This is a wonderful video. I can remember the first time I saw Doc in concert. It was at a little music club in Johnson City, TN called "Down Home". A really small venue that will hold about 125 at standing room capacity. I remember drinking ice cold beer and seeing this treasure of a man perform and wishing that night would last forever. Since that night back in 1987 I spent my early 20's at that little club listening to some of the best music ever made.
The Wikipedia entry for "Gerdes Folk City is worth checking out. Among the singers I heard are: Bob Dylan, the Greenbriar Boys, John Lee Hooker, Brother John Sellers, Tom and Jerry (Simon and Garfunkel), Jean Richie, Rosovelt Stykes, The Clancy Brothers, Phil Ochs and many others. Remember I only heard performers who played there in the first half of the sixties. That was the 4th street location. Gerdes later moved and continued into the seventies.
Interesting to hear. I have the Doc at Gerdes folk city cd. I always laugh when he starts one of his numbers saying 'this one must be the tape recorder mic'. He has good dry humour.
@fridrikur Doc Watson is blind. I imagine that there were two mikes. One for Gerdes sound system (a little on the scratchy side) and another mike hooked up to the tape recorder. I be he just wanted to be certain that he was singing into the recording mike. Funny though, the record wasn't released until 2001. Go figure. Of course, Doc Watson has dozens of other recordings.

@Tripleaught18 Hi. Glad you like Doc Watson. He is one of the great hill country singers. And from all I've seen a wonderful man into the bargain.

@ZZBob777 Yes I know he is blind. I love the concert and have a lot of other cd's with great flapticker, singer, and fingerstyle guitarplayer.
