I always think of this song and Counting Blue Cars by Dishwalla together, cause the lyrics are very deep about meeting GOD or trying to meet her... LOL
So many songs in the 90's used the phrase "everything falls apart" or "all falls apart" "falls apart..." was a big thing back then...irony is things are really falling apart now and nobody's really got much to say about it lol
I met God this afternoon riding on an Uptown train; I said, "Don't you have better things to do?" He said, "If I do my job, what would you complain about? So I let it go to Hell; now I'll have something to do." He said, "I let it go to Hell...does that sound familiar to you?"
@hiei8888 I used to play bass in a bar/covers band and sometimes I'd sing this one. The line "...The devil's in my pants" kind of takes on a little different meaning when a female sings it.
Quite a interintesting song, it's a great story if you just listen! I Love learning the reality of life and all of it's faces! My beautiful daughter has opened my eyes to the reason men and woman exist together! I love you Elizabeth, Your Daddy-Jerry Lee
I can realte in so many ways. So many lyrics. From the got go here by pissi'n off all my friends, to when things start to go weel i start to dobut it, such a great song!!!!
@BassPlayerSusan Look at the guy coming out of the barbershop around the 3:00 minute mark. I think that is the person in the red wig. It shows him touching his head then with no hair. I don't understand the meaning though.
Watching this is making me wish so badly for my youth. I'm getting towards 30 now, as I'm sure most of the people watching this are. The mid-90's was great times. The 21st century has been more or less torture. Let's get it back to what it was then.
Indeed. Yes, the 90's had it's share of douches, chumps, sleazes, etc. And that's just people. Yet the 90's had it's share of great times and people. But, I dunno, seems the minute that 1/1/2000 came along, everyone stopped caring. Doesn't it seem that way to you?
This was my favorite songs back in 1995 when I was 11 years old. It just struck a chord with me so profoundly. When I listen to it now it still brings out those same emotions that it did back then. Along with feelings of nostalgia on a time when I began growing up and started seeing the world differently. God, one of these days I'm gonna save all the youtube videos from all the songs from 1995-1998 that I remember loving like this and put them on a dvd as a chronological yearbook of my youth.
i saw this band in houston , 4 people in the whole bar, we talked to them all night, after this song became a hit they came to houston like 2 months, later, acted like we were complete strangers, my 8 year old son who loved this band was broken hearted the way they treated the only 4 fans in the whole place, so iam glad your working in a burger joint now, treat your fans better.
this song was never good and yet for years i couldn't stop singing it---and frankly still can't help but crank up whenever it randomly pops up on the radio (randomly)
I met God This Afternoon--Ridin On An Uptown Train I said Don't You Have Better Things To Do..He Said If I Do My Job What Would You Complain About...
This is the song "devil is in my pants" comment comes from. The next part is "It's shoot first, apologize later...a quick end to a short term romance. I got what I wanted and now I don't want anything....now my life is just boring." I am not saying I ascribe to this philosophy, I just thought it was a funny/provactive facebook posting. But... sometimes the Devil is in our pants making us want to do wicked things. And for that we should thank God.
This once again proves that the dominant music of this decade "urban-techno-pop" garbage, in which the loser of the moment, kanye, black eyed peas, riahnna, miley, etc, in which they sing about how much money they have and every third word is their name, is garbage.
Can't get this song out of my head lately -- so appropo for the times, too, eh? Kinda like Dylan's 'Everything Is Broken.' Looks like we're going through the 'going to shit' stage right now; looking forward to the renaissance/resurrection to follow?
One of my favorite lost gems from the 90's
