The largest problem in our Canadian political system today is that we have MPs and their aides being paid north of $200K to work 6-8 months a year in addition to "expense accounts". I personally know an MP who gives preference to businesses over citizens because of the eventual kickbacks.

Third World Country? Each and every year for the last 20 years Canada has topped the US for standard of living. If Canada is third world, , then what does that say about the USA? BTW out of those 20 years, Canada had the highest rated standard of living for 8 of those years.

Here here, lets become become American! Or lets not. I absolutely agree with making the government more efficient and making spending more restricted but to broadly criticize the left for this is just unnecessary politicization of the issue of innefficient government. That being said, our taxes are often put to very good use. Finally, they government does an awful lot more than you give credit like CIDA or regulating our banks, which is why were not in the same mess as the U.S. and E.U.

Regulating banks is nonsense, imo, all we need is a free-market, and let the flawed banks fail, and successful ones prosper. I'm not happy at all with where my tax money goes in Canada, because i know very few of them are necessary.
