Your first time shooting and it's with a 1911?! I'm jealous! My first time shooting was with a wimpy .22. :p Ever since I started I've always wanted to shoot the classic 1911 colt.

I noticed some guy is correcting your stance. Your stance is perfectly fine. It could use some corrections but other than that, having your strong foot back is a stable stance (Assuming your strong foot is right foot). but your left thumb should be parallel to your right thumb and side by side (Better grip). Also it's perfectly fine to bend your elbows unlike someone said earlier, in a combat movement shooting, you have to bend your elbows. Anyways good job and I'm sure you are superb now.

I've found that the best way to shoot for most shooters is like this: Arms straight, shoulders even. Bend your arms slightly, so it's comfortable. Then, legs like a martial arts stance, with your dominant hand side (in this case, right) leg back slightly, to stabilize. Then lean forward into the gun, and have a grip pretty much like yours - hands high on the gun, thumbs forward. Good job for a first time, too!
