Pardon, not the "where are you call," but the 'This is my territory" call. More barklike.

Looks like he's on defence, letting his mate know there may be danger. That's possible. It sounds a little bit like the red fox "Where are you?" call. He sure is pretty. :3

There are several sounds playing in this video. The high pitched whistle is a juvenile mountian lion vocalization, and the sound playing at the end of the video is juvenile gray fox distress. There are other prey distress sounds like mice/voles too. Why does the fox sit & bark? No one knows exactly why, but my best guess is that it just doesn't know what's going on and the bark is just a reaction to the sound stimulus.

What I don't get is that the call sounds like a prey distress call, and all the fox wants to do is bark.
