This is amazing these guys have talent squirting out there ears! the amount of work needed for this song is incredible kudos major to Sigur Ros, Good Work!
This is fuckin amazing and I wish I could speak Icelandic so I knew what he was saying. But none the less this is trippy, beautiful, and they are awesome musicians...I feel so inferior, just owning an E-bow:[
This song this album is from was sung entirely in Icelandic, but the next one was in a made up language that the singer uses to get 'the feel of the song' called Hopelandic. The newest album has Icelandic and Hopelandic songs.
It literally translates as "Victory Rose." Sigurros (the 2 words together) is actually the name of their singer's sister - the band formed the same time she was born
I've been told most of the words they use in their songs aren't even real. I don't know for sure since I haven't translated them myself. All I know is their music is otherworldy, period.
I love these guys! Got the chance to meet them in person during April's Tokyo concerts (both days); they are the nicest down-to-earth band. Come back to Japan!
this is off of a'gaetis byrjun, right? i cant find the album anywhere, and its killing me. I have all of there others, but i just cant find their breakout one!
I love this band. They cant be compared with anything on this earth. Their concert at roskilde this year.. haven't got words.. Great video, anyone know where it's from?
Most of the Sigur Ros lyrics i've translated are about suicide and cutting. Which I didn't expect at all. If you want to see how his sexual preference influences him watch the Sigur Ros videos they're amazing.
I can't believe anyone would be so small-mided to comment on his sexuality, which is his business. The fact he is gay probably influences his music in a huge way anyway, i.e. sensitivity and an alternative perspective on life, being an outsider, allowing him to make music that most 'normal' people usually don't even 'get.' Heaven/hell, black/white, when will people learn and read up on things to have a proper understanding of the world!
ximono - a Fundamentalist 'Christian' can. Which is odd as I can't somehow see Christ casting Jonsi into hellfire just because he is gay! As a wife whose husband has chucked her on the scrapheap to go and shack up with another woman I do not believe that being gay rates very high on the list of 'sins'! Yet adultery is rife in the Fundamentalist church.
Jonsi IS gay...but for some odd reason I just don't care. Usually I'm not all about gay people because I do believe in christianity and I'm not gay myself. Just try to concentrate on the breathtaking music and you'll probably forget about it. I do.
Jimmy Page started playing with a bow with the Yardbirds in 1967 but never with this kind of intensity. Anbd I am willing to bet he could not sing and do it at the same time. My daughter just sent this to me. Thank you kiddo. Unreal.
I'm a fan of Led Zep, don't get me wrong. I thought Jimmy doing it was great, til I saw this. Jimmy Page couldn't get his guitar to sound anywhere NEAR as sweet as this with a bow. He used to batter the strings with it, and more often than not it was just noise. This is just beautiful.
Truly remarkable.

He's speaking 'hoplandic', which is a ficticious dialect. Think Tolkien's language in the Hobbit and Lord of the rings...
