@couyang2 They might taste good, but they honestly don't supply you with the nutrients you need while on the trail. I have had them, I felt full but I never had any energy. I would rather just grab a few MRE's and call it done for food, its easy to heat up and light weight yet it give you everything you need and more, that and a few of them really do taste good, just stay away from the omelets, they are just sick.
@adamslurch71 This is true, but if you had a choice of chemical air or clean air, which one would you pick. I can tell you where to get very convenient survival foods with no chemicals if you like. You can even try before you buy for free!
@purity4all And yet the weight more then an MRE and cost more too. The chemicals your talking about what are there and where is your source for you information?
Backpacking doesn't consist of eating dirt pies and earthworms. The man is giving tips on lightweight packing. If you don't want to hear good tips in backpacking go watch something else. Would you rather carry a 30 lb pack or a 50 lb pack?
last time i went we took 2lbs king crab legs and 2 lbs shrimp 18 beers each two beers each went in to the boil. i would only eat that freeze dried crap if i was on the run
Good to see this American completely missing the point of camping. if he wants all his luxeries he shoulda stayed at home. The stuff he's showing is only good for camping in your back garden.
ca. 2 - 3 kilos of food for a weekend camping trip....cool :) na not realy. i use army rations, most from france or (better i think) from germany called EPA...in right use its around 500 g per day and u good REAL food not that american chemo crap.

At first I was wondering why this video was so bad but then I saw it was made by expertvillage. Almost all of the videos from expertvillage are horrible.
you can also take tea bags... my brain is dirty.

@mrsparex All he shows is like 1 days worth of food.....
If you want to carry say 3600 Kcals of food under 1 lb weight just take Datrex packs.
Ohh and a 50 lb pack aint that much really, especially if you carrying some good quality retort pouches.
Retort pouch x3 a day @ 300g each = 900g so just under 2 lb, a 3 day hike would be like 6 lb worth of food.
It's hardly a back breaking weight for better quality of food.
