Of course they did. Were they supposed to flutter to the ground? (Now THAT would have been evidence of a conspiracy.) Regardless of whether they were blown up or collapsed naturally, the debris would have travelled at exactly the same speed to the ground.
The "free fall" argument is erroneous AND irrelevant to the question of a conspiracy. Why do people persist using it?

I didn't say melt, I said malleable (you know, bendable). Jet fuel in air burns at 500 to 600f, plenty hot enough to cause steel beams to deform. The weight of the floors above contributed the additional force needed.
