Does anyone remember the pbs cartoon that had a girl coming out of a brownstone house with a big red hat and singing this song believe it or believe in... what was her name?
wow!! this brought back so many great memories!! Billy Jo Jive was one of my favorite SKITS ON S.S. Ted Shearer's art needs to reintroduced to this generation of kids...they need it!
I LOVE Ted Shearer's drawing style, and seeing it animated (even minimally on a low budget) is a real trip. If only kids' shows in the 70s that were actual cartoon shows (as opposed to short cartoon skits on a mostly live-action show like this one) had been half this visually interesting.
That said, does anyone else think these Billy Joe Jive segments are way too sophisticated for the target audience age? They seem really out of place here, even for the edgier '70s incarnation of this show.
People think I'm crazy when I ask them about Billy Jo Jive from Sesame Street! LOL After all these years, I've found it and now I know it wasn't a figment of my imagination! LOL
Here's another blast from the past! What I wanna know though is where's that Billy Jo Jive episode where Billy says "Hold on tight, everything's gonna be all right!"? If I remember right (going back about 20 years), that was like his catchphrase. I could be wrong though...
"Susie Sunset" was the name my dad used when we played cards together Pee wee poker! candy or cookies was the wagering colateral! Otherwise my dad hated sesame street...
OMFG, thanks!!! I have searched the internet for YEARS trying to find clips, and they were not ANYWHERE! No one even knew what it really was!! If you have more post 'em! Haven't seen them since the 1970s!!!
All I could remember about this was the cool music and a character called wrongway. Nobody knew what I was talking about. Thanks for posting this. I've been thinking about it for 25 years.
I could never remember *where* this clip was from, and I spent about 20 years trying to figure it out. The last time I remember seeing it I was about 6 years old. What an awesome find!
never did care for the little nerd acting like he was all that. but i think i appreciate him more now that i am older.
the farty-sounding theme song always seemed like it was trying to be a soap commercial to me. borax (dum da da dum da da dum dum), borax (dum da da dum da da dum dum) etc...
..lolz...my fav!!

Hi I'm Elena from Italy.
Anybody can tell me in what year this episode appeared for the first time?
It's very important because it's for my university report graduation.
Thanks a lot.

That series has been updated to today's standards.
They don't air those segments anymore.
The don't even play that "old school jam session" after the end of the Sesame Street credits is over, either.
In 7th grade we used to watch a news program called "Behind The Lines" in Ms. Banks' class.
If anyone attended Amelia County (Virginia) Public Schools back in the mid 70s to 80s, y'all know what I am talkin' 'bout! :)
