  • I'm wanting to start coyote hunting soon with a .22lr, i was wondering what the kill zone is you aim for?

  • Hey nice shot bro!!! I know how hard it is to put a coyote down with a 22LR. You made two very clean shots from quite a distance away. I love that you are able to hunt them at night by spotlight. Are you from Texas??? I live in Kansas due to the military and there is no spotlighting here. I wanna go back home to Austin where we can actually do some good predator hunting.

  • Don't kill it unless you are going to eat it you redneck douche

  • ew dude, use something bigger that's gonna put 'em down with one shot.

  • @EAZYCOUCHESDOTCOM

He wasn't getting up my friend. The second one is to end it quicker for the dog. I could of just let him lay there and suffer for a few minutes, right? I've killed more Coyote with my .22 then most people could with an atomic bomb.

  • @RonManci 246,000? lol I get where you're coming from, I'd just rather see 'em flop over dead from one .243 than squirm a bit from a .22lr.

  • @EAZYCOUCHESDOTCOM in some places you cant. in the county i live in you cant use anything larger than a 22 unless its for groundhog...laws are laws and you use what you can. i think this is more humane than a trap where the animal will try to gnaw off its own foot. ive seen deer quickly killed with only one pellet of 00 buck and that is no bigger or faster than a 22 bullet.

  • @EAZYCOUCHESDOTCOM in WV youre legally only allowed to use a .22 cal rimfire at night....gotta have good shot placement

  • if it can do that to a coyote from that distance you could defiantly kill a deer with a head shot inside 50 yds

  • I use only Russian 12.7 mm x 109 mm tracer or explosive penetrator without that you can not kill a coyote.

  • @aviomaster

    Your funny. Mutant Coyotes, lol.....

  • They use the 223 usually on tv

  • I use a .223 it is not so powerful that it ruins the meat but not to weak either.

  • @kenzierainn Are you saying you eat coyote meat?

  • I've popped a couple of Coyotes using my M1 carbine, both nice clean 1-shot kills using the Federal jacketed soft points.

  • Really too far for a 22lr. Was that about 75 yards? Wasn't a headshot, was it? I'd look into a .17hmr or good old .22 wmr to take 'em at those distances.

  • @yourgoodsons

I have a 17hmr and a 22mag. I choose to use the 22lr. It has never been an issue. Nice and quite at night.

  • @RonManci

Not bad at all. Is that an apple orchard or something your hunting in?

  • @RonManci quiet?

  • @EAZYCOUCHESDOTCOM

    yea, thats it

  • Comment removed

  • @yourgoodsons Better shot placement; not a faster, "better" cartridge would have made it a 1-shot kill. .22 LR will do just fine.

  • i shot 1 with a .22 chasing a rabbit it did a barrel roll and tried gettin up to chase the thing before i put another in it, it was a 60 pound male

  • @DBiker33

I've killed a ton of Coyotes over the years but never a 60 pounder.

  • Coyotes killed my sister's pet beagle... they don't make it out of my sights either.

  • hands down the best coyote gun is a 7mm ;)

  • @BoarsBucksAndBeards

way too much! I don't use a .22lr because I think it's the best gun for the job. I use it because it doesn't wake the neighbors at night. I would say the best round for Coyote is either 22-250, .223, or .243. A 7mm will destroy the pelt.

  • @RonManci

    Yup!

might as well keep the pelt if you shoot em. worth about $80 bucks here. pays the gas at least.

  • @79Testo 80 where you living i get 20 in norrthern michigan

  • @troutcreekkid

    ontario...

my friend got $80 for his last year...don't know why.

    average might be $60 atleast

  • @RonManci

.22lr is the best job for coyote you think?

my friend hunts them exclusively with .22 mag out to 75 yards max!

    do you use holowpoints?

I would use 40 grain for sure though, winchester RN or HP's

  • @BoarsBucksAndBeards a 7mm will take down a buck!

  • @BoarsBucksAndBeards that's like me saying the best rifle for rabbit is a 223

  • Thanks for coyote hunting. They kill countless Deer fawns, rabbits, and squirrels (not to mention countless Non-game animals) every year. Without natural predators they become overpopulated and destroy entire food chains very fast. I appreciate all that hunt them, as it's vital for proper balance and they are very smart and tuff to hunt. Keep up the coyote hunting and keep protecting other animals right to live. Overpopulation of coyotes = destruction of all other game species......Thanks!!

  • I have well over 20 dead Coyotes with my .22lr. I have never lost a dog I shot at. Does not need to be a head shot with the proper ammo. Here is a pic of a through and through chest shot from 75 yards. 22lr is plenty of gun for a Coyote. Proof is in the pudding. Oh yea, I have zero respect for Coyotes, hate em.

  • 22 is to small unless u are skilled enough to get a head shot every time so use a biger caliber round next time ok respect the game i use a 243 for my yote gun

  • @arbee49684, why dont you fuck off. dont watch videos on hunting if youre gonna cry like a little bitch every time someone kills something

  • I am not a tree hugger, nor am I a vegan, nor am I anti gun. I simply think that morons like you shouldn't have guns, or bows or anything that requires intelligence not just bloodlust. That's all.

  • @arbee49684

so what are you? anti-hunting? are just someone that like to complain?

  • @arbee49684 REALLY... DO you have any idea what diseases they have, and what a problem they are to a lot of people. They kill your small animals, live stock, even go after small children. They are no good for anything. Until you have lived where they are bad and you lost money do to them killing your baby calves, you have no room to talk about killing them.

  • @arbee49684 dude its hunting just go in your house and cuddle in a dark corner

  • Could have killed this animal faster by beating it to death with a box of Kleenex. Animal died of lead poisoning. Be a better shot, use a bigger gun or leave the animals alone- "varmits" or not.

  • @arbee49684

This is no place for tree-huggers! If you liked that you would really love my bow hunting video's.....The only good Coyote is a dead Coyote.

  • i dropped a coyote on the spot from 30 yards shot it in the neck, going for a head shot but i was in a hurry cuz it was chasing fawns and stopped just for a second.. the bullets i use are sold in 550 round boxes, but they shoot better than any other bullets thru my gun..and actually mushroom out..i have several bullet i have dug out of the ground that are perfectly mushroomed, even found one in a squirrel i shot from long distance. They are Remington golden bullets, 36 grains, about 1300fps.

  • I use my 22 for hunting Rhino's in the tall grass. It's all about shot placement.

Biggest collection of tools I've ever seen.

  • @perduk1 Actually, its important we discuss the proper choice in calibre, grain, and type of bullet (hp or whatnot) to ensure a quick humane kill. Its not being a "tool".

  • thanks for the info bud, i went out a week ago and missed a big ass dog i was walking to my spot and jumped him and i took a shoot at him on a dead run but miss so i guess ill get him next time. have you got anymore dogs since the last time we chatted?

i get some new gear for Xmas so i hope it help's me out but anyways i hope u have a marry Xmas and ill ttyl bud.

  • we shoot coyotes with 22's all the time here in newfoundland it's what most people use. and belive me it gets the job done

  • some ppl man like you and me have been sayin bigger is not the best sometimes like when u sell the hide u cant have a big ass hole in them..

and hardypunk11 the 22lr i have is a M4 model in a 22lr looks the same as the gun i have used for the last 8 yrs hunting ppl but the army M4 is a 223 i have a 22lr.

ronmanci i just thought of something right u know how ppl been saying use this and that and a shotgun has came up a few times right?

well if u think about the range on a shoot gun is 50yrds!

  • As someone with a fair amount of predator hunting experience, I have seen yotes soak up some serious punishment. IMHO, coyote hunters need more gun than a 22LR. As the video proves, head shots are not a certainty.

  • @redmountainranger some people are so ignorant! ugh! dude you don't need a f*ucking 30-06 to kill something. shot placement is more important to a kill that how big and fast the projectile is. example: if someone gets shot in the foot with a 50cal. and someone gets shot in the heart or right between the eyes with a .17cal who's going to die? I thought so.

  • @redmountainranger I've never lost a Coyote or Fox that I've shot with the .22. Doesn't have to be head shots only. I've had through and through chest shots from over 75 yards and the Coyote only ran 30-40 yards. Gets it done nice and quietly.

  • @redmountainranger

I have seen coyotes take off running after a direct hit with 00 buckshot from a 12 gauge. There is NO sure kill for any animal with any weapon - that's what makes hunting challenging. I have dropped many coyotes, wild hogs, and even a deer with a .22LR....it's a very underrated weapon.

  • @CaneFu If you put a 12ga slug through a yotes chest it will drop unless your yotes are eating PCP or somethin but if you want the fur .22LR is the way to go

  • @Holio69

If you shoot a coyote with a bazooka it will also die instantly - what's your point???

  • @CaneFu I was being a smartass I wasnt tryin to offend you because you said there is no sure kill for any animal with any weapon

  • @redmountainranger Everybody sees the .22lr as a weak rifle but what people dont know is that its capable of bringing deer down and even a person

  • Hey what kind of 22 lr was that

  • @hardypunk11 Savage model 64.

  • ya well with the new M&P 15-22 i cant use the stingers so that suck but life goes on right.

well i was talking to this one guy and to make it short he was saying you need something more then a 22lr well I sometime tell ppl things they don't to hear but i just said that ya i have to work a littler hard to get them in closer but the 22 still does the job, i try not to shot over a 100ydsso what is your range u wont go over??

  • im with u cause i have been useing a .22lr for a long time and hell u can take a deer down with a .22lr if u know where to shot it at so dont mind there other ppl ok.

so how far where u out when u shoot him?

i try to keep my shots under 100yards so ya but do u have any other videos?

im going to try bobcat hunt this yr and going to use my S&W m&p 15-22 so what do u think of that idea?

what ammo u use by the way ?

    i use cci stinger's there 1640fps

drop me a line when u have the chance thank

  • @cuteguy999923 I prefer the Velocitors. 40 grain and just a little slower at 1450 fps. That was about 35 yards or so.

  • CCI stingers are what i use, work great on pa yotes ;)

  • people say a 22lr can't kill these things bs.

  • Shotgun is best at night.

  • Needs ,ore suppressor

  • dropped him yee

  • Proof you don't need super powered stuff to 'git `r dun' just accurate bullet placement.

  • Proof you don't need super powered stuff to 'git `r dun' just accurate bullet placement.

  • Those look like baby kittens compared to the yotes we get here. Shit the ones here are practically full blown german shepard size lol. I got a vid on my channel showin one of them. Big fuckers. BTW nice shooting.

  • @SupremeAmerican

The one in the video was about 35 pounds. I've shot a 42 pounder once.

  • @SupremeAmerican

Where are you? These are Eastern Coyotes with Wolf DNA. They don't get much bigger then they do around here. I saw your video. Didn't look any bigger then the locals to me.

  • @RonManci I'm in north eastern Kansas. Overrun with deer (yote food) to the point the police shoot them to keep population down. Where are you at? That yote doesnt give me a good perspective cuz it is so far away in the vid. Wolf DNA they should be big suckers lol.

  • @SupremeAmerican

    Upstate NY

  • @RonManci nice vid there are a shit load of coyotes up in maine the deer herd is hurting so bad up here

  • @SupremeAmerican I live in Maine. We've got coyotes up here that are well over 75 pounds. An average coyote weighs 35-40 pounds.. But there are a handful killed every year that exceed the 75 pound mark.. State record is 114 pounds.. They're BIG up here!

  • @SupremeAmerican ha...i watched your vid your coyote looks like a fox compared where im at...try to have yotes n wolves come in to your calls and having to chase the wolves away cuz thier endangered...and at times its hard to tell the difference. come up to michigan's upper peninsula and ill show ya some dogs..

  • @missionhockey42 well we dont get any wolves or anything like that here, just bobcats and yotes. Got some traps set , might try some calling too.

  • @missionhockey42 That was a 34 pound female. They average about 40 pounds. Plenty of big Dogs right here. BTW, the NYS record is 115 lbs....2004, Hilton, NY.

  • i picked up the velocitors for that same reason, heavire projectile than the stingers, and better accuracy, was that also the same coyote you took two shots on or a different one, and where were you placing the shots? just curious because i think iam going to start using my 22 for coyote instead of my 30-30

  • @1gamoguy

The one in the video I took two shots on. Both head shots. What other one are you referring to?

  • @RonManci ok it was the same yote then, youtube froze and started playing again, didnt know if it was a different dog or not, iam supprised it took 2 head shots with the velocitors to put it down though, those hit pretty damn hard

  • @1gamoguy

first shot grazed him. He moved his head right as I was pulling the trigger. second one hit home.

  • @RonManci ahhh nice, i have a remi 597 for my 22LR was thinking about picking up another 597 at our local gun shop but in 22MAG for the yotes, just so that way i can get a little farther shots if need be and know i still have the power to put em down, 30-30 just dozes them, and is not the most friendliest when wanting to sell the pelts lol

  • what gun are you using?

  • @colindomo1234

    Savage model 64

  • Why are you amazed? I never lost one with the .22lr. Killed everyone I shot. Got 5 last season. Had more than one shot go through and through. If a 22lr will kill an person what makes you think it won't kill a coyote. This was a 40 yard shot with CCI Velocitors 40 grain.

  • I'm amazed that you would try to get something as big as a coyote with a 22LR.

  • @penguinistas i've killed enough things with a 22 to be fairly confident in taking something as small as a coyote with it, but maybe not a cougar or a wolf lawls.

  • @EliteAmericans stfu with your tall tales. punks

  • Is a .22 mag better then a .22 lr no matter what because it is bigger? Or do they both have their seperate advantages?? Somebody please share what you know.

  • @SummerVacation2011 22 magnum flings a 40 grain bullet at ~2,000 fps. 22longrifle flings a 40 grain bullet at ~1100 fps. It varies a lot, but the 22mag is generally twice as powerful.

  • @EliteAmericans nooo wrong buddy a .22wmr does 40g at 2,000fos but the .22lr with aguila interceptors new bullets it can achieve close to 1500fp right around 1475. They are literally the same the wmr is just slightly more powerful. Either way they can take the same game just as ez. People say a .22lr is to small of a bullet...but they say a .22wmr is perfect, a 40 grain is a 40grain the interceptors can take a coyote in its sleep trust me ive taken pleanty a .22lr is plenty for coyotes thanks

  • @dirtrox72 i wasn't wrong. The 22wmr is generally twice as powerful in terms of fpe as the 22lr. I also expressed my complete confidence in using a longrifle to kill coyotes. It is very doable.

  • @EliteAmericans ok ya thats better but the interceptors have around 195- 215fpe depend the 40 gr wmr has around 300 so it doesnt have doubt about 25% id say but good observation i didnt think of that

  • @EliteAmericans CCI 22lr. Velocitors are 40 grain 1465 fps.

  • What ammo?

  • i have been looking for a coyote hunting video with a .22lr for some time. i know most say don't do it however, where i am in canada, you can't hunt them with anything larger than a .22 rimfire if it's open season for anything else. I would really like to see the damage it does. at what distances can you kill it with one shot? what kind of penetration do you get? i'd be very interested in seeing results.
