  • ¿Song? Please...

  • @Alexellemedit yea i wanted to no the name of the song too

  • The music is epically beautiful.

I like this movie, but I'm more exited about the remake. I like the comedic take this version had,but I'd love to see a seriously scary version of this movie. Hoping the best for the 2013 remake of the film.

  • the ambiance of the sets, music, costumes, and the effects i love! the storyline is EH and execution in my opinion yuck

  • This opening, as a stand-alone short film, is awesome. Throw out the rest!

  • I love the opening, the sets, costumes and music. Everything else sucked, the story, Eddie Murphy, Leota, servants, etc

  • I really like this movie and its soundtrack. I often watch it because it reminds me the ride. Besides in France the Phantom Manor's story is different but I prefer this version.

  • This part is so scary.

  • i DO NOT GET THE 13 @ 2:13 THERE ARE ONLY 12 NUMBERS ON A CLOCK WTF?

  • @disneygenius That's the whole reason there's a 13. People think 13 is an unlucky number (Friday the 13th) plus a clock chiming 13 is supposed to be like a bad sign. Plus it's after midnight so it's something like the bewitching hour. It's just supposed to add more creepiness and mystery into the beginning of the film. And why did you type in all caps?

  • @Acqua1313 does me typing in all caps bother you?

  • @disneygenius No it's just annoying and unnecessary. ;)

  • @Acqua1313 DF? WHY DO YOU GIVE A SHIT? IT'S MY LAPTOP, FUCK OFF.

  • @disneygenius You could learn how spell too. ;D

  • @Acqua1313 GET A LIFE, POSER.

  • I love the intro and premise for this movie. I just didn't like that it was geared to be a comedy instead of scary or a drama. I'm just happy they are making another one. :)

  • @Acqua1313 Really?!?!?! :O !!

  • @A4Guerrero Yep. It was announced last year and it's in the production stages right now. They haven't set an official date yet but it's supposed to be more scary like the similar feeling you get in the actual attraction. It's being directed by Guillermo del Toro. There are a few articles and pieces of artwork you can see if you do a google search.

  • @Acqua1313 OMG Guillermo del Toro!! Can't Wait! thanks for the info! :)

  • The movie could have been a lot better. It's such a shame. It had such potential, with a great score and great imagery, but the writing was flawed.

  • what is the song at 1:00 called?

  • I don't really care what anyone else says-I've always loved the Haunted Mansion, ever since I first rode it as a kid (I was terrified at first, though). This movie really captured the feel of the ride, and that's all that really matters to me-as long as they get the atmosphere and the Ghost Host down, I'm happy. Nathaniel Parker was /perfect/ as Master Gracey, whether or not he's the actual GH. I think Disney leaves it up to the riders to decide for themselves who is who in HM lore.

  • I love Nathaniel Parker in this! He is kinda sexy!

  • ManorRecluse- I agree. This is the only part I've liked of the movie mainly because of the amazing music.

  • 1:14 ok does anyone know where the hell i can get that music box? Or even someting similar to it? I've been looking for it ever since this bloody movie came out!

  • @TherealRNO actually the ghost host isn't master gracy. The name gracy is a tribute to disney Imagineer Yale Gracy who i believe created most of the effects for the haunted mansion.

  • Even thou the movie wasn't all what everyone expected , in such " scary " , i liked the movie because in my view the movie was enchanthing and and some what lovely vitorian . Aslo even thou alot of people think that eddie murrphy ruined the movie , put your self in his shoe's for once and think about how he would of reacted . other wise what your saying is a waste of time . How about keeping it to your self for once ! :D

  • how did he hang himself all the way up there?

  • @knickel9820 maybe in the future you or me can build such an building

  • i liked the movie, fuck you haters

  • @alvin4325: Ummm...DUH. Even the ride has him be it. He commits hanged suicide due to the death of his Bleeding Heart Bride (called Emily in the ride, but Elizabeth in the movie). Constance, however, is based on the wife of Yancey, the Hatbox Ghost, who is rumored to be George in the Hanging Portrait room. Speaking of, it is said that George is the father of our Ghost Host, making Constance Emily's mother-in-law to be, IF Connie and Emily BOTH didn't...you know...DIE.

  • Now that I think about it, it sounds like Romeo & Juliet haunting the mansion to look for each other.

  • i agree, sadly, that this was the only good part of the movie.

  • What's the music in the beginning called?!

  • @BrightSightedRue The overture of the haunted mansion I think.

  • @alvin4325 no he isn't , in the movie yes, but the ride no, you don't see him in the ride at all, all you'll see of him is a portrait that's it, the ghost host is the called the Hatchet man sometimes, don't get any ideas

  • @MrDisneyguy: NO. The Ghost Host IS Master Gracey. He HUNG himself in the ride ("of course, there's always MY way"), remember?

  • I don't care what everybody else thinks- I really like this movie. Sure they took something creepy and tried to make it a comedy, but you know, I like it better that way. To be honest, I wouldn't have watched it if Eddie Murphy wasn't in it.

Besides, they didn't completely strip it of its creepiness.

That out of the way, the beginning is the best part!

  • I actually like the movies, minus the annoying Murphy parts before they get to the mansion!

  • u know when the guy hang him self that what u see at the start of the ride

  • One of my Favorite horror/Comedies!!!

  • 2:46 Oh, right! that's where it comes from! Quite clever actually

  • I hope Guillermo keeps the man who acted for Edward Gracey in the 2003 film. I thought he suited the part and I don't think they played him up nearly enough.

  • @fallonhadley , do you mean nathaniel parker?

  • Can't wait for Guillermo's.

  • i love the last part with the execution of the hangman, the scream, and the theme in organ style. so epic!

  • i love the last part with the organ doing the theme. so epic and dark!!!

  • ah!

  • can anyone tell me why this movie was pg?

  • I get chills when that lady screams, not at the sight of the hanged body.

  • I would sit through the whole stupid movie just to hear this song one time.

  • Disney completely ruined the concept! E. Murphy was completely wrong for this show! No wonder it flopped! It was shit!

  • itwasnt that bad

  • This Song Reminds Me Of Murder and also Death... Awsome. x

  • I love the Victorian era... And creepy stuff.

  • @Relesy im moldeling my house like that

  • @TheDISNEY365 Lol yeah. Moldeling? O.o

  • @Relesy not alone on that one:)

  • @Relesy It's not Victorian it's enlightenment, Georgian time 1714-1836 l

  • @dazzledpixie The scream? Have you ever been on the Haunted Mansion ride before? In the elevator during its descent, there's a part in toward the end where you can see the guy hanging and after that it goes dark and then you hear the scream.

  • I WANT THIS SONG! It's pretty. :)

  • I love this haunting melody and I love this movie!

  • what is the name of this song?!?! i can't find it anywhere!!!!!

  • @BattlestarNovatia "The Haunted Mansion Overture" from "The Haunted Mansion Haunted Hits"

  • i wish this was HQ :(

  • the music in this scene is so awesome this is the only part mostly likely that describes the feelng of the actual ride

  • It was announced that they were remaking 'The Haunted Mansion' and that Guillermo Del Toro would be producing and possibly directing. They want to change it from a comedy to a possible PG-13 Horror. Yay, I'm happy :)

  • @ManorRecluse - Re: your main video comment - You're so right! :)

  • I love this movie no matter what anyone says, and the set is outsanding!!! The first three minutes are visually beautiful! I wish that there would have been more scenes like the intro throughout the movie and I wanted more interaction between Elizabeth and and Mr. Gracey and to have seen their love story acted out.

  • @73felice Exactly! That's what I thought whenever I saw this movie. After all, the whole point is about Elizabeth and Gracey. Duh.

  • @73felice yeah! they almost should have made a second movie to based on how they met, their love life, complications they had and her murder obviously, that would have been SO cool

  • I hope the new one will be set in Victorian times like this throughout the entire movie. The opening credits here are gorgeous -- if only the whole movie was made with this setting as opposed to the modern day storyline! I don't think this movie was terrible, but the ride deserves an Oscar worthy movie, something like POTC which did get nominated. Even though the new one will be coming out I'll still have a special place for this movie, haha I practically grew up with it :)

  • @emanuellepotter oops I meant to say, that POTC did win a few Oscars, not just nominations.

  • They BETTER have more romance in this new movie that's coming out!! I hope they use this overture :) It's beautiful and creepy at the same time

  • Carried her body right through the middle of his party,That was an awesome scene!!

  • @darthvalor07

    Nope, I loved it :-)

Murphy's acting, the quirky singing busts, the mausoleum and the whole you-must-be-my-murdered-finance-reborn-again ... ;)

  • i love the vid starting at the point 2:43 wit the singing and then the hanging and then the main theme :) only good part of the movie lol

  • their finally doing another haunted mansion movie.

  • @moviefan236 Hopefully this time it will be a real scary movie and Eddie Murphy wont be in it.

  • @JudgeDomClaudeFrollo I completely agree with your comment lol. And @darthvalor07, no, I don't think you're the only one who liked the whole movie, but for some reason it just rubbed me the wrong way. I'm glad there are some that do like it. :)

  • I agree that the opening sequence was the best part of the movie. It had me hooked and then the movie was such a bummer. However, I can't help but nitpick with the "death" tarot card, since "Death" doesn't necessarily mean PHYSICAL death, and most often represents rebirth. *sigh* :D

  • @JudgeDomClaudeFrollo I get annoyed by that too.

but in a way she was ''reborn'' right?

  • i loved it.

  • whats the music in the background, anyone know who it is by and wht it is called?

  • @Deaddoll92 Haunted Mansion Overture by Mark Mancina

  • if ur a fan of the ride ull like it if u dont no what haunted mansion is A. you need help B. you wont like it

  • Makes you wonder where the curse came from; Elizabeth's heartbroken family, the Fates deciding that too much had been left hidden to leave for resolving in either Heaven or Hell, or maybe the wealthy young man uttered the curse himself with his dying breath.

  • no actually i loved the movie from the begin till the end....i think the ride at the disney actually goes perfectly well w/the movie!!! i dont know y ppl r complaining soooooo much bout sucha great movie! very romantic and funny movie <3 it!

  • @heart127 I don't know why people complained either, it was a great movie I loved every second.

  • can anyone please tell me where can i get the opening music of the movie from? or at least the title of the music.....thank u

  • this movie SUCKED...a huge waste of money, time and effort

  • I Wish they had had Zeke in the Movie- it would've been cool xD

The plots okay- but it's not the best.

  • i love the hand falling and the dramatic whispers while hes running next comment plz agree with me

  • Hahaha,

'The Only Good Part Of The Movie'!

  • Comment removed

  • question: If the butler lured Sara to the mansion then how come he wanted her to marry mr. gracey i knw he wanted the curse to be broken but why did he want to marry the two. Cuz he hated elizabeth i think its a crazy plot

  • Because it was the only way to make them all happy, stop being trapped in the mansion etc.

  • Gracey wouldn't go back to the underworld until he had married his true love - sara therefore had to die for them to be married :)

i think its romantic in a way but thats just me :)

  • they should of just focus on the story of gracey and elizabeth it would of been a better movie

  • i always wounder how did he get so high up to hang himself? i mean ladders in those days probably sucked and he is way the hell up there!

  • Considering that they actually *built* that high, I think we can assume that they had ladders that went that far up. Just because something is old doesn't automatically mean it is primitive.

  • he probably stacked a bunch of books and climbed up or maybe he just got his butler to help him out!

  • Well they probably needed high ladders in those houses! Think about all the high chandeliers and such that would need cleaning and maintenance.

  • The ride is so much better than the film.

it would have been cool if they made a film about the haunted mansion holiday!

  • A movie about the Nightmare Before Xmas living int he mansion...

    not really. it'll seem corny.

I think this movie is fine, still give the ride its dignity like POTC. Unlike the Country Bears film

  • Or mabe one about Phantom Manor at euro disney if you now the storyline of that.

  • THat would make a perfect 'Another Haunted Mansion' movie.

It's a classic story. but this one is also sorta similar tot hat too.

Except the guy is waiting for the girl. Well the girl too. And they have the zombie gore in this like the ride too.

  • the phantom manor from what i've heard is based off of The Phantom of the Opera

  • @venecontry No its how a bride searches in vain to find her groom who vanished before their wedding and as she searches the house and the surrounding area turns in into despair and into disrepair and eventually sinks into deepest circle of hell.

  • they did get as close to the ride as possible but i just wish they could of added the stretching room...i mean like trap eddie murphy in the room and have the same kind of thing happen like in the ride and he has to find his way out

  • they did, at the end of thsi clip it shows hi mhang himself in the room and theres the scream from the ride

  • @meand6 No thats not what i was talking about...they show him hanging...but no stretching room

  • @meand6 yah i know right

  • seen this movie again not long ago

this movie would have been gr8 if they had made it a romantic one not a comedy

the start was so sweet and sad

  • best part!!!

  • I personally enjoyed the movie. Except...I only wish they would have expanded more on Mr. Gracey's story. I just love the beauty and sadness of it all. :) sucker for a romance here. hahah

but yeah, I too believe that the beginning was the best part... plus all the clips of Edward. hehehe ^_^

  • thank's for clearing that out because i think i asked a question simsilar to that and then people got me confused so um.. thanks

  • A classic story of love and heartbreak.

  • yea thanks it helped i didn't want to seem rude or anything.

  • 2:28-2:49 reminds me of poor thing from sweeney todd weird huh ?

  • not to make this a race thing because i am black but elizibeth is african or nubian whatever she is in real life wouldn't she be like a slave or somthing, well i guess she had a lot of power back then just an opinion.

  • I love the beginning and the concept of the story because it's dramatic and beautiful but the eddie murphey comedy just screwed it up and I was dissapointed.

  • yes!!! i love that part!! gosh is my favorite!

  • I love this movie! Question whats that spooky song the man servant plays in the tour DVD extra?

  • Tim Burton should do this one as well. I mean, Alice in Wonderland looks promising.

  • this and the zombie scene are like the only creepy parts of the movie.

  • i love this part of the movie!

it's just so beautiful yet evil

  • mansion ah

  • 2:50 - 3:00 is the only good part, because it actually captures the spirit (and music) of the classic disneyland attraction.

  • This was a completely ridiculous and upsetting movie fail...to me. Pirates of The Caribbean was not a comedy but an action movie, and it's a Disney movie! So...what the heck happened with this???

Why couldn't this be Disney's excuse to make it's 'only' Horror movie? OMG, I cant WAIT to remake this :)

  • Am I the only one who actually liked the entire movie from start to finish? :(

  • no =)

i loved the parts where eddie murphy freaks out over al the weird stuf thats going on there

  • I actually liked it too...

  • @darthvalor07 tht makes two of us

  • @darthvalor07 I liked it, it just doesnt make a good Disney movie.

  • @darthvalor07 No, I loves it too :D

  • @darthvalor07 i liked it too bad everyone is a critic lol

  • @darthvalor07 no i loved the entire movie.

  • @darthvalor07 I'm not normally into scary movies, but this one was really good!

  • @darthvalor07 no i love the movie to!:D

  • @darthvalor07 I certanly liked the whole movie. It had a clever plot and was humorous but still had that creepy edge to it.

  • @darthvalor07 I liked most of the non-Eddy Murphy bits, especially Master Gracey, the singing busts, Ramsley, and for some reason Emma and Ezra ;D

  • @darthvalor07 I did also, your not alone!

  • @darthvalor07 No, I loved it, even though my mom hates it

  • @darthvalor07 nope i did too

  • @darthvalor07 I liked the entire movie too...but the beginning was the best of all :D

  • @darthvalor07 hey, im with ya! i thought it was rather funny, but still great! :D

  • @darthvalor07

nope i liked it. it keeps to the true house in California (disneys the haunted mansion) :)

  • @darthvalor07 i liked it too but they could have added more to the phantom 5 ( the four busts they did not add the last one) and they could have made them sing the whole song instead of a part of the end at the beggining of the scene

  • @darthvalor07 no i love this film my fav characters have to be the head/ the ghost cook x your not alone i like it lol x

  • @darthvalor07 I love this movie!!

  • @darthvalor07 i liked the entire movie too my friend

  • @darthvalor07 I loved this movie! You're not alone! ;)

  • My words exactly about being the only good part of this movie.

  • 2:08 - 3:00

    EPICCCCCCC!!!

  • Great music.

  • When i saw this intro, i thought YES, this is gonna be a great movie!, but as soon as the bit with eddie murphy talking to the couple buying the house. I knew somthing was wrong.

  • at 2:49 how did he hang himself all the way up there?

  • very carefully

  • I thought they showed good and evil in a way kids could understand-I did when this came out I was so young it's werid to think about-I loved they guy who did the Princess Bride in this

  • This movie was very good ^^

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE

  • I do agree with ManorRecluse...the beginning is the only good part of the movie. I really want to get the rights to reuse the start because it is very well done. One thing I will change however, is the way the bride is murdered. In the ride, her heart beats red, so I believe that the butler (or someone else) stabs her in the heart (non gory) while shes in the attic trying on her wedding dress. This will explain why her heart beats red...and why shes holding a candle. To have some light...

  • The thing with The Haunted Mansion ride is, its not a scary attraction...but it has it's creepy feeling factor. I don't understand why Disney turned the movie into a comedy. There's nothing funny about the attraction. In my opinion, a PG-13 Horror or Mystery and Suspense would've been appropriate. Pirates got a PG-13 rating and it was a HUGE success. Guess we wont see a better version until I remake it, making it TRUE to the ride. Dark, tragic, and creepy

  • I think they turned it into a comedy because they wanted to keep the disney feel. Anyway, Disney did create Snow White and Cinderella.

  • i remember when i was little me and my family went to disneyland and we got on the haunted mansion and though the ride i was scared and crying.

  • Actually, in a way, I'm glad this movie wasn't all that good... Otherwise they would have put movie references in the actual ride. Which would've pissed me off! Pirates of The Caribbean is almost ruined in my eyes because of the movie references. At least the Pirate selling wenches is still there (Please put the Pirates chasing the women back) but Haunted Mansion has officially become my favorite ride, simply because there aren't any movie references in it.

  • what song is the violin

  • ok listen up . the original story of madame leota on the ride was she was inlove with gracey. she glamored his first wife lillian into the tightrope act and killed her "the stretching painting girl" and killing the other wife "attic ghost" by making her think gracey stood her up on her wedding day. gracey finds out catches her. she try's to put him in her ball but it backfired.

  • Remember, that's just cast-imagined stories. Madame Leota on the ride's story was that she was a cool effect they could do in a haunted house.

  • oh, i rea it on doombuggies , com

  • Not a problem. Just research something as fact before declaring it as fact.
