Re-setting the EJ on the Sharp XEA 203, 213 cash register

when ever I try to enter the date on my xe-a203, it refuses to accept the zeros as valid numbers. how do I fix this problem?

There isn't a curreny symbol displayed as de-fault on the UK versions of the Sharp XEA range.
