@Richthofen100 Semi-automatic breeches were only in the AT guns and AA guns. Would be bad to have the hot shell casing fly out into the crew compartment of a tank :P
i just studied nazism in depth, thank you Stalin, thank you Roosevelt, Thank you Churchill, tahnks to every single resistance in europe for stopping this mad "men",
the only thing that was certain in the nazi regime was the racism, in economics and science they stood as in the 1900's, while in technique they were trully advanced, but its economic system was much like the one in the US today, and even worse
@pveg65 thanks to the "commies" you live ina free world u dumb fuck, if it wasnt for stalin and the rapid industrial development of the soviet union germany couldnt stand the fight in both fronts and lost, though the west front could only be fought after the russians started to fight the nazis, but NONE seems to remember that,
@pveg65 your lack of argument proves my point, get a book, and read it, but try that the book is more complex than the little red ridding hood, otherwise the elcture of it will be useless
holy shit that gun can fire fast, i have to give the Germans credit. they made some good shit ei " MG42" tiger tank" the V1 & 2, the 1st jet fighter the ME-262....not to menchion they were well on there way to having a nuculer bomb....... :O
You dont see much in the way of accuracy in any WWII movie, I have yet to see a movie where Artillery plays any role despite being the dominant weapon, I have yet to see proper allied and German doctrine represented.
@Litzen2k Hi , d.day in the breakout north of caen a box of 88s were missed in the massive aerial bombing and the allies tanks ran straight into them and aparently around three hundred tanks were lost ,I can see why by looking at the video,
You are thinking of operation Goodwood, total allied losses resulted over a series of days from different German unis on different points across the battlefield, not a single unit of 88s.
I'm going by the new book d day they carpet bombed the German lines but missed a box of flak guns and they wiped out a lot of tanks, there was a documentery on it I seen years ago as well, they sent the infantry in to destroy them, but hey I wasent there but aparently it was hushed up.
By new normandy book I assume you mean Anthony Beevers book or whatever the heck his name is. Beevor is something of a "pop" historians who really regurgitates old info.
There was a book awhile back that used in-battle aerial recon photos and argued the flak battery that supposedly took part in fact was never in the battle (no tracks in the wheat fields which should be present given the weight of the guns).
Regardless the 400 tank losses is attributed to the entire Goodwood operation.
Yep gonna check them books out,I read a book a few years ago about a tank oficer involved in the batles of d.day and he said that the Germans had a huge amount of flak but which was never mentoned in any books,an interesting subject,I think one of the best boks I read was the forgoten soldier Guy sajer wow what a read.
Nothing wrong with his book, Beevor introduced me to the eastern front with his Stalingrad and Berlin books years and years ago.
The issue is he tends to do little research himself, more he cites other historians. That means all their mistakes go into his book.
If you are serious about WWII studies, there are a number of more in depth books. For the British I would reccomend Collosal Cracks and Briitsh Armor in the Normandy Campaign 1944 if you want to understand their artillery based doctrine
i ever thought a rate of fire of 6-8 shells per minute were a good score with a flak 36, but that rpm is...unbelievable. after 2 minutes the loaders had to be damn fatique. i think that rpm could only been hold for max 20-30 shells, not really because the guncrew would be fatique, more because the mechanisms, like pp12021 said, would break and the barrel would overheat. also the chamber would be to hot, so the ammunition maybe explode but i dont really think so.
Why cant i gave that fireingspeed in my tank playing World of tanks?

@TigerIPanzer It was mostly used on eastern front, thus it should rather be called T34 reaper.
