I will continue to quote this from a diary. The Big Show by Pierre Clostermann a Frenchman who flew of the RAF: Page 135:...a Tiger tank, the one which had destroyed the three Shermans. It had been hit by a rocket-Typhoon.... first sight seemed intact. From closer too, however.... three small holes... two above the tracks and the other plumb in the middle the the black cross painted on the turret...
The Typhoon was relegated to CAS in the later part of the war and was well equipped for tank busting with 4 x 20mm cannons. The Typhoon could also fire rockets which they used to good effect on trains and airfields. A high school friend's father was a young Panzer NCO from '43-'45 and said the most feared Allied planes for Panzers were the Thunderbolt, Typhoon and P-38 Lightning, the latter having cannons.
@YambidiBlamBlam Then the Wirbelwinds or Ostwinds would have been picked off first, considering that they were fairly large targets themselves. Though effective against low-flying aircraft, the 20mm rounds the Wirbelwind fired weren't powerful enough, which is why the Ostwind replaced/supplemented it. Both models weren't produced in enough quantity to make any real impact on Allied air superiority anyway.

It may already have been said before, I am not going to trawl through all the pages, but, if you ever reedit this clip, which is very good by the way, when you get to the part where the pilot opens the throttle, please make it much slower. At the speed you show it would have blown the engine apart, especially on such a cold day when the density altitude would have been so low.
@The506thParatrooper no because he is in the commanders station and therefore what you are seeing is the view from the forward facing periscope head on the commanders cupola
The part i liked is how the tiger was fighting like 10 Sherman tanks. This remonds me of the story one of the old German Officers was giving on the history channle about how his tiger was alone in a field and they destroyed like 15 sherman tanks before they ran out of ammunition and Gasoline and had to abandon the tank.
wrong sound the tempest (like the typhoon befor it) had a napier sabre engine not a merlin like other british and some american aircraft (ie P51) and sounded totally different.
LOL Someone started a shitty old car outside just as the scene with the tiger tank appeared, I definetly thought you had added that shitty starter and shitty engine turn over as joke ROFL!

very nice, but at 2:28; when you'r in the tank, the gun will be on top, not below you

@The506thParatrooper no because he is in the commanders station and therefore what you are seeing is the view from the forward facing periscope head on the commanders cupola

Excellent graphics, she's a beauty although one Focke Wulf with a well trained pilot would have seen to her

Typhoons were tanks busters not Tempests.

It make be that I play to many video games but, are the tanks made with "Call of Duty: United Offensive" and the Tempest made with "IL2: Sturmovik"?

LOL Someone started a shitty old car outside just as the scene with the tiger tank appeared, I definetly thought you had added that shitty starter and shitty engine turn over as joke ROFL!

I am being a bit cheeky... but an alternate title for this could be: Crouching Tiger, hidden Tempest.

@willconq he he, good suggestion!
biltongbru 1 year ago
@willconq lol! Just before the Tempest made a second attack it became crapping Tiger. I would have jumped out as well. I dont think he even bothered to tell the rest of his crew!
