I remember listening to the whole album back in the 70's and my mom making a comment one day that this music sounded like something from some "weirdo's funeral." I just had to laugh. My mom rarely found any rock music to be "good." I do have to agree that the music from this album was less refined them their subsequent work, but it was cool sounding regardless.
I have this album which I bought when it first came out. I appreciated where Jeff Lynne was going. Also Saw them perform this album in Atlantic City, New Jersey at a small venue on the boardwalk 1972-73? Somewhat like Beatles later material. But I guess there was much more money in elevator music......Jeff Lynne is great artist!
Did you know that this album being named No Answer was an accident? some executive that was working on it was asking another one what it was called...he didn't get an answer, and so he wrote in his notes 'no answer" and somehow that was misconstrued as the album title. Only in the US is it No Answer. And that is why.
I was knocked out by the first album. I liked this track the best. I love the way they recreate the little theatre ensemble during the instrumental break. Great stuff!
Well, I'm sure you could easily pick up an old turntable at a neighbor's sale like me. Now, I've got all the old Rock N Roll, Jazz and Classical albums. But, I have a lot from the 90s on cassette as well. ELO is genius band!
Heard this in 1974, swaped a piece of wood in the shape of a gun for the albumn. What a good choice. Never heard this since then until now. Thanks ELO for me you changed war into love.
I think Jeff Lynne never really noticed how great his songs were that time. When ELO became commercially succesful all over the world he almost totally forgot
@MACGYVERKICKYOURASS Too bad you to not have the photo from the back of the cover and the photo that next the title of this song from the inside here. The photo next to the title of this song might not be suitable for younger viewers and for You Tube though so it may be good that you did not add that photo though.
3:12 and forwards, I could listen to that forever. Such good backing instruments, a really powerful progression, and truly amazing violin solo. I need an hour of just that part.
Off one of the very best albums of all time.No orchestra just 3 musos multi intstruments multi layered.

prog and experimental parts in his music.
