo sound ok with the Ipod Touch (nice bass even)

So its a problem with the Ipod or with 4.2 or with the IS800 and Ipod in general...

  • @xcorpox Well that's no good, sorry to hear that you didn't like them. I am actually using these with my BlackBerry now and I can tell a distinct difference in the sound quality versus the iPod Touch, it's a lot better than the iPod by far.

  • @FranksTechHelp

the ipod is hissing and cracking, at deep EQ is barely good. Yes, they are nice, but not to be used with iOS device unfortunately, although the SE 205 and Plantronics work fine with the Ipod, so its somewhere in between

  • @xcorpox I'll have to take a look at the SE 205 and Plantronics and try to do a review, thanks for the advice. I look forward to checking them out.

  • @FranksTechHelp

The plantronics has been discontinued, but I really actually meant the mw600. The have the best audio quality and you can use any headset but its a bit bulky and needs a wire, the is800 could be great if they updated them

  • @FranksTechHelp

Thanks! I'll buy it when I have the time

  • Hey frank

Are these earphones also suitable for sweat cause I want to dance in them and will get pretty sweaty on them??

  • @black84ops I use them when working out and they work great. They are mostly a one piece construction so the chance of sweat getting inside in minimal. I say go for it!

  • how much did u pay for these and where did u get them ?

  • @Robertthegreat12 I paid around $100 on ebay, may be cheaper now but well worth the investment. I use them every day, even after a year they work awesome!

  • @FranksTechHelp

how is the battery after a while - I tested them a year ago and couldn't get pass 3.5 ~ 4 hours.

  • u should get virgin mobile pre pay phones, they have great deals

  • @blade83336 Too late, that's who I got my BlackBerry from and love the service! I have a review of these same headphones on my BB, just posted it last week. I agree though, love the VM service!

  • @FranksTechHelp VM is cool i just wish they had more phones but other than that its awsome :)

  • Thanks for the vid! Can you tell me if these go loud and hows the sound quality I like heavy dance music thanks

  • @davidgtr With iOS3 I had no control over the volume but was still pretty loud, iOS4 is suppose to fix the volume issue. I am using them with my BlackBerry right now (with volume control) and they crank man. I've never regretted buying these and still use them every single day. Hope this helps.

  • @FranksTechHelp Thanks for the reply I will be using them at the gym with my ipod 160 and a bluetooth adapter will that work for the sound thanks!

  • @FranksTechHelp

    iOS4 should've fixed it right?

  • @xcorpox Yes that is correct on iOS4

  • @FranksTechHelp

how is the battery life after a year?

  • @xcorpox Missed this the first time, sorry about that. The battery life is still great on mine, I average around 4 hours of solid use even after a year. No problems with breakdown at all, they just keep going. I also like the fact that they give me a 30 minute warning before they die out. Hope this helps.

  • Hi Frank,

Would you be able to tell me where i can buy this? is it available in any canadian retail stores?

  • @cmsanw I've never seen it any retail stores, got mine on ebay but you can check amazon as well.

  • Hi looks great, excellent review Frank

I got iPhone 4 and wonder if it will work for answering calls etc, understand the volume issue. Be great to hear about how it working out on the BlackBerry and phone calls

    Thanks

  • @daak1234 Yes it will work with your iPhone 4 and will handle calls just fine. The audio is also improved on the iPhone 4 as I understand.

  • Hi looks great, excellent review Frank

I got iPhone 4 and wonder if it will work for answering calls etc, understand the volume issue but answering calls on iPhone 4 would be great to hear about

    Thanks

  • @daak1234 You should be all set on the iPhone4, also the volume can be controlled now with iOS4. I use it with my Blackberry Curve 8530 and it works great for music and calls.

  • Hey!

I just got these for christmas and I'm really satisfied with them. The only problem is that the lid for the charging-contact is nearly impossoble to close and make is stay in its place. Do you also have this problem or is it a manufacturing problem with my headset you think?

  • @jagheterragnhild92 Sorry to hear that, mine stays in place with no problem. Maybe open and close it a few times to see if it fixes it, if not then not sure what to say. I will take a look at mine and see if I can figure out a solution for you.

  • @FranksTechHelp I managed to fix the problem myself. On the lid, on the thick side there is a small "lip" (?) which is supposed to grab a small movable plastic-thing on the earplug. I just took a razorblade, heated it up and melted a small part of the lip so it easier could grab the small plastic-thing on the earplug. Now it kind of works as I want it to. Thanks anyway!

    Great review by the way!

  • @jagheterragnhild92 Great DIY fix on your headphones, glad it worked out for you!

  • Hey, I really like these, and I would like to have one for christmas :D

In the middle of the video, you have put that iOS 4 now allows the volume to be controlled. Is this using your iPod Touch (I have 4G btw) volume rocker, or is it the buttons on the headset?

Also, do these tangle a lot?

  • @seongapple Yes on iOS4 you can control the volume with the side rocker. The headphones do not have volume control on the unit itself. And the unit rarely gets tangled, I've never had it tangle once. The clip on the back works awesome to keep them in place. Hope this helps and good luck, hope you get them for Christmas!

  • hello i live in england and is the sound quality good for the price ?

  • @MegaHolmez I've had mine for ten months now and very happy with it, the sound is good but depends on what you are using it with. I was using it with iPod Touch before but am now using it with my BlackBerry and sounds great!

  • @FranksTechHelp thanks for the feedback im getting one for christmas

  • Don't you need an adapter to use bluetooth headphones with an iPod Touch? I didn't see an adapter on his iPod in the video.

  • @gcwil Not on the 3rd gen, it's built in, on 2nd and 1st gen you will need an adapter.

  • I'm using Motorola S9 headphones atm and they won't connect to my laptop bluetooth, will these?

  • @locouk I use these with my MacBook bluetooth and they work great, also use them with my BlackBerry, hope this helps!

  • @FranksTechHelp Thanks, I'll check these out.. I love ear buds and these look ideal for my use.

  • If u get a 3.5mm jack Bluetooth transmitter of eBay or summit They can acted as wireless head phones anywhere not just on your idevice or handheld phone! : D

  • is there any way i could ajust the volume on my ipod touch? (ipod touch 3rd g 4.0 jailbroke)

  • I posted a lot of stuff based on my experience on another video here on utube, great not having cords around but horrible that i can't use them without an extra BT adapter (I will go deaf without volume control since the default volume is just extremely loud), battery is around 90 mins (only audio), and having earbuds is a P.I.T.A. (i love food pita's), the condensation inside the ear channel will make them fall out. they work even better with other phones were u can control the volume.

  • Has anyone noticed that with the update the volume control is great, but now the max volume is not as loud as it was b4 the update???

  • @d3javoodoo Hey you might try using the EQ setting and change it to rock or something that will boost the volume level a bit. I'm using a BlackBerry now with my BT Headphones so no way of testing the output for you, let me know if it work tho...

  • Good review, except for the anti-gay comment.

  • @MarkRaymondMedia Thanks for pointing that out, I removed the comment. I am not gay nor anti-gay. Guess I should have phrased that comment differently to reflect my point more concisely.

  • @FranksTechHelp Wow. I'm seriously impressed. I think most guys would have responded with anger. Thank you.

  • @MarkRaymondMedia No problem, I'm a straight white Christian dude but I also believe that people have the right to live life however they please. People who gay-bash are simply homophobes or hiding something in the closet in my opinion. I know a ton of straight people but also have some gay friends so I understand both sides of this subject.

  • So if I updated my 2nd gen. Itouch I will have access to volume control, right? And you're able to have track control through the itouch already, right?

  • @robxiong19 Yes this is correct, control tracks from ipod and the update should give you volume control.

  • the volume thing with the iphone/ipod is a huge deal breaker :(

  • @jmmo20 Agreed, but with os4 it's fixed, although I sold my iPod Touch and now use it with my BlackBerry and it rocks even harder!

  • Got mine since a week or so, and it's awesome! I had to get used to the inear phones at first, cause I have never used those before. Once I did - Freedom! Even for regular windows and itune use. :D

    Thanks for your help again!

  • i just got the sony hbh-is800. I use it on my iPhone4. i love it, and really appreciate your helpful video.

  • with the iPod touch 3G iOS4 the sound is Mono and not Stereo. Somebody know how to solve this? tks

  • Does it accept incomin call from the phone

  • @y3lva Someone just left a comment yesterday saying that it works for incoming calls on their iPhone 4, have not tested it with any other phones yet.

  • I use the HBH-IS800 with the iphone4 and it does double for music and phone . I just give a short press and the phone cuts in and the music automatically out. However what I think was dumb for such high tech design is that you can't change batteries w/out sending it to sony . I would rather carry an extra battery for extended use ! Oh well, go figure?

  • @plc5 They need to make a small battery pack that plugs into the normal jack that will will extend the battery life, that would be cool!

  • I haven't thought about this before, but does the headset connect itself with an Ipod Classic (and similar with a Bluetooth Adapter) upon activating Bluetooth?

'Cause usually you have to put in a code in order for the device to be recognized. >_>

  • @HixXxXxiH Yes, in fact I tested it with my friends classic cause he wants a pair of these and has an adapter and it hooked up fine. Not sure how it by-passes the code part but it worked fine.

  • @FranksTechHelp

Thank you very much, great to know!

  • is your bass on the headset good? mine so kinda weak and I'm using it with xperia x10i

  • @ngoniko The bass on mine is decent but not fabulous, my iPod Touch has different EQ settings to choose from so I can tweak it a little which helps but still not awesome.

  • how long does it last for your device? cos mine maybe around 12 or 13 standby ( around 4hours using)

  • @lovekhmer2008 From a full charge I also get about 4 hours of playtime. My standby time seems to be pretty good but if I leave it on standby it deducts time from the play back. Also after I finish charging I have to turn the unit off if I am not using it right away or it stays on.

  • great review

  • lol at 4:23. nice review anyways.

  • hey man! thanks alot for your review. I understand the volume controls not working with iOS, but how about track controls? how many buttons are there on the headphones? I've read that iOS 4 will also bring AVRCP for bluetooth track controls.

  • @danielhamekasi OS4 now allows you to control the volume from the ipod which is nice. The headphones only have the one button so no track switch for this unit.

  • Another update. It works with every single app I've used! Pandora, Last.fm, Wunder Radio, iheartradio, and YouTube! This was awesome on apple's part to include the volume control from the iPod/iPhone

  • @tjusafa14 Across the board, that's what I like to see! We were all hoping it would come with 3.1.3 but we didn't have to wait too long so I'm looking forward to getting my hands on 4.0 Thanks again for the updates!

  • The volume issue has been fixed in iOS 4.0. I have the gold master on my ipod touch and I just paired my old jaybird bluetooth headphones with it and the volume controls show up in the iPod (I haven't tested the likes of Pandora or Last.fm yet), the volume rocker also works too. I'm definately getting these HBH-IS800s now that the problem is fixed.

  • @tjusafa14 That's awesome news! I'm gonna have to do the 4.0 soon. I also hear it has a lot of other nice features. Thanks for the update!

  • @humberrr It's a Hawaii thing loser, now piss off...

  • You may be interested to know that the new Ipod/Iphone OS4 to be released this summer will have VOLUME CONTROL!!!! for bluetooth headsets.

And Thanks for the vid I ordered a pair today

  • @jonw180 I was reading up on that and it looks good to me! I was gonna dl the beta but will wait for the official release I suppose.

  • That's a very manly case man!

  • @emkplayboy6 It is for Hawaii, but I get your point... lol

  • If you use the rocker volume stwitch on the side of the ipod it does not turn it up or down?

  • @Trini0813 Unfortunately no...

  • are you sure that we can use them with ipod and iphones with bluetooth becauze i have a iphone 3gs soo

  • @DUKIMSZZ I have an iPod 3rd gen (newest) and they work great, so I would imagine they would work on the 3gs.

  • I got a question:

Shouldn't volume control work on Ipod Classics and older models with the use of a Bluetooth adapter? Since these Ipods don't go into some sort of special mode when the adapter is plugged in (meaning all controls are stil available there), we should be able to adjust the volume.

Can you varify this? Because I serach for wireless phones for quite long... It's annoying to have all this wirechaos everytime you want to listen to music. xP

  • @HixXxXxiH Yes, if you have an ipod bluetooth adapter then you will have control over the volume. I just sold my bluetooth adapter because I wanted to get rid of all the extra crap attached. These headphones do work very well even without volume control. Hope this helps.

  • Yeah, thanks! I think I will get these. Wireless freedom at last!

Can we use any silicone hoods for these? I can't seem to find special ones for this headset. I always want to have some, just in case I lose them. xP

  • @HixXxXxiH Haven't seen any silicon for these yet but it would be nice!

  • Nice video pretty informative, I just purchased the Sony Ericsson HBH-IS800 today and can't wait to try them out

  • I pay 192 in Sony Style is the best headphone I never had before I'm happy yeahhh

  • Nice video. Thanks

  • I want this, But I am Canadian and I can't find it anywhere! Where did you buy it from?

  • I got mine on ebay, just do a search for the model number and you should find some. Hope this helps.

  • with the exception of volume control, these are the best headphones money can buy in my opinion. Maybe with the 3.1.3 update/jailbrake we will get it....

  • I agree, they are really nice headphone despite the lack of volume control. I use them everyday now and love them regardless of volume control. Unfortunately 3.1.3 didn't fix anything regarding the volume control. Maybe next time... Thanks for posting and let me know if you find any new applications for this item.

  • Good review, very nice, however i got a few comments, i don't think the lack of volume control is an issue simply because all sony ericsson phones have buttons dedicated for volume control, i have seen many people rating this product really bad because they have an iphone, that's just an iphone fail not having external volume control buttons, 1 more thing, you should do a follow up review or just ad a pic at imageshack and link it here comparing the headphones buds size to a wired unit size

  • I agree that these headphones should not get a bad review simply because they lack volume control, they were not made for ipods, I'm lucky it works so that's good enough for me. Although, all of my other bluetooth headphones have volume control so it would have been nice. Make no mistake, I give these two thumbs up and I use them every day. I also try to clarify in my video that the lack of volume control is an issue with the ipod as well. I wouldn't trade these for any other pair!

  • @FranksTechHelp Thanks for the review. You indicate that volume cannot be adjusted with the Ipod Touch. Can the volume be adjusted when used with non Ipod devices such as SE Walkman series cellphones (such as the W580i) or Nokia cellphones?
