SOY CAZADOR Y HE ESTADO EN AFRICA.
NO HE VUELTO A VER ALGO TAN VERÍDICO COMO LOS POBLADOS WATUSI Y SU GANADO. QUIZAS EL BAILE ES COREOGRAFIADO. PERO NO LAS ARMAS TAMPOCO ES FALSO EL BAILE DE LOS BAJOS
one of my favorite movies, esp; this one starring stewart granger and deborah kerr. entire movie is thrilling and well taken revealing the beauty and danger of the great African continent , the wild fire scene is one of the best part i like. this movie is one among my classic collections.
The making of this movie described in Granger's book Sparks Fly Upward is as grand a adventure as the movie, if you like the film you should read Granger's book.
I enjoyed this movie immensely because I saw it originally as a child, the drumming is great. The real tribesmen in the movie are greatly appreciated by me. The dancing is tremendous. One of my favorites...so it doesn't follow the book, who cares, it's entertainment folks.
@Robo1415 I so agree with both of you. Never forgot those Watusi's dancing. It's the way I always pictured the jungle to be. yes, Stewart Granger was totally underrated as an actor. Can't imagine anybody from today's acting world even coming close to his character. Book..schnook! What pic follows the book anyway? To watch a movie, you don't need 'theater of the mind'.
@Robo1415 Guess they figure if you want to see it bad enough you'll be willing to pay for it. These are, after all, old movies and I've noticed the older they are, the more they cost. Best you could do would be to write a letter to the TCM movie network that shows old movies and ask if they'd run it. Then you could copy it from the tv for free.
@19111ellyc Only problem is,I don't have cable......I think i'll continue to look for it on vhs.Have some other movies to watch...To Sir with Love and The Caine Mutiny....haven't seen them in years...
@Robo1415 I got tons of vhs movies that I can't watch any more because the box no longer works so now gotta buy dvd's and hadda go buy a dvd player because my computer doesn't play them. Found out too that you gotta buy a universal player because some of the dvd's are from other countries and they need a special player. I tell you, it gets more difficult all the time. Shame you don't have cable. Maybe that would be a wise investment for you if it's available in your area.
I would say it follows the book closer than any of the other films, although I haven't seen the original 30's version so I can't speak for that one. Either way, it sails ahead of the Patrick Swayze remake
This appears to be nothing compared to the book. If they are going to change the characters and objectives they may as well change the entire title and, well, thats about all the kept.
Wow this is one of my favourites... I had seen this when I was in UK but didnt know the name.. net is great and so GOOGLE is!! Man I wanted to have this movie full.. where can I get?
The actual book inspired the critically acclaimed film "Raiders of the Lost Ark" with Indiana Jones and other films and stories

This movie is something else, not "King Solomon's Mines". There was no white woman mentioned in the book. This is totally absurd!

the book is so much different, this is blasphemous to the book.

Time for a remake more powerful than Pirate movies, something more of a treasure would be in order, one says.

Funny to read all the people whining "waah it's not as good as the book".
For fucks sake, get over it.

What a drag that film directors feel they have to butcher good books to make good films..

@19111ellyc I am trying to find a reasonably priced copy of Green Fire with Grace Kelly also......
Robo1415 10 months ago
@Robo1415 As I'm sure you're already aware, Amazon has a new dvd available for 26.99 and 15.99 used.
49.81 for a new VHS and 17.00 for used. That's all I got. I find those both to be a little on the high side.

@19111ellyc Yes...I've seen those...I would like to find one on vhs for a song:)
