@Ken1Yam in original script 1.Iscandal gave Gamilus technology as advanced planet (even Gamilus respects their civillization) 2.nonaggression treaty between the twin planet 3 Iscandar`s enviroment is much different from Gamilus (not good place for them to immigrate) 4.Iscandal is also aged "dying star" and 5 desler loves starsha 6 He is too proud to conquer her planet by militaly furthermore 7 Gamilus wanted new fronteer in Gaiaxy
Third bridge back already, most likely they have like three or for third bridges in storage room so they can replace it every time it gets destroyed :P
testing your determination??? one diying planet versus a empire with a lot of space ships and things like that...and we just have one ship...well you are no testing, you are waiting for miracles...but well the yamato make one very big =D
Selfless, sacrificial acts for the good of many runs in Starsha's family(or all heroes and heroines in Yamato); it's definitely her style. Starsha wasn't just practically smart, since this is just an anime.
It should spell "Sasha"; "Sarsia" does not exist traditionally. I heard Mr. Matsumoto was astonished to find a hairy man(probably Russian) having the name "Sasha"!! I think if one has the name "Alexsand-," they can be "Sasha," either male or female. It means "Defender of Mankind." Both Sasha(Starsha's sister and daughter) lived up their names. Beautiful women.
Restitutus, watch "Voltes 5" where the alien villains dressed like European nobility from 18 or 19th century. It's a very GOOD story.
i see the 3rd bridge was somehow fixed :x so is the reason why starsha didn't give them the schematics in the first place and made them go all the way to iscandar was to 'test their determination?'
Which meant: Eliminate Gamilus on the way. What help would the schematics have been if sent to Earth? Shultz would just have dropped a meteor bomb on the Purifier, and the same story would have started all over again.
Truely valuable stuff requires all from us though it's free; it's another precious life lesson from Yamato, man. Actually Starsha should have bombed Iscandar to stop the atrocities of Gamilus; she did it in "New Journey" to keep the peace in universe. Lots of holes in anime.
Starsha was the only one who had real effects on mighty Gamilus. If Iscandar disappears, Planet Gamilus would wander the space and it would be the crucial strike on Gamilus Empire, then the partisans everywhere(other planets) will be successful in defeating the evil occupier and get independence.
Starsha later bombed Iscandar solely on her own accord; it was a secret to Mamoru until the end. He'd NEVER allow such thing; he'd do it himself to save her and for the peace.
Pardon me? Gamilus still has a sun to orbit. If Starsha bombed Iscandar the debris ight wreck Gamilus' surface, but that is certainly not enough to push it out of its star system.
And where have been those partisans when Dessler decided to leave Gamilus and move to Earth?
how they fix the bottom bridge:P

Because Gamilus is near to Iscandar, my doubt is to say why Gamilus did not conquer Iscandar.
If Gamilus conquered Iscandar, it was not necessary to invade and attack distantly on the remote earth.

@Ken1Yam because desler loves starsha, as you find out in the new journey

@hiro009able Right. You don't harm your own sister. The similar thing. Germany did not invade German-speaking nations.

I found those reasons in related Yamato novels.

@T33K3SS3LCH3N Well, What's the use of the huge cargo size of the yamato if it cannot even reconstruct the third bridge?

Too bad the footage of the Yamato descending and landing in the ocean was cut out of Star Blazers.

Remember the nice facility that Sanada demonstrates in Ep02 to build toys with. It probably makes third bridges from scratch, too.

I meant Ep03. Sorry for that.

The only time Starsha showed any excitement - when she thought Sasha her younger sister had been in Yamato.
Hesuku 3 years ago
Is it Sasha at all? The subtitles read Sarsia to me.
Nice BTW that even Starsha notes Yuki's similarity.

The Yamato had to come to retrieve the parts because it was either:
1-beyond Earth tech to even manufacture the parts needed;
2-Earth lacked the natural resources necessary;
3-there wasn't enough manufacturing capacity left on earth after the war to do it;
4-it may have taken longer to build the machine from scratch on earth than the year it took to go and get it from Iscandar.
As for the third bridge, looks like they're just re-using Yamato cels to keep within the show's budget.

Bomb Iscandar to stop Gamilus??? What would that serve for?
That she did it later must have been Mamoru's influence; before, it just had not been her style.

You should watch "New Journey" to see the consequences of one of twin planets' explosion.
Partisans are in many planets under Gamilus rules; earthlings are only one of them. Gamilus was a huge empire.
