ummm when i got to the dropdown menu windows 7 was not even an option! what should i do? i selected vista service pack 2 and then i got fatal error later

My FSX was working fine one hour ago. No problems at all. After i download an airplane addon i go to free flight - start the flight - the screen loads to 100% - boom. "a fatal error occured"

I then thought, hmm this is probably just the airplane package not working, but then i see that now all of my aircraft have the same affect. It loads to a 100% then boom.

So i exit and reboot and so on, then i cant even enter the "free flight" button. the fatal error occurs again.Please help me, please :(

I have the following problem: when I click on fly now! , The screen minimalizes, and now there are two windows. one named Microsoft Flight Simul... and the other one untitled, so just the airplane icon. My right half of my screen keeps flickering grey, in front of my background, so I don't see anything of the simulator itself. Any suggestions.

I'm using Vista and when I first got FSX it ran perfectly, then a few weeks ago it started crashing after 40mins or so (quicker if I changed views a lot) with "fatal error has occurred" message. This is annoying if you're into a long flight then it crashes and you have to start again. I tried the solution shown in the video, then reran FSX, and it ran for nearly three hours (that is until I chose myself to quit FSX) with no problem at all, so a great fix. Thanks

Didn't work me.. Mine just crashed yet again.. It automatically swtiches windows when FSX starts to fit the combatibility.. I don't know what else to do for it..It just keeps crashing.. FSX isn't much fun..

It seems to crash alot when switching views as far going through my menu & selecting the views to switch back in forth from VC to Flight attendant cabin in Ariane airplanes.. Doesn't do it all the time but mostly in flight.. Very Disturbing

Hey man, thanks for trying to help me but this downs't work for me. This is what I did:

I put the UI file in here:

C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Microsoft Flight Simulator X. But it still freezes every time. I also set compalibily to Windows XP SP2, I already did this a few months ago. One thing that is suspicious is REX. I've installed this and having these problems. Everyone please tell me if you also have REX and this problem, then we know that it's REX and we can remove it.

I have a problem with FSX and Windows 7. I have fsx gold edition installed on an iMac which I have installed Windows 7 onto.After about 20mins of flying, for no reason at all, FSX returns to the desktop with a message saying that windows cannot fix the problem. @kestrel8888 I have that same problem too I have Wilco Pub Aircraft every hour or 2 it crash and stop working and restart. I don't know why hope they fix this for the New Microsoft Flight:) My system is a high end gaming system spend over all most $2,000 I use Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit with i7 860 @ 2.80GHz 8GB of ram and GTX285 with 1GB of ram soon I'll test it on my new 16GB of ram next week see if the problem still there.

@fedearaoz change dx settings in fsx to DX9 insted of DX10, you have to restart fsx when you do this. ;)

I've tried that -- it fixes the menu problem but every module in the wow64 ends up failing at some point within 5 to 20 minutes of app time. So far I have not been able to overcome the problem.
