I don't believe that any animal (whether in captivity or in the wild) should be given a death sentence when it kills a human being or pet. I believe that when a person lives or hikes in the mountains, they automatically make the choice of having a chance encounter with a wild animal (think of the "The Grizzly Man"). I also think that animal trainers must accept their potential fate of working with wild animals and that the animals should be protected.

Second, bears use instincts, they don't know the difference between right and wrong. Even if the bear wasn't stressed and was living in an environment they're completely use to, they are still potentially dangerous animals. Bears are bears and they will always be bears.

They all gave the same story, which is not nearly as accurate as this one. @Chitownboy1023 I do agree with freeing bears, but what really makes a bear dangerous is that first of all, it isn't an animal that can be domesticated like a dog. Second, bears use instincts, they don't know the difference between right and wrong. Even if the bear wasn't stressed and was living in an environment they're completely use to, they are still potentially dangerous animals. Bears are bears and they will always be bears.

@Chitownboy1023 Yes, this is why so many WILD bears attack humans, too. Bears are bears. They have strong predatory instincts, and they'll follow those on a whim. People working with them know this (or they should), and since a captive bear is around humans more than wild ones, the likelihood of an attack is increased, not because the bear feels misjudgment or mistreatment, but because it's a freaking bear.

This was a freak accident, they have pepper spray on hand but they do this so much it was unexpected so they weren't as ready to spray it. Hesitate? You didn't see the whole camera angle you don't know if he had to pick it up or what. That's what caused his death? @SarahBelieves The bear was well trained. The same bear had never had any violent accidents before, and they had rehearsed for the scene many times.
The news story is inaccurate about his death. The first bite was what caused the fatal injury. A main artery in his neck was severed, and the nearest hospital would take hours to drive to. He bled out for over an hour before paramedics arrived.
Also, Daniel Tosh used the clip of the attack for a joke, making fun of the fact the guy got attacked.

@mm1k3y There's a much more accurate documentary on either Animal Planet Discovery. It interviews the people who were there when it happened, and those who gave him first-aid right after it happened. They all gave the same story, which is not nearly as accurate as this one. It also interviewed one of the paramedics who arrived at the scene, saying that he arrived only about 1 hour after the 911 call was made.
Where is your source saying that he died immediately?

@mm1k3y They applied pressure to the wound to try and stop the bleeding, or at least slow it down. I don't think we're talking about the same documentary at all. The one I watched was about an hour long and went in to extreme detailabout what happened.
Also, if you get shot in the head and pass out it doesn't mean you're dead. There are many cases where people are shot in the head, the bullet doesn't hit the brain, but instead hits their throat, eyes, etc. They go unconscious because of shock.
