it is complicated Alcmene is believed to be his mother. ANd Hera was believed to ahve want to kill him, but than I read that sometimes she is his mother or took care of him. If any on knows the exact answer please leave me a comment.

The real myth goes that Zeus cheated on Hera and pretended to be Alcmene's husband for three days and got her pregnant with Hercules. Hera got really angry after she found out but in some versions the other goddess tricked Hera into breast feeding Herc when he was sick. When she realized who he was she pulled him off and her milk sprayed making the Milky Way.

Well wikipedia has info on almost everything, but I don't know how good the greek mythology pages are (having never read them). I do have a cool book on mythology called "D'aulaires' Book of Greek Myths", maybe you can find that at your library.

this is a fun clever cartoon aimed at 3 to 11 year old children {who dont care}and their parents who can recognize the inaccuracies and laugh at them.You need a very good knowledge of the myths and an excellent sense of humour to appreciate the show.

That is so awesome that they have Betty White playing the voice of Hestia. You know, now that I have learned some of the Greek Mythology stories, I find it weird between the relationship of Zeus and Hera, yes they are husband and wife, but they are brother and sister, of course they don't mention it in the film and cartoons, because man, if I had learned that as a kid my mind would have been warped!

But yes, the Bible has been edited and rewritten several times over the centuries, most notably under the reigh of King James II of England, who smoothed over the rough parts.Just like Bullfinth cleaned up and codified the myths in {1824??} I think. Before he came along the literature of mythology was extremely disorganized.
