Nothing compares to the original by Buffy Sainte-Marie, of course. If you haven't listened to it, do it.... one of the strongest performances by a rock musician... this was the 60's. Buffy Sainte-Marie was years ahead of her time... she's right up there with Tina Turner and Nina Simone.
i feel the same word for word i just want to scream ,help me please help me,i need relief from this pain is it all just some kind of twisted game,do not cry at my tombsstone......i never wanted to be the person you see can somebody help me????????cynthia....
The late Gram Parson's and Janis Joplin's individual interpretations of this song are the absolute best ones as far as I'm concerned! I think they're even better than the classic original by Buffy Sainte-Marie. Anyway, it's evident that Courtney tried her best on it so I'll give her some credit for that much at least, it isn't an easy song to cover after all, but in my opinion Courtney's version is just really lacking in comparison to the others. Her voice was virtually gone by this point :(
@WavyGravy22 Oooh.... LOVE Gram. He heh, in this clip at 0:40 it's from the swedish tv channel ZTV, and the CBS logo in the lower right corner indicates that's a Letterman-gig. Now.... Let's see.... 1998/99?
This song was chosen by Stevie Nicks for her 1st public performance. Of course the Dead, Steppenwolf et all's versiona don't touch Queen Buffy Sainte Marie's SHOCKING original.
"my baby you do reflect the sun,my baby you were always golden,oh how you do reflect the sun."
I wish that she find someone, where she can feels the same familiarness with kurt.she really deserves that.
its a wonderful video which describes that she is an amazing strong person..she is still here and i hope she attends me and all the people who really likes her a long time yet.
I typed in "I love codeine" in google and this is what came up. lmao

You'll forget youre a woman, you'll forget about men,
try it just once, and you'll try it again.
Youll forget about life, youll forget about time,
and you will live all your days as a slave to codine.
