I'm a bit biased as a Spurs fan, but nobody is ever going to remember that incredible shot by Duncan right before Fisher's miracle. Such a tough shot, not to mention he was double-teamed, and was falling backwards as he threw it up. But I got to give Fisher credit, I don't know how that shot went in, but that was pretty ridiculous.
This was stupid. No way did he release that shot in time. I had the game recorded and it clearly shows that the ball was not out his hands in one slow mo angle but than you see another angle and it was different. Simple logic show that he would be able to do that. He caught the ball, turned around in the air, got the ball from the hip position to shooting above his head in .4??? That was a joke.
@pkbosslac obviously it isnt really .4 seconds thats jus not physically possible. Its the people in charge of the clock. They are the ones that control when to start it and they started it late. The clock starts as soon as someone touches the ball after the inbound. So its pretty hard to start the clock at that exact time so the people in charge of the clock just wing it. The rule is that they get the shot off before the clock hits 0.0 sec and thats all that matters. Tht was one hell of a shot
@TheBigAzzTree Well it is physically possible if it was a tip in but they way he did it, NO FUCKING WAY. Whoever was controlling the time is an idiot. Games like these are crucial and shouldn't be taken for granted. It's common sense but I understand the NBA will let shit like this slide just to get rating up and bring in the loot. As a player, I would have been pissed off. It was a lucky shot that should not have counted. Games should not be decided like this.
@TheBigAzzTree What's even more fishy, is that the Lakers have a reputation for winning games in which they played no part. Like the Kings series when the games were rigged by the refs. Im a LA native but I will admit that the Lakers have been extremely lucky in half of the championships that they have won. You can't say they were the best team in every championship they won.
@pkbosslac They don't use the clock to judge whether the ball was out in time, they use the light behind the scoreboard. Humans are not perfect. Considering the circumstances I think they did a hell of a job because in real time the shot looks good and the clock also looks like it went with the shot. What you are doing is splitting hairs. As for the Lakers not being the best team in all the years they won championships? Well that is just a silly statement.
@sftigers Who the hell said they use the clock for that haha? My point is that its common sense that a player would not be able to release a shot they way he did in that amount of time. The question is how do you know if they started the clock right when he touched the ball? It was obviously late. I mean look at the damn shot. Its not like it was a tip in. Look where he received the ball and his movement all together. Its stupid. Should not have been allowed. If that's what you call a hell of
@pkbosslac You are exactly right. For shots less then a second on the clock there should be no official horn. It should go to review and slow motion will shot if he got it off. I agree that was longer then .4 seconds.
@sftigers of a job, then I'm assuming you are biased. As for the Lakers being the best team in the league every time they won is also dumb. I saw every damn game from the time they won in 2000. The Blazers gave it away they had mostly vets and still took Lakers to game 7 without home court., The kings got robbed (Mafia/Refs) as well, If Horry doesn't hit that lucky 3, the series would have been 3-1, OVER. The lakers in 09 were not better than Boston but luckily for them Garnett was out for
@pkbosslac I saw every game also. As a matter of fact I was at some of those games. These are seven games series, 4 rounds worth. There's plenty of time to pick yourself up and make a difference. Other teams couldn't do it. The Lakers just happen to do so, over and over again. Loose balls are part of the game maybe if Horry wasn't there the Kings would have closed the Lakers out. The Lakers were responsible for that since it was Vlade who whacked the ball. I know you know what I'm referring to
@sftigers Yes I know exactly what you are referring to. Im sure you also remember that Stojakovic was out for most of that series, and he was a huge part of their team at that time. He was the reigning 3 point champ but got hurt. I just always felt that the Lakers always had much better talent than most teams, but not necessarily the best "TEAM". The Kings were an excellent team and they played their heart out, only to be denied by the stupid Refs. That's not fair at all. They deserved it.
@sftigers What about the Blazers? They came back from 3-1 to take it to a gm 7. They had a fucking 20 point lead in the 4th, but they went COLD!!! I mean literally FROZEN. I give credit to the Lakers for getting back but c'mon. They had home court, the crowd was craaazy and the Blazers couldn't hit a shot. But will you deny that the Blazers didn't out play them for most of the game? Shit, even the series. You could not say the Lakers were the better team. The Blazers just gave it away.
@pkbosslac That's just part of the game. Basketball is streaky. Blazers accomplished that today vs Dallas. It happens. Again, that's a seven game series we are talking about. Teams have to be able to close out games. A good example is this years Celtics-Knicks series. I thought the Knicks had a chance to beat them in the series. But when it comes to making plays a crunch time, they completely fold and Boston just takes advantage of them. Team defense is the unknown quantity.
@sftigers The only yr I remember the Lakers truly being the best was in 2001. The really demolished everyone, but even then, it was really pathetic to think of the competition compared to the. They played the NETS, PACERS and Sixers in that three-peat. For Gods sake, was that even a real FINAL? C'mon man. That real competition was in the west in those times. The last 2 have been the opposite. The best teams have been in the EAST and the Lakers have had the easy routes. Match-ups play a huge part
@sftigers out for the Season. They end up playing, Houston, Utah, and Orlando in the Finals? You kidding me? The only good solid team was Denver. The following Year they Play a very young Oklahoma Team that almost took them to 7, Utah, and Suns?? Are you serious? Who the hell had the Talent to compete against them, Man for Man? Nobody. You look at Boston, Who had to go through Orlando Without Home Court, Cavs Without Home Court and Lakers withou Home Court. Than Perkins gets hurt hahaha. Please.
@sftigers The Lakers have always had better Talent than most of the teams throughout the Playoffs but still struggled with the likes of the Blazers, Kings. Luck was on their side and Mafia. Only a couple of time did I say, "The Lakers were truly the best this year". Other years it was always some bullshit that got them over the top. If they win this yr, I will give them more credit knowing this route will be much tougher. Better balance in competition and talent. The Lakers have been extremely
@sftigers Lakers have never had great teams. THEY HAVE!, That's my point. They've always had the best Talent, not to mention highest Payroll but the West has never had teams that could match up man for man, talent wise. This year is different. I want to see how well they will do now. This time it wont be that easy route they had the past two yrs.
@pkbosslac It's never easy. I am a believer in matchups and experience of a team in a playoff atmosphere. I understand why the Grizzlies wanted to play the Spurs and you now see the results. They match up well. They also match up well with Oklahoma City. It's not that much of a stretch to believe that the Lakers will face Memphis in the conference finals. They just beat up on the Spurs and Thunder all year. I'm not predicting it. We'll just see how it shakes out. I think the Lakers lucked out.
@sftigers Exactly! The damn Grizzlies aint winning the championship but they can ruin it for many people. I would probably have to disagree with you on the match-up vs the Thunder. I think the Thunder can beat anyone in the West. I think the best teams are the Lakers and Thunder. Im expecting that WCF!
@pkbosslac Well, Memphis did beat the Thunder 4 out of 5 games this year. They're definately in their head. I can't rule that out. OKC will be a tough match up for the Lakers, but there's a possibility that it wont happen just because Memphis is the one team that can ruin it for OKC.
@sftigers extremely lucky and If you actually saw all the game like me, you can't deny that. The best teams don't always win the championships. Its also luck and matchups. That's not even counting the Mafia vs the Kings. Boston would have beat them if it was not for Perkins. Even with home court the Lakers struggled and got very lucky. Kobe had a horrible game. Boston was drained from all the top teams they played. You can check records if you want. They don't lie. Now I'm not saying the Lakers
@imback357 extremely lucky and If you actually saw all the game like me, you can't deny that.
I feel like this is a dumb question, but I don't watch basketball allot and I was under the impression after a shot was made they would take it in from the baseline. why di the lakers get to pass it in from near center court?
@VAhockeyfan in the nba if you call timeout right after a made basket you have the option to take it in at half court or on the far baseline. everyone chooses half court in late game situations after the timeout
No one ever gives any credit to Gary Payton for this play. 95% of the players in the NBA would have bounce passed the ball in. Ball hits the floor game, clock starts, game over. Payton deserves some credit for the in-bounds pass.
i just don't know how that adds up. these things are all wishy washy anyways. there's no sensor on derek's hands that tell them when to start the clock.
when i watched this other video on youtube the title was "most clutch shot ever" or sumthin like that. so i watched it and i was like damn how the hell did tim duncan make that shot and then i see fisher hit it with .4 left hahaha he is so damn clutch
the1sin. You need to learn your English grammar first. And then comment. Look, the Orlando Magic needed 1 of 4 freethrows they missed the last 1:30 seconds. Had they made just 1, It would been a series. But Lakers clearly wanted and won that game4 with their resiliency and experience. So please just believe that they deserve the redemption from the year before and deserve to be 2009 Champions. Just accept the fact.
Hahaha Hedo Turkoglu seems to have very bad luck against the Lakers. Remember the 2002 Western Finals he was at Sacramento when Horry made the clutch 3 in game 4. Then here he is again San Antonio with FIsher's 0.4, and then he is with the Magic when Fisher made those 2 clutch 3's in Game 4 of the 2009 NBA Finals...
@tidus1203 ya you know he has nightmares about losing those games to this day and most likely has to attend a sports therapist of some sort 5 days out of the week, just to keep himself going.
lakers are good but they dont deserve be 2009 champions. they got it cuz the magics screwed up in the finals compared to the eastern conference finals. even cavaliers had a better chance against the lakers cuz of how the magics screwed up
So you're basically saying it's unfair because the magic didn't play at their best. That's the way the game IS! Basketball has always been like that. Seeing as it's rare to not have the losing team fuck up at a crucial moment in a game, you are saying the EVERY NBA CHAMPIONSHIP isn't deserved because the other team just wasn't as good on the day. You could say that about any series.

JoshDunk that play doesn't even matter cuz the Pistons layed the biggest dump on the Lakers on the playoffs ever. Talk about choking under pressure. Hahaha!
Even if the clock started a few tenths late for DFish, what about the clock STOPPING a few tenths late after Duncan's shot? Looks like it went through the basket with 0.8 left.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
that was one of the biggest bullshit shots ive ever seen, talk about a hometown clock keeper! i watched that on my dvr in slow mo, this dude caught the ball, turned around and jumped before the clock started, i have heard time and time again from the likes of hubie brown, van gundy, etc that it takes at least .6 secs to get a shot off, anything less and you can only get a tip shot---btw is Duncan the best big man clutch shooter ever?
first off how can it be a hometown clockeeper for the lakers in san antonio?
second, all tv stations showed that shot countless times in x-mo and almost all broadcasters agree that it is nearly impossible to tell whether or not the ball has left fishers fingers in time
derrick fisher is like " that was the luckiest shot of my carrerr lets get the f*ck outa here before them refs ruin it.

oxsideswipexo 1 year ago
@VAhockeyfan in the nba if you call timeout right after a made basket you have the option to take it in at half court or on the far baseline. everyone chooses half court in late game situations after the timeout

damnnn...even though I don't like lakers, gotta respect Fisher for that one.

the NBA - where THAT happens lol

No one ever gives any credit to Gary Payton for this play. 95% of the players in the NBA would have bounce passed the ball in. Ball hits the floor game, clock starts, game over. Payton deserves some credit for the in-bounds pass.
jchcsean 1 year ago
@jchcsean no the clock only starts when someone touches the ball. but yes that was a really good pass.
guitareslavida 1 year ago
@jchcsean haha youre acting smart and yet you are wrong, the clock doesnt start till someone touches the ball dumbass

nice court vision by gary payton, he was looking for kobe the whole time but saw Derek fisher and throw a perfect pass for a turn around jumpshot.

Lakers have the 2 most clutch players who play better under pressure Fisher and Kobe FTW
fizwidget101 2 years ago

LakersDynasty42 2 years ago 5
lakers are good but they dont deserve be 2009 champions. they got it cuz the magics screwed up in the finals compared to the eastern conference finals. even cavaliers had a better chance against the lakers cuz of how the magics screwed up
the1sin 2 years ago
Just because certain NBA teams had key injuries that prevented them from contending for a championship doesn't mean the Lakers didn't deserve to win.
LakersDynasty42 2 years ago
actually they deserve it but i think magics shouldve got it but they screwed up in the finals they did mad good at the eastern confernce finals
the1sin 2 years ago
The Magic gave up in Game 5 and didn't play like they wanted to win the championship so that proved they aren't a mentally strong team.
LakersDynasty42 2 years ago
wtf they didnt give up ur an idiot who gives up
the1sin 2 years ago
Go back and look at that game. They stopped playing hard in the 2nd quarter and when they tried to comeback (in the 4th) it was too late.
LakersDynasty42 2 years ago
KK w/e they still wouldve lost i dont think anyone came back after being down that bad
the1sin 2 years ago
So you're basically saying it's unfair because the magic didn't play at their best. That's the way the game IS! Basketball has always been like that. Seeing as it's rare to not have the losing team fuck up at a crucial moment in a game, you are saying the EVERY NBA CHAMPIONSHIP isn't deserved because the other team just wasn't as good on the day. You could say that about any series.

People dont seem to remember that Kobe made a 15 foot jump shot just prior to this madness.
3 clutch shots in a row. Each increased in difficulty exponentially.
Awesome finish to what was a pretty ho-hum game until the forth.
machina21 3 years ago
first of all.. timmy being fluke by giving shaq a facial.. 2nd of all.. fisher plays volleyball to make one of the flukest shots in NBA history.. lol but like the commentator said.. "live it looked good" lol

Even if the clock started a few tenths late for DFish, what about the clock STOPPING a few tenths late after Duncan's shot? Looks like it went through the basket with 0.8 left.
All is fair.

that was one of the biggest bullshit shots ive ever seen, talk about a hometown clock keeper! i watched that on my dvr in slow mo, this dude caught the ball, turned around and jumped before the clock started, i have heard time and time again from the likes of hubie brown, van gundy, etc that it takes at least .6 secs to get a shot off, anything less and you can only get a tip shot---btw is Duncan the best big man clutch shooter ever?
meeksmen 3 years ago
ok you are seriously retarded
first off how can it be a hometown clockeeper for the lakers in san antonio?
second, all tv stations showed that shot countless times in x-mo and almost all broadcasters agree that it is nearly impossible to tell whether or not the ball has left fishers fingers in time
