The doctors are so afraid now to prescribe antiquate pain relief because of people who cannot control their usage. People who abuse it, such as doctor shop, and take more than prescribed, it's their fault, not the RX. Now drug companies are making new drugs to go around this, that have more side affects, then the good ol morphine derivatives. Plus the media shows just the bad.

ALL schedule I-II-III narcotics have to be brought into a pharmacy within 30 days or else it expires. there are already practices in place at pharmacies-CVS, RIte-Aid, etc. and hospitals - that track the dispensing of all narcotic drugs by law. ALL narcotics have to be accounted for by the pill when they are counted and leave the pharmacy - everything is logged, including to who they are administered to. Also, view the Controlled Substances Act.

Painkillers are NOT the only problem....its prescription pills across the board and doctors taking advantage of patients to secure money from insurance companies.

one of the issues is Doctors prescribing unnecessary medications or multiple medications to patients that could be taken less than prescribed

working at a pharmacist i saw many times where a pharmacists contacted the doctor asking them why they prescribe 10 drugs for a patient when they could or should be only receiving 4 or 5.
