  • Sandy Newman, the lead singer in this video, only sang lead vocals on one Marmalade hit, "Falling apart at the seams". The only original Marmalade member still with the band is bass player, Graham Knight.

When Dean Ford and Junior Campbell were in Marmalade they were really something!!

  • NOT Dean Ford & this video is totally devoid of the magic he provided.

  • Is that Ray Winstone making a guest appearance in this clip playing the trumpet?

  • I saw them at Butlins Bognor Regis last weekend at the 60's Festival,,, and trust me when I say... He can't sing now.. I have seen this band 10 times over a 15 year period.. and it was pityfull to watch and listen....... Probally time to bow out gracefully and remember they way they were and not how they are now,,, just sad old men

  • Are you people serious...criticizing his look ? Men go bald or thin out and the best look is to just shave the rest off...I think he's handsome AND sings beautifully....you are probably all fat and have gross receding hair lines that make a little clown ring or a comb over !! I can't believe I'm even responding here !

  • Thouroughly enjoyable.......

    xx

  • Please saw Marmalade Skegness oct 2009 ,for me made the night.Sandy Newman just a good singer as Dean Ford.

  • dean ford!!,you blastard!!! when did you go bald!!! mr junior campbell did better when you let him leave, what the hell is youre daft bald look all about?? are you trying to be tough??

  • thestevo46 This is Sandy Newman NOT Dean Ford

  • you better not be the hero of the marmalade of the sixties, you baldy.....are you joking??the lead singer of scotland's finest, bald,on a harley?? fcuk off pal...

  • ...and thats coming from youre f......,biggest fan in glasgow, bald stuff,f... off

  • bald means aggrivation, wake up you prick

  • To find the original, type "wait for me mary anne" in the search box

  • Dean Ford or wee Tommy McAleese (Dean's real name) from Coatbridge. He started of working for my father in law as a storeman in a car parts owned by house of fraser.

  • New or original, who cares, if you cant have the originals you get what's on offer - thank god theyre keeping the music alive, and doing a damn great job if you ask me. We cant wait to see them LIVE tomorrow (26th March 09) at The Frog & Wicket, Eversley Cross, Hampshire Rg27 0NS from 9.00pm. 40 years on & reviving memories with tunes like these - fab! By the way look up the Velvet Hearts, lead singer is Sandy Newmans son - now they really are something.

  • DEAN RULES !!

  • After all these years, this is still such a sweet song...And guys,I am sure this is Dean Ford--remember 40 years have gone by...I love the Marmelade <3

  • No, this is the cover band, fronted by Sandy Newman - this is a re-record. regards

    SPOT THE RINGERS

  • fkn imposters

  • looks like this was done at the saltcoats labour club lads, but we still love you,the BAR_L.

  • Dont want to offend anyone, but any song can be song but the original Singer is the one we remember,if he is gone you have lost the song. Anyone can reproduce a cord !

  • horrible!

  • no,your horrible,you smell bad dude.

  • Sorry, but this wasn't a top 20 hit, well not in the UK. In fact, I don't think it even made the top 30.

Marmalade are not the same without Dean Ford's distinctive vocals.

  • Reached number 30 - Oct '68 ( not this re-record, the Original)

  • Thanks for the correction

  • dean ford was the singer here you plonker

  • I think we've established it's not Dean Ford. I have a two CD set of the group's stuff and several of the old singles, including this song. I celebrate the fact that Graham Knight kept the group going, but there is only one Dean Ford/Tommy McAleese

  • Oh Lord, this is one of my favourite songs - but it's such a poor cover. The original song featured the original singer of THE MARMALADE:

Thomas McAleese or Dean Ford as he later called himself later. And he had a GREAT voice. The ORIGINAL single had a REAL brass section and a REAL strings section on it - and not these synthesizer sounds "out of the box".

By the way - Dean Ford COULD REACH those high notes when he sang "... but I remember summer skies".

  • @ernieoriginal Please join the Dean FOrd - Singer/Songwriter Facebook group!

  • Great Howard/Blaikley song. Can't understand why it wasn't a much bigger hit.

  • on of my favourites of the group, never seen the video b4 tho, sandy is such a nice bloke(met him a few times)

  • Julle Julle Julle! -this is a cover version

  • even so,still a good song by them. lol. j

  • This is great. This was never released in NZ as a single, instead it went to a local group, Dedikation, who made it one of the top local hits out of 1969. They did quite a good raw and gutsy version too. Shame I can't find it on video anywhere, I'd put it on youtube.

  • Luckely my Marianne did wait for me...married now for 30 years with my Marianne..stil love you,girl...XXX

  • I think it's a very nice song! I already knew it and

    the video is superb. Thanks!

  • lollyqols - if you go back to the 1960's can you take me with you!. So much music from that decade stands the test of time.

  • Thanks spikemunro for a wonderful post.

  • Takes me way back to the 60's. I have forgotten some of the good bread and butter songs its good to have the opportunity to hear them once more.

  • This song is so catchy. If I didn't know better I would swear that this is the train station at Llandrindod Wells, Wales. It's the spitting image of it.
