I love Tai Chi Quan. My sifu is great actually. However, I've only finished the first Lu but he's shown me some push hands stuff and it's actually helped. I love the Chen style the most though, it's quite beautiful to watch though, I wish I could be as relaxed as him when practicing. My body's always too stiff.
Keep practicing, it gets better every year. Ma Hong up there was 69 when he was interviewed, and it was a fact that he still felt and moved as if he was 35.
You need to visualize your relaxation as well as physically experiencing it. A great way to relax quickly, have a training partner punch your legs, your arms, your chest, these areas can take it. As each impact wears off, you feel a moment of relaxation, it might take a few punches to work too. Do it in good humor, not serious or anything. I learned this from and experienced great results with Russian training styles they use it often to train. It works. Remember, just keep laughing.
Very interesting. I'm learning Shotokan Karate which use more power, and it is impressive to see in this video how to use less power and get more than you think you can. Even so, I learned a few things here which can be interpretation for some of the Shotokan Katas.
@amam511 You mean more muscular power? I think the force generated in Taiji can be as powerful as in Shotokan, but the method and type of power is different. Do you have san chin kata in Shotokan? I'm curious, a friend told me that Goju-ryu sanchin is very close to Fujian White Crane form. Crane is a style that seems to be inherent in both Taiji and Karate.
irishmarc1 WTF are you a retard? the man is showing applications for CHEN SHI TAI JI QUAN, in case it has escaped you he is not demoing MMA i think the white suit might be a little give away but in case you are too stupid to understand i will spell it out for you T H I S I S T A I J I Q U A N NOT M M A who cares what you think? but people care about this clip look at the views, now hush little one its bed time off you go before mummy comes to tuck you in hers a good child.
Id love to see you single leg take down him. Im sry to say you either end up in the first two forms of Chin Na if not the more fatal 3three lol MMA takedowns against a master what a joke.
Excellent explanation on the application of the various movements.

Oh, sifu is also the expression in Taijiquan? I always presumed that it was more common in Wing Tsun.
FinalKenny2 1 year ago
Yes, it's a Chinese term for master. It's used for Wing Chun, Wing Tsun, any Kung Fu style, etc...

Ah, ok. I will remember that, thanks.
