  • Well, Buckley, this is it. I think you might be my soulmate. Great job. It would be great if you did more on grammar. Perhaps a lesson or two to our viewers? I have recently seen a lot of mix-ups with two, too, and to. Unacceptable. Keep making vids!!

  • @ADoseofBuckley hey man nice video Im so glad that I subscribed to this channel I am just wondering abut 2 things the first thing is what is the name of your radio show ? what radia channel it is on ? what time is it on ? oh and is it only exclusive to the usa ? ( wait I asked way more than 2 more things) oh and also in some of your other video's you swear and cures alot and make alot of dirty jokes ( I like that) was just wondering do they let you get away with that on your radio show ?

  • @mrmannoobs I work for a music service heard in family entertainment centers across North America, it's a private service with over 1000 subscribers. And no, they don't let me do this material, think of me sort of like Bob Saget (though I wouldn't dare compare myself in terms of talent)... he did America's Funniest Home Videos, a very family friendly gig, and also did his standup, which is some of the dirtiest stuff you've ever heard.

  • @ADoseofBuckley oh ok Im not from the usa so is bob saget the guy who was also on that show called full house and I heard some of his stand up and it is realy funny and dirty if it is the same guy than it must be pretty funny to watch him die abit inside when ever he has to make a cheesey family joke.

  • @mrmannoobs Yeah, he did Full House as well. I think he saw them both as opportunities to reach different audiences. For example, the family friendly stuff I do is estimated to be heard by anywhere from a quarter million people to half a million people every weekend, while as you can see by my stats on YouTube, my adult oriented stuff is seen by a couple hundred to few thousand people.

  • @ADoseofBuckley oh ok thats a good point your makeing oh and if you do decide to go along on makeing the podcast will you make it for family freindly or will you make it more adult oriented ? oh and aslo as a far bit of warning if you do decide to work with spill.com they are known for being very blue if you know what I mean they swear alot and there known for makeing alot of rude jokes but thats why people love them and there also very informitive. so there not realy for familys.

  • @mrmannoobs No, If I were to make a podcast, it would not be family friendly. I've always felt this is where radio in North America struggles... I'm not saying there should be swearing, but it could be at least as edgy as prime time network TV at certain times (the morning show for example and even some sort of late night content, I know TV dominates but who's to say the right radio programming COULDN'T draw viewers away?)

  • @ADoseofBuckley oh ok oh and I agree with you about the whole radio thing here in London people barly listen to radio mainly because most people get around in public transport.

  • Hilarious, love the writers who can't write gracefully.

  • ThAT was good but od u have any advice for someone who lives in the UK? I mean all the websites you used were american?

  • @15hann The same rules of presenting yourself apply, but I am not aware of any places to help you find a job in the UK. I just quickly Googled "radio jobs united kingdom" and came up with a site called "mediauk .com", might be a place to start.

  • Dude....that was hilarious! You and I think alike, my friend.

  • This Buckley guy is a colossal jerk. Rather than try to impress us with his insight, he sets out by bragging that he makes all kinds of money in radio. Guess what, pal? Nobody on youtube gives a damn what you make.

Judging by his inability to modulate his voice, his piercing and flawed intonation and his horrific accent, I'd guess the only time he's behind a radio microphone is to clean up the coffee cups left behind by people who have actual ability.

  • @osinski37 Thanks Osinski37, glad you enjoyed the video. I'll start working on my accent right away, my sincerest apologies as American is my second language, I'm only fluent in English.

  • As a 12 year veteran of many small town, one lung, am and fm stations, I must admit Buckley is bang on. of course, that's just my opinion. As for Columbia in Vancouver, from what numerous young friends (read graduates) have told me, they really do just take your money.

  • Not sure who you've been talking to, focusedeye, but Columbia Academy has many, many graduates on the air in small towns and major markets - Don Taylor, Squire Barnes, Brad Fay, Peter Schaad, to name a few. Maybe do your homework next time before spreading misinformation. Call up any station in Vancouver and you'll find Columbia grads.

  • I want a job in the radio industry, but I am still in college. Any suggestions? I have no prior experience in broadcasting.

  • @iHipHop I replied to your private message since there's a 500 character limit or whatever here, but the best advice I can give to someone with no experience or education in broadcasting, is volunteer at a commercial radio station, or a campus radio station, or both. Gain experience, make some contacts, and then slowly make your way into the station as a paid part time employee and go from there.

  • @ADoseofBuckley oh and also sorry about the spelling mistakes I am surverly dyslexic and plus I need to get a new key bored because this one spazzes out on me from time to time.

  • fuckin' hilarious!!!!!! LOL

  • This video should be shown in high schools when kids learn to put resumes together and apply for jobs. Short, entertaining, and informative! Great work.

  • Though the language used in high school these days is a LOT stronger than the language used in my video, I don't think I've ever had anyone suggest that I teach high school kids anything :-) Thanks!

  • Amazing how people can seriously think that such buffoonery can land them any position.

Great video. I will be sharing with my radio friends.

  • Thanks, much appreciated!

  • I just have to say your video makes sense. I like the use of the satirical egotism to make a point. Other comments are just pissed because they have realized how they have failed in the radio industry or their own industry and choose to blame you, because you pointed their failures out on a internet video seen around the world.

  • People do enjoy blaming others for their own shortcomings, that's for sure. I've always subscribed to the theory that everyone is completely responsible for their own life. Never blame others, only blame yourself.

  • ..Great video..right on the money..

The truth hurts..but for some people..needs to be heard..!

  • The truth can be a frightening thing... just watch American Idol! I suspect a lot of that is fake (those people HAVE to know they suck, right?) but there's a lot of people who've never had someone take a real objective look at their work and say "you're not good at what you do", and not because they were trying to tear them down... but because they actually cared about that person's development. Anyway, thanks for enjoying the video!

  • You make more money than the average radio person with the same experience, and that gives you the right to criticize? Oh, I have always thought actually knowing something about the business would be the reason. P.S. critiques carry more weight if you can through them with out having to curse.

  • It was more the "having a job in the industry" part that gives me the right. I could have also gone on and spoke about my experience doing hiring for my current company and my former company, and the fact that many of my English professors throughout college (one of them a university professor) praised my writing, and one of my essays was published in a text book on how to write essays... but I wanted to get on with making fun of morons!

  • this guy is one of the reasons I no longer listen to radio

  • You're welcome?

  • I love the video. I saw many of those postings on milkman unlimited not that long ago. I am still very amateur however I know my place. Now i will make an add on milkman just to have fun with it and see what happens by telling the honest blunt truth I would great on air in Iqaluit.

  • crap you tube does not have grammar check.

  • The radio biz? Are you kidding me? You call people out for being full of themselves right after you let everyone know how great your bowling radio bullshit gig is? You really didn't think this one through did you? It's fucktards like you who make me question, on a daily basis, why I'm trying so hard to get into this industry. And just for the record, your voice makes me cringe. Do you represent the Lollipop Guild?

  • Why are you trying so hard? Your narration at the beginning of your Dayglow Abortions interview... not sure why people aren't busting down your door right now to hire you!

Yeah sorry about the sound of my voice, I often get called out for how high it is. I'll do you a favour chief, I'll start processing it so it's deeper, just as long as you work on the overall nasally sound of yours. Deal?

  • Dayglo not Dayglow. I know how much you hate spelling mistakes. Thank you for calling me "chief" in that rant. It makes me feel even better about making fun of you.

I just want to point out that my video was my first major assignment at school and I never claimed it was great. That would be the reason I am in school. How long have you been in the industry for? How long does it take to become a self important prick of your caliber?

  • I've been a paid, professional announcer, reaching over 200,000 listeners a week (and growing) for a pay-to-use service for over 2 years now, but it took me my whole life to become a self important prick. I've also performed HR duties (accepting resumes and hiring employees) for both my former and current jobs. The typo on the name of a band that is of little importance to radio audiences who only care about popular music doesn't concern me all that much actually.

  • Xcelent wurk thare Buckley.

Yoov hit it rite on thu hed.....a simplee wunderful discrpshun of how sum aplicunts right theyr resumayz, and reflex theyr genrul slovunlee aproach 2 pursonul dove element.

Really well done mate. As a former station owner, I got a genuine belly-laugh from your production, and would have hired you in an instant for HR duties!

  • I don't know that anyone that would write like that would know the word "slovenly" or it's use in a sentence, but that's some well put-together bad writing!

    Glad you enjoyed the video!

  • Fantastic! Everybody applying for a job should watch this.

  • Wow berrydaquirie, you've favored some real cool vids on your profile. Obviously, you are a far more reputable resource in all things radio. Fuckin' flamer.

  • That's weird. I was the first to post a comment (a positive one) and it's since been removed. Maybe my grammar was incorrect. Still think it's a great vid!

  • Hmm, my initial reply didn't post? Anyway... yeah baldboy, sorry about that. I had to delete the original video, which contained your comment (a correction on one of the frames was needed and brought to my attention by Milky). YouTube doesn't let you just re-upload a video.

  • good stuff.

  • Hey Adam - why so angry? you`re not funny, nor clever and your sarcasm comes across in a weak manner. Any mistakes yet? i`m actually bored...oh - i`m also certain i make a ton more money than you do...and i work in the same industry as you do - radio ;-) Let it go...but can you?...

  • Your profile shows that you're 42... I hope you make more money than me in this business, if you've been in it that much longer! Bored? Shouldn't you be looking after your grandkids or something? And since you asked: you didn't capitalize "I'm" (twice) or "I" (also twice), that last sentence fragment has some pretty piss poor grammar, and you're goin a little heavy on the ellipses (the "..."). But hey, thanks for adding one to the view count!

  • @ADoseofBuckley

yep ... still angry and so "un-funny"...

  • That's ok, you're just not in my demographic.

  • Man, this is an excellent video. It's basic information that nobody seems to care about anymore. I don't know Buckley, but I'd sure like to meet him. Good work.

  • So were you employee #1, 2 or 3?

  • Zing! I have a good job in radio. The top market too... I wouldn't publicly bash Milky. I don't know him but he provides a pretty unique website to Canadian broadcasters. If you don't like it perhaps you shouldn't frequent the website. Obviously whatever you did to get a job in radio didn't work. MMU is providing an outlet to connect radio industry people together. To quote the great Conan O'Brien "Cynicism will get you no where". Be humble you have a job dude in this economy..

    Good Day!

  • "Cynicism will get you no where" - A recently unemployed man. I mean, just sayin'.

  • I didn't publicly bash Milky, I publicly bashed three people who gave perfect examples of how to throw away an opportunity. I'm betting PDs that saw those posts originally have already made similar comments (and judging by some of the private emails I've got about this video, I'm right). Milky was such a fan of the video that he posted it on his website, something he definitely didn't have to do.

  • @ADoseofBuckley The point is who cares? Why should you? A total waste of time...

  • The people I mention in general should care. People attempting to get a job in this industry or ANY industry should care. If you have a job and think you're king shit because you're in "the top market" (but you don't say who you are), and you're able to already get a job because you were at one time able to present yourself in a professional manner... great, then the video isn't for you. As funny as this is to some (not everyone, and that's ok), it's meant to be helpful.

  • That all said, the fact that I "wasted" the time of someone so high up in the broadcast industry, well... that just makes me smile, perhaps even more than all the praise I've gotten so far in private e-mails.
