Hi there, we only ever take him out on a harness and lead as he's not clipped and so he could (would) fly off. We take him down to a field where he flies in circles. On occasions he's accidentally lands on a tree and refuses to come down. Macaw's are really stubborn! We got ours from a breeder in Wales. If you want their detail email me.
@John3versesixteen Train for FreeFlight recall. Looks like you half way there. My only concern here is that he snags that lead onto something and does damage. Follow Chris Biro (chrisbiro1) here on youtube and via libertywings website or freeflight yahoo group.
Hi, this video shows Rainbow's first ever flight. He now flies on a 100 metre elasticated flight line and so doesn't snag the line. See the other videos. Thx
That's fine - ur eclectus sounds lovely - I'm sure you'll be really happy with him. We went for our macaw because he snuggled up to us when we first saw him. That 'chemistry/ bond' is the important thing. U'll have to put him up on YouTube so we can see him. Have u seen the rest of our macaw videos? Just click on more from this user to see the other 3 videos.
yer if i had the money i would probably buy an macaw but this bird looked at me and we loved both of us and he snuggles in my jumper i go up to the private breeder every week to see it and how it is.
Great! Pleased u like Rainbow. We love him. We had also planned on getting an eclectus and went to view one when we saw the macaw and fell in love with him. He was so much more loving and just wanted to be with us.
@John3versesixteen that is great but just as long as your bond is great it ill be a while which is good so yeah well Alvin is now 1 year old he was hatched on 15th of march so yes it is great i am glad to hear that rainbow is exellent talk to you soon
I think you guys would have much more fun if you train a bit and teach recall training. Feel free to read my articles at FlyingMacaws nice video...

Hi, they get used to our cold temperatures. It gets really cold at night in homes so going outside in the day is no worse.
