Damn, straight...Something a lot of little silly people have no clue about. House first and than all the rave, techno, trance shit. If there wouldn't be house, there wouldn't be all that european techno music happening....
Hum Chicago being soft. I don`t know about all that, its just a mismatched skilow .Personally I have a tendency for a little bit more hard & dirty melodic vibration!

that's right! HOUSE started in chicago, but has branched out into bastardized genres throughout europe. preach the truth to the masses! i L-O-V-E house music!
House music is great, that's why it spread all across the world, from Italo house in Italy to UK house, Australian house music. Where as all the cheap hip hop rubbish from 50 cent and co never made it anywhere. The only hip hop that keeps going is intelligent hip hop - De La Soul, Tribe Called Quest, they were much influenced by house. House is universal.
oohh I just praise to what you just stated. There isn't a word of lie behind what you just wrote. Let House muzik be the truth that prevails around the globe to be the one to tell it how it is.
thats bullshit. granted you had the warehouse club since the late seventies, but the music itself (as opposed to a mix of its influences, disco, new wave, italo etc) didnt appear until '82-'83 (1984 on vinyl)
For all seeking the truth that is backed up by past interviews with Farley Jackmaster Funk, Chip E & Frankie...the real story is told on youtube by DJ Leonard Rroy.
all i can say to those european people is that electronica may have been pioneered by kraftwerk and new age groups like new order, depeche mode etc. but i know house started in chicago, and its for everyone to enjoy.
closmartin...u have to know the history before making a comment. Check Pump Up The Volume - History of House Music. They are not being selfish at all, they are being honest. House music started in Chicago. Do you know where the term House Music came from? Do you know where TECHNO Came from? What they are saying is simply that house was created in chicago and then branched out. Why debate if you dont do the knowledge? House is a beautiful thing.
I am not from Chicago not even the USA,but I give thanks to all the people who started house music,if it wasn't for them there would not be house music,Respect Chicago.
You wouldn't have heard those beats if it hadn't been for Chicago. It is the origin of most and changed those which it was influenced by. We're far from selfish, we shared it with the world. In 1985 I was in Italy (military) sharing my vinyl with DJ's there and it turned the house out everywhere it played. If I were not so concerned with chasing women and getting blitzed at the time, I could have made a lot of money from the requests that I got.
Chicago ok, but thanks to the Europeans and other nations across the world HOUSE is now HOUSE MUSIC! the music of love and freedon remember dont be so selfish HOUSE!! is for the world ..
There is a rather rough video - soon to be on you tube - from the Chicago DJ that stamped the name House Music on what was being played in Chicago in the 80's - Leonard Remix Rroy!
thanks to Frankie K and the local Chicago boys of the day, chicago did become the first home to house, although NY was breeding a slightly different sound and emerging from the disco soul scene.. something like that anyway ..
Like he said, people can get upset all they want to, House Music began in Chicago. We use to make trips from Minnesota just to attend a Warehouse party back in the day....freaking awesome. And then Techno....Motor City, baby!!!
house i have to agree, techno, be careful what you say, europe (germany were neck and neck with the Detroit scene all the way, just a different sound)
no this is not like that. how this works is, its a double disc (double layered each) set, with about 30 different segments of different house music pioneers speaking about different things each, seperately to where you can skip between each one. each segment rangning from 5 to 20 minutes.
As long as it's not just 90 minutes of platitudes about how incredible house music is.most of the dance music documentaries i've seen have been more or less that, just in-crowd stuff. with some exceptions ('mr.de:a detroit story', 'pump up the volume')
This looks interesting. I assume this is a documentary about Chicago House Music. So when it's gonna drop? Could find any info about it on amazon.com.
I saw Ron Caroll dj a couple of weeks ago in my city and it was tight. Looking forward to the Amsterdam Dance Event, there's gonna be one crazy night with DJ Pierre and Marshall Jefferson headlining. I'm a hiphop kid by heart for 17 years now, but with hiphop's decline nowadays I'm really starting to feel US House Music.
funny i did it the other way, i was straight hip hop in the early 80's then by the time it really kicked off in uk late 80's with imports from armando an pierre an hercules etc it just went nuts, i was so lucky to be the right age to enjoy it.
This is the true history of House get this if your a music head.

hiphop was long established before then.
