The Dodgers were owned for years by the Ebbets family, who never agreed on anything and were always looking to sue each other. The lawyer who handled Charles Ebbets's will and probate, who caused this state of affairs, ended up having to buy the club in order to rectify the damage he'd done. That shyster was one Walter O'Malley. One wonders who the modern-day equivalent will be who will end all the silliness in the Dodger Divorce Wars.
This is such a great nostalgic video. Could you imagine if the Dodgers had remained in Brooklyn after the 1957 season, the Brooklyn fans would have cheered on one of their own in Sandy Koufax, and seen their bums win three more World Series in 59, 63 and 65.
My Grandfather would of enjoyed this. He passed away in 1997 before youtube was invented or thought of. He was born (1925) and raised in Greenpoint. Through his life he always remained a Brooklyn fan but became a Mets fan.
Terrible music selection. Baseball is about action, and yelling, and having fun. This slow-paced number by Billy Joel just adds to Major League Baseball's current status as a vehicle for nostalgia and nothing more.
@mozmex This video is about the real Dodgers. Not the LA Dodgers the Dodgers died in 57 along with Giants. You can't be an LA Dodgers fan and a Brooklyn Dodgers fan.
Long live the brooklyn dodgers they had great fans they were americas team they played in brooklyn la dodger fans sucks compared to brooklyn dodgers fan and the dodgers have been out of brooklyn for over 50 years. brooklyn should and will get a MLB team and so will New York cuase the giants havnt won anything in 50 years in san francisco and even though the san francisco giants are not playing in anemptystadium they still haveno fanbasecomaredtotheold NYgiants thisvideomakesmakes me want to cry.
I feel for you guys. I'm lucky no team of mine here have left, but I feel it would be like my Cubs moving. You live and die with the team, and especially since the Yankees kept winning, 1955 had to be the best year ever for you. I'm still waiting for my 1955, but my Cubs are not going anywhere.
I lived in brooklyn & Queens most of my life and what your saying about Brooklyn Dodger fans rooting for the Los Angeles Dodgers is like saying I love my wife and I'll love her no matter who she sleeps with....
Exactly. I'm not old enough to have been around during the days of the Brooklyn Dodgers, but my family grew up in Brooklyn and were Dodger fans and the when the Dodgers left they died. What made the team so great was the city, and the borough. Imagine your favorite team moving to a place that is so different from your own, and on the other side of the country. The LA Dodgers aren't the Brooklyn Dodgers, they are the result of a team betraying a city. The true Dodgers are dead.
listen man, know your facts. the dodgers wanted to stay, but they were forced out, besides if they wouldve stayed they wouldnt have been in brooklyn anymore they would have been somewhere around where the mets are today, besides i dont here you guys griping about losing the giants to san fransisco.
that sucks that the dodgers left broklyn all the fans in L.A are so pathetic they get there late and leave early what kind of fans are those they sould move the dodgers back to brookyln i think the fans whould be very dedicated and the giants should move back to new york.
I wish we could have the Brooklyn Dodgers again. Why not trade the Mets for the Dodgers?

That famous "Jackie trying to steal home photo" shows that the umpire blew the call.
I'm not a Yankee, Giant, or Dodger fan . . . but Robinson was clearly "out" on this
play. Yogi tore into the ump afterwards, 'cause he knew that he had 'em.

I don't think this song could possibly be cast in a more relevant video.

This is a very good tribute to the Dodgers of Brooklyn and to Ebbets Field. I enjoyed it, and the choice of music is also appropriate.
Thanks for posting, friend.

Robinson was OUT on that "steal" of home. Yogi has the tag on him at 3:08, check it out. The ump missed it!

Thanks for the post also. I grew up in Chicago, (So you know who I'm a fan of)
But my Dad was a big Brooklyn Dodgers
fan in the day. So for me, I kind get a feel of the game and the team my Dad loved.

there seemsw to be alot of nastalgia for the dodgers but so much for the giants , any ideas or comments on that?
mrmarkymark77 2 years ago
Giants never really had their own stadium. Manhattan lost a lot of actual residents in exchange for more office space, and Robert Moses is an a-hole.

mrmark...the Dodgers are loved partially because of the great book, Boys of Summer. And the Giants didn't have Duke, Pee Wee and of course, Jackie.

Why are fans in Brooklyn so bitter? Just root for the team. Who cares where they are.

People don't realize that the dodgers were the team to root for when they were in Brooklyn. Their fan base was so solid. Go Dodgers!
