  • Stop filming Tombs you stalkers.

  • @AbleFoxCompany shut the hell up man this is important

  • God Bless America

  • All of you, stop your harping. This video is about something a bit different.

  • Oh my...former Sentinel here. This took my breath away. It brought back all the joy, the fun, the unequalled and unrepeatable abject wonder of 1000 walks, 800 changes, and 400 wreathes. The solitide was uncorruptable bliss. Endless 21s, that brass ring of uattainable perfection that we simply will not stop reaching for... ...the quiet as we speak to our brothers. Line 6...for them, forever.

  • Could you get a video while they do this at night???

  • Ummm anyone in America can salute the flag its just that in the military they tend to love the country and it's people more than the average person

  • feb, 25 is my bday im 14

  • only complete assholes with no self respect and respect for what these men are doing would dislike this video

  • Good for him, too damn cold. I hate watch.

  • IT IS REQUESTED THAT SNOW SHOULD STAY OFF THE PLATFORM AT ALL TIMES!!!

  • evrybody take a moment and watch this video, and realize that what is being done is being done every minute of everyday, whether somebody is watching or not. and everything is done with as much precision as the last.

  • That guard should put on skate shoes.

  • I advise everyone to see this in person, its really awesome and humbling

  • I thought this was cool until I saw "God" on the tomb.

When will people wake up and forget imaginary friends?

  • @mossgiant2

When assholes mind their own business.

  • @mossgiant2 someday we will move on and grow up. we can only hope

  • @mossgiant2 let us not forget that in the U.S. Constitution it does say in God we trust

  • @psychoticguy2010 Where? Please give a direct quote.

  • @psychoticguy2010 Or perhaps I should say give a direct, exact citation of which section and line it's in. Same with the Declaration of Independence. I am an American and a Christian, but I am going to tell you that "In God We Trust" is not in either document. Go look it up and bring back an exact line and article, etc, where that is, if you do not believe me.

  • @mossgiant2 I'm an athiest and I find you too be a disgusting piece of shit.

  • @mossgiant2 wow.

  • @mossgiant2 deal with it.

  • I would like to say God Bless this mans SOUL and for all the brave who have given us the wright to say so R.I.P. Grandpa I LOVE YOU SO MUCH

  • THANK YOU!!!

  • so there's someone there 24/7?

  • @xxElementOnexx 24/7/365 they never leave. They still stood guard even when the hurricane went through there. The guards take their jobs very seriously and live the warrior ethos to the letter "I will always place the mission first. I will never accept defeat. I will never quit. I will never leave a fallen comrade."

  • @sgtjpmartin oh wow, I didn't know that. thanks :)

  • @xxElementOnexx Always. Never is there not.

  • @xxElementOnexx yes. even in blizzards. they were allowed to stop for a hurricane but declined and went on with it. If you ever make it to DC check it out. It's powerful, really an honor to witness

  • @xxElementOnexx Yes, and has been for many decades.

  • NEVER FORGET those who gave all. We HONOR you.

  • RESPECT .

  • 240p we meet agian

  • I respect them for their dedication to duty....

  • Their sidearms are loaded. Just not the rifles.

  • @halflife103 US Military recognizes all foreign allies and you are allowed to salute. Enlisted military members and officers are suppose to salute all foreign allied officers. of higher rank. just as allied officers salute US officers of higher rank.

  • The soldier walks 21 steps across the Tomb. His weapon is always on the shoulder opposite the Tomb (i.e., on the side of the gallery watching the ritual).

On the 21st step, the soldier turns and faces the Tomb for 21 seconds.

The soldier then turns to face the other way across the Tomb and changes his weapon to the outside shoulder.

After 21 seconds, the first step is repeated.

  • I will never stop saluting this Tomb, even as a current civilian. You men have the highest amount of respect and silence I can give.

  • @KillgoreES88 Your arm will get tired.

I'm just kidding, Regardless of who you are, what country you come from. I believe that the USA shows a lot of respect to this tomb which is always admirable.

I myself, would salute. However I am unsure of the current regulations of Saluting in America as I am a Canadian Reservist.

Regardless, they would receive my respect.

  • @halflife103 - It is my understanding that while salutes are not deemed necessary, they are respected. I personally would encourage you to salute, as I myself would on any hallowed ground, be they in the United States, Canada, or abroad. A reverent salute is the finest tribute one can render to one's brethren-in-arms.

  • @halflife103

You have my respect.... just for saying that.

    :)

  • @Burnsengine Thank you.

  • @halflife103 the regulations don't require you to salute our way...you can salute how ever you were taught

  • @halflife103 the US salutes it's allies officers anthems and flags, so it would make sense for her allies to be able to solute a memorial to our fallen.

  • @halflife103 knowing that you are serving your country and still rendering a salute to show your respect at the tomb would be well recieved.

  • @halflife103

In the US, a few years ago a law was passed in which veterans can salute the flag. As a sign of honor and respect, I think that no one in the military would gave you any grief, were allies right

  • @halflife103 As an American veteran, I believe no one would care if you were in your Canadian blues (forgive me, I don't know what you call your dress uniform in Canada) at the Tomb and saluted. In fact, you'd be very respected for it by the onlookers for it

  • @halflife103 you are a comrade in arms, u could salute in or out of uniform if u see fit to do so

  • @halflife103 Currently, the rules are being changed. US Veterans may salute in civilian clothing now. I'm not sure about foreign forces. But I'm sure if you salute while in uniform, it will be respected and returned in kind.

  • @halflife103 well as far as I know that Americans Can NOT salute the Flag unless Your Are a Veteran or Active Duty. So who knows what the laws are on saluting.

  • @SuffixezHD I have not ever heard of that...

  • @halflife103 i will send you a msg on your account of where i found it/ the law

  • @SuffixezHD ...ROTC not active duty, required to salute when outside.was in it for 4 years in highschool.

  • @halflife103 It was frowned upon for someone that's not a vet or a active duty member to salute until June 8 2008

  • @halflife103 Any member of a NATO nation's military is regulated to Salute any other member, tomb, flag of any other NATO nation's flags and emblems. I'm from the US and I respect your respect to our troops, and may you troops live a full and successful life. -Soon to be a US Navy Midshipmen

  • @inailboards Soon to be?.

    Congratulations.

  • @inailboards bullshit. You are not required to salute ANY other flag other than your own. You are however required to salute ANY officer regardless of country (whether in NATO or not)

  • @ninjafatballz I never said required, I said regulated, Go and read the founding documents of the NATO Agreement. The thing about the officer is false, you are only to salute officers of your own nation unless you are put under command of another nation, in which you then salute other officers... go get an education, I'm getting paid to go to collage because the USN wants me as an officer.

  • @inailboards Look Im just telling you what was screamed into my ear when I was in the army.. When I was in Korea we saluted EVERY officer no matter what. They specifically told us to do this in basic training. I could give a shit less if the fucking navy wants to commission you.

  • @halflife103 I served active duty in the US Army Infantry.

I think a salute, regardless of nationality, would be appropriate.

From a Yank soldier to a Canuck soldier,

    Thanks for Serving!

  • i HEARD THEY DO GET TO LISTEN TO iPODS.

  • These soldiers have the greatest respect for those who have fallen defending our country. Why cant everyone respect veterens this much? These men have my respect

  • @timeisupUS If you can't stand behind our great soldiers, AKA Heroes, why don't stand infront of them, preferably with a target painted on your head

  • He must be cold...I hope he went and got a lot of hot chocolate later.

  • @timeisupUS

You only say that cuz you thank our Lord God for the sacrifice our fallen HEROES gave to america rite?

  • @jgpbigred I thank our troops, but not your god. Our troops are part of the military, which is run by the US government, and is required by the law and the constitution not to favor any religion over another.

  • White letters...light background. Not a good choice.

  • Duncan7599, what is that you believe in? What is it that drives your convictions? The test of character is to not only believe, but be convinced in something bigger than what you can feel, see, or hear yourself. Your life seems to be missing something. Why? Are you a victim of unfortunate circumstance or are you purposely ignorant? If the former, you have my condolences. If the latter, you have an invitation to right this wrong. I know many willing to help you overcome this disability.

  • @Gladius3rd beautifully put.

  • @duncan7599 fail troll is fail

  • salute to the guard

  • What is the tomb of the unknown soldier?

  • @ghosthunter5656 Its where an unidentified soldier from every major Us conflict (starting at WWI I believe) is buried. Its meant to honor all American servicemen who were lost and their remains never found or identified. In a nutshell. Then again, I might be horribly wrong.

  • @Wildcat425B you are correct, but the vietnam soldier was identified through DNA and the remains were returned to their family, his tomb remains empty now, representing all the unidentified and missing soldiers who died in vietnam.

  • Avoid the Bullshit...

    video actually starts at 1:25

  • @WatchMeShred Shut the fuck up you 'edgy' teenager

  • @WatchMeShred You are the epitome of worthless shit.

  • @WatchMeShred At it's finest? Hardly.

  • I'd Like To Line Up The Three People Who "Disliked" This Video... And Give Them All A Swift Kick In The Nuts (And/Or) Vagina's... You Make Me Sick, And I Hope No One Honors The Sanctity Of Your Graves...

  • Actually the weapons most certainly are loaded and I know American's are stupid and disrespectful of just about everything that involves God and country but they can act against someone who violates the tomb as they should but American's believe that because they have "freedom" they can do what they want to without any ramifications because they can sue or someone will get in trouble. I think they need to take out a few stupid tourists and restore the respect that is lost by American's

  • There is nothing else quite like the tomb of the unknown soldiers. It is not an ordinary monument. The steadfast vigilance and honor of the sentinels represents an almost intangible, ethereal standard of respect which I believe dignifies us as a nation and a people. We will never forget those who gave their lives AND their identities in the service of their country.

More than a military ceremony, it is a human ceremony. That is why I admire its reverent understatement.

  • The true definition of a Hero is one who gives all for those who will never even know he or she existed... We must honor those we do know all the more in order to make up for the people whose sacrifices were never recorded or brought to light.

  • *salutes*

  • Int he credits, it has "taps" as credited to Midi file... Thats not a person, thats a file type. The tune was written by General Butterfield durring the American civil war.

  • Disciple. We should be thankful for the Old Gaurd

  • Just to be clear for those who are unaware, the large white sarcophagus is a solid block. The 3 crypts of those unidentified are under the white marble slabs between the guards post mat and the sarcophagus.

  • amazing pure dedication

  • The Guard of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Badge is the only badge in the military that can be revoked. It also is the rarest badge in the military. (only 567 total awards). It, also is the only badge that can travel with you if you re-enlist in another branch. Also, the guards are authorized to drink off duty, but are held to very high standard while doing so.

  • @dillyuber sorry but any and all badges, medals, and citations can be revoked. The Tomb badge is the second raarest, the Army Astronaut is the rarest.

  • To ease the current argument. I'm in the Army. I observed the changing of guards 3 days ago and got a chance to speak with the NCOIC of the relief there. (they wear a red polo and black pants, Civilian-esque). The guards carry M14's and the inspector that comes and and briefs everyone on the change carries an M9. None of the weapons are loaded. The only force they are allowed to use is a push or shove. They have specific SOP's for that. There are MP's standing by waiting for idiots.

  • they are called Tomb GUARDS! so they are guarding it.

  • @QueenofDiamonds1391 mostly from guys trying to cross the rope but it's really all about respect for the soldier

  • @zellarsDD777 i know. people on here are arguing about them just walking up and down or being guards. i personally think that they r guards because Tombs of Unknown Soldiers are some pretty big monuments. they are all over the world. so someone could try to damage, steal part of it, or vandalize it. so i think the guard's job is to of course guard and watch over the tomb.

  • if you won't respect our soldiers enough to stand behind them feel free to stand in from of them, preferably with a bullseye on your forehead

  • Nice tribute. I think of the guards everytime it is record cold, snow or bad weather. You can bet they didn't leave their post during the tropical storm Irene.

  • This is America....We have deep conviction. PLEASE admire and respect it.

  • @Bradjet63 i am salvadorian and i respect america...be proud of this country...

  • @perry2172 thank you sir

  • @perry2172 With the way thing have been going for the past 3 or 4 years, I thank you on behalf of the United States Of America

  • @perry2172 I have respect for America and its people, what I don't have respect for are the politicians who runs its government and are sending its young men into battles to fight their own war.

  • guys! i remember guard duty in north yorkshire, england in the 60s, they gave us long johns, and i said i will never wear them. i wore them that winter, and was glad of them. god bless lads and laddies. from an old scots soldier.

  • I am a former Marine, this brings me to tears. I have no words but I bow my head in prayer and thank my Creator for creating men such as these...you have my RESPECT and Silence...

  • @EVD771

When i went to Arlington in my school trip last year.

The people i hate with a passion that are in my grade were talking the whole time. I was just wanting them to get ripped or something.

The whole time we walked around Arlington they were just talking. I just wanted to punch them so bad. I hate the disrespectful idiots. But anyways they talked the whole time. But they at least stood at the changing of the guards.

Thank you for serving in the USMC Sir.

  • @EVD771 Once a Marine, always a Marine. Semper Fi devil.

  • @EVD771 Once a Marine, always a Marine. Semper Fi devil.

  • @EVD771 no such thing as former. thank you for your service. i hope to join the marines in about 8 months when i am old enough to join poole

  • @freedomfighter13103 don't do it.

  • @EVD771 There is no such thing as a former Marine. 3rd Marines Combat Assault Company, PFC Zachary Scott Compton. Semper Fidelis.

  • @EVD771 im joining the marines, im going to basic in july, i feel the pain for our fallen soldiers

  • @EVD771 lol "creator" lol

  • @EVD771 Why not thank the men themselves, since they are the ones sacrificing and devoting their time and effort, not your creator. You most likely don't even share a same creator with them. These men became the rock solid individuals they are today through their own dedication and resolve, show THEM a little respect.

  • @EVD771 you lost me at "and thank my creator"

  • You sound like a thoughtful, intelligent chap. A man believes in our Creator, and that "loses" you.

Would you prefer he be a mouth breathing OWS type America hater, but athiest? Then you could follow him? You are surely a product of public education.

  • @jmt1271 I don't think there is a 'god'. To me it sounds like you havn't grown up enough to stop believing in fairy tales.

  • @urchin34 God hates america

  • @timeisupUS Try harder troll.

  • @EVD771 gay homos, get no respect from me ,

  • Young members of the society will not appreciate the heroic deeds of people from the past.

They will not appreciate memorial's such as the Tomb of the Unknowns.

They will appreciate mostly modern music artists, and members of the society which are "cool" such as: Drug dealers, thieves, gangsters, ETC.

There will be exceptions whom choose to benefit the society by any means including becoming a martyr.

    Those people are called hero's.

If you can't be a hero then at least respect what is around you

  • It's Arlington Virginia not Washington dc

  • Thank you!!

  • These guys, though watching over a cemetery, are still in the US Army. If you think they're not guarding it, try getting onto that walk without being taken down.

  • Getting the job done. Awesome!!

  • Fantastic

  • These guys rock!!!

  • Ahh yes thank you I did not know my bad no need for insults.

  • @Pearlharbor350 No, Washington DC.

  • Is this in Arlington Texas?

  • @Pearlharbor350 are you stupid? no its washington

  • @Pearlharbor350 You're thinkin' of the Arlington National Cemetery.

  • Hate the war, not the warriors.

Lest we forget, our glorious dead.

  • Guard mounting ceremonies around the world:

UK's guard mounting is for the sake of tourists.

(Of course it is too harsh. A symbol of glorious tradition, I would say.)

China's guard mounting is for the sake of not-so-great great dictators.

India's changing of the guards is a big show to enemies.

Arlington's changing of the guards is for the sake of those who gave their lives to the country. That's why they are performed at such a high standard, rain or shine or snow.

  • they look realy gay. the guards at buckingham palace are much better!

  • @GaryGib96 - you're a douche bag. The Buckingham Palace guards look like the troops from the wicked witches palace in the Wizard of Oz.

  • @sh0d4n tu puta madre !

  • @GaryGib96 I`m sure you and your boyfriend had long talks about that.

  • i like to see those crazy funeral crashing people get loud here and see what happens to them

  • @fhattest I'm with you, I would love to see their butts kicked, I'm from Kansas and I so wish the state would just kick them out

  • true weapons arent loaded but these soldiers are still highly trained and cn take u down in a moments notice

  • I wish to become a Sentinel, but I still need to gain some height first.

  • @evilzpowers....if you think they are not "guarding" the tomb, try stepping over the chain or disrespecting the tomb in any way, their weapons are loaded, the bayonets fixed and ready....they are not referred to as the Honor Guard for nothing....the job of Tomb Guard is one of the most coveted and respected positions in military service.

  • @werbird1 correction. They are NOT loaded, however they DO have their bayonets fixated.

  • @werbird1 guns aren't loaded.

  • very american u stealing this vid and uploading with ur inane preface

  • why is he guarding the dead people for??

  • @imprezatuner cause its the three unknown soldiers and there soldiers

  • @imprezatuner Its not just dead people, its heroes who died for us. Because we don't know who is in the tomb, its basically saying to those who have lost loved ones, whose bodies were never recovered, "Just because we couldn't find him, doesn't mean we don't respect him." The men in this tomb may be someone's ancestors, grandfathers, brothers, sons, fathers, or husbands, now they're not forgotten. Now every person who visits pays respect to every soldier who died but was never identified.

  • @bunnster16 Maybe the person in the tomb is George Washington.

  • @imprezatuner not as much as guarding but more watching over it. it shows honor and respect.

  • @theoxtheory It was said that the tombs of the unkown have no family so therefore The Third Guard consider them their family. The remains in the tombs are also the recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor.

  • I stand at attention and salute my fallen comrades. Rest in peace, brothers in arms, rest in peace. Your glory will forever be guarded.

  • Thank you to all the vetrans who served for there country.

  • Americans protecting other Americans. Standing guard over an unknown. Rare in this country today.

  • I was always in awe of the Honor Guard. These guys stand at attention 24-7 365 days a year. Their is someone their at guard when its 3.00 am and 20 below zero in the middle of January. All alone in the middle of the night with no one around they still guard and patrol the Tomb. Their has been a guard on duty every single minute since July 1st 1937.

I am amazed and proud that we carry on this tradition. To be able to say you guarded the Tomb is such an honor.
