Why would you even need to test this? Just about every car made past 1998-2000 have immobilizers, and they all basically work the same way. Easy on the immediate revs with a cold engine.
Hey mate my car got stolen and it was a 1999 ford falcon with a immobiliser and everything.Do you have a clue as what are the possibilities to start it as the forensic locksmiths couldn't find anything either even after the investigation shit.
Is thee any way anyone can steal that car without the correct key??

@inger132 look mate it deepens on how technical you want to be about it. i don't see the difference between this security system. and from the ones in the GM vehicles. they all work the same way the key has a microchip. when you insert the key witch has in the microchip in it. It sends the code value stored in the chip to the ECU if it's correct the ECU activates the fuel and the Ignition System so that the vehicle can be mobilized.
My nissan versa has that. When u try to start it with a fake key it makes no noise at all. Complete silence. Then if you stick the real key back in, it will attemp to start with noise, but will not start. I have to wait 5mins before it comes back to normal. If fake key is inserted 3 times to start, it will lock me out completly, and nissan has to come and tow it back to the dealer and reset it. I have never gotten that far, and I hope I never do!!! lol
What if they hotwire it??

@ericspda what do you mean immediate revs on a cold engine if you looked at the temp gauge and seen it showed the motor was at normal temp

Thank you! ;D I've always wondered what would happen with an engine immobilizer and a key without the corresponding chip(s).

it's called VATS (Vehicle Anti-theft System)
Jackcc5 1 year ago
@Jackcc5
No it is not a VATS system.VATS pertains to GM vehicles from 1986 to 1999.....
inger132 1 year ago
@inger132 ok ok. but it must be something similar to that

@Jackcc5
Well, I guess transponder system would be the generic term for it.........
