  • Funny how Satch has a shit load of clothes and rebecca is just using that shirt

  • i have an orange guitar rofl

  • Curious why Satriani split with Peavey?-Back to Marshall HuH?.......seems like every huge guitar player eventually splits with em' after a bit.....

  • Why does he put white tape around the on/off switches?

  • @yekshemesh4alig probably as a locator in the dark. it can be pretty hard to tell where things are at on a dark stage.

  • @yekshemesh4alig it's glow in the dark tape so he can find the pedal on off switches in the dark while wearing shades.

  • Don't mind if i do do.

  • I want to see Rebecca suck dirks!

  • I never liked Satriani's ass...

  • I believe those mics are KSM 32's

  • Good interview, Rebecca, but you seemed a little impersonal. Like "Hey I have questions you will answer them" Not bad, just an observation.

  • Am I going color blind or is that guitar at 9:20 not orange

  • @alxdd2

It's really a orange one. In fact it does not seem orange in the vídeo, but it surely is orange.

  • I can see his eyes!

  • i would love to speak with joe about helping me with my sound, that would be awesome.

  • Damn she is fine, love Joe as well musical genius the man is.

  • haha endorsement makes me laugh so much, using the marshall JVM but ... we've basically frankensteined the fuck out of it to get a decent sound.

  • everybody says he looks like voldemort, i say he looks like a bald ben stiller.

  • Anybody recognised that the most famous musicians interviewed here present their gear themselfes?

  • voldemort!

  • How much more black can it get? well none black, none more black.

  • i think joe has to put in production that kinda strat js guitar its just awesome! i would buy it without thinking so much about it

  • I love how their girls know their stuff and are hot. ^ ^

  • Awesome - thanks Joe and Rebecca. Joe is the real deal, with a great down to earth attitude - very nice to see!

  • He's a musical genius, love him.

  • That was the best gear run down/interview I've ever seen Joe do. Nice job, Rebecca!

  • interesting interview if only I had a clue what he was talking about

  • the delays are always on....same in my setup. every patch I use has some degree of delay in it in my guitar rig. even if it's the most subtle thing it really opens the tone up whether ur using a good ol fashioned wall of marshalls like joe or if ur using an axe fx or anything. delay is my best friend in terms of guitar tone

  • I wonder if she knew half of what he was talking about...

  • All the right questions. Great job !

  • i love beautiful girl

  • Joe is so cool !!!

  • never tried these amps, but if MArshall finally dropped that compression shit to go back to dynamic amps, I'm saying they're going in the right direction

  • @mouloudo Engl needs to do the same thing.

  • @1norville

The Invader is a good ENGL for getting around that squish. So is the new Classic 100

  • @ThieleM But, I heard that the third channel in the Invader lacks mids, and what is the new classic 100? Are you talking about the Retro 100?

  • @1norville

I'm sorry, yes the Retro 100 is the new amp.

My Invader has great mids on channel 3. Channel 4 is oozing midrange

You would probably also like the Morse which is one of the most mid heavy amps I have ever played.

  • @mouloudo

dude they make this "vintage modern" amp

cool thing - have you ever tried those?

  • @moebetoblame must confess that I never tried those, but heard they were good... I have a 1972 hiwatt and a 1973 JMP so I'm pretty happy at the moment lol

  • He is dressed as if was 35 degrees and she is dressed as it was 80 degrees summer time! 00:12

  • this girl would be the perfect girlfriend/wife ^^

  • The white guitar looks like a tic tac

  • wow, great questions. she knew what she was doing.

  • wouldn't think Joe would need that backstage pass hanging off his neck at his own gig, but what the hell do I know?!

  • satch, its been a year, where the fuck is the signature amp?

  • @joniiboy it will be out in a few months, they are making some slight modifications to the original design.

  • I love her. So much.

  • I always read her name as Drinks lol

  • 14:20 the answer is none, none more black

  • 2 people have white acoustics.

  • Satch is the bomb!

  • what is the name of that pedal 2:23 and how i can get it?

  • Where is his sunglasses.....has he mutated? lol

  • All this shit is very nice but at the end of the day it wouldn't matter if he played with a $500 guitar and a cheap practice amp. I think it's a lot more important to Joe than it is to the audience. As a classical player I've learned that the guitarist has to do with 100% of the sound. The equipment is like clothes on the same person. Still 100% the same person.

On a different note: Joe you're a fine player but please shave those nappy arms and stop wearing gay clothes.

  • @StephenAnthonyMusic lol, your final suggestions are kind of a contradiction, don´t you think?

  • It's been a year...Y U NO MAKE SIGNATURE AMP?! ;)

  • @MrJonzii94 He have his signature peavey jsx,i can't understand why he don't use is :\

  • @Creed24Nickelback cuz marshall is da bomb!!

  • @Dontwant2thinkofuser yeah but jsx have the same sound of marshall o.O

  • @Creed24 uh uh marshall is betterr that peavey doesn't copare to the jvm410 i think

  • @Dontwant2thinkofuser i don't know..

  • Joe sounds like a doctor lol .. He's so thorough

  • He makes it look like it's FREEZING on stage. But it's super important to stay warm as a guitarist, especially one with a bald head!

  • joe you are a true master at your trade and know your stuff

  • Maestro Joe!

  • I'm not a big fan of Joe Satriani, he's a wizzard for sure and I do enjoy listening to some of his stuff but only for a limited period as it's just a bit too much lead for my taste. However he sure is a really great guy who cares for passing on his knowledge to his fans.

  • @TalkToTheBody Thank you for using decent constructive criticism. The world needs more of that.

  • @TheSinfinity000 Many thanks for those words and I do agree with what you said. I have one Satriani album (flying in a blue dream?..something along those lines). I have yet to hear a decent album from a guitarist. I find almost all solo albums from guitarists quite self-indulgent and at times very boring. I think a few think they can do the whole works, drums, keyboards, bass, vocals, production, mixing etc and the end result is often pretty dreadful.

  • @TalkToTheBody It is sad and very annoying that guitarists can't do anything new. I can't bring myself to enjoy any new solo guitarists. The older guys like Satch and Steve Vai are great, but I'm not finding anything good from anyone new. It really sucks.

  • @TheSinfinity000 I agree but it is also not easy for guitarists thesedays to come up with something new as a lot of it has already been done. I'd like to see less of the speed riff playing and more feeling (aka Gilmore). I also think there's too much emphasis on over-rated players like Jeff Beck etc who really has milked one hit song for most of his career. Carlos Santana another over-rated player who widdles a lot (in my opinion).

  • @TalkToTheBody Thank you again! Yes, feel is KEY! If you have pure technicality but no feel (*cough, cough, Rusty Cooley, cough*) it's just no good. I understand and respect your opinion about Santana, but I like his music a lot, not just because of his playing, but because of his tone. That tone is just mind-blowing to me.

I also see where you're coming from with guitarists having trouble making new material. I will admit that I don't really know how to fix this issue.

  • @TalkToTheBody I sadly can only pray that someone finds a new radical way to fix this issue.

Sorry, ran out of room on the last comment.

  • 14:27 jajajajaja!

  • Going to see chickenfoot in january :D

  • Avada kedavra bitch- oh wait.

  • good interviewer

  • Joe is such a nice very cool guy.

  • @slugpumper1 I met him on the street in 'hood I live in on union @ SF - he's actually not in his introverted / SF state. That's ok, no one here is, just saying he isn't that great of a dude to meet in a bar or randomly. Otherwise, when you mean cash as a fan, sure is! ;)

  • @goingwithzed huh?

  • To all you arguing about the tone change in pickup position on a 24 fret guitar, it does make a difference! Making the neck pickup warmer or smaller are both a way to compromise for the pickup being moved to make room for the "extra" frets!

  • at 4:31 That is a shitload of knobs on his Marshall

  • I'm surprised that no one comments on her. She's a great interviewer. She knows when to keep her mouth shut and she obviously knows her gear.

  • @niptodstan Most importantly, she is a perfect mix of hot and cute.

  • @Gabriopunk77 lol I thought you were talking about Joe...

  • i would love to sit with him for a few hours and just talk gear and guitars and effects...

    great guitar player

  • I love how when he said "Wet" reverb pedal it got like quiet for a second haha

  • So Joe....the Whammy is only used for the outro on Revelation? Have you forgotten Searching?

  • Satch on the neck pick up...ehhh I've never heard the difference, then again Satch has perfect pitch, but so does Guthrie Govan and he says that the neck humbucker with 24 frets sounds the same as it does on a 22 fret guitar.

  • @HurricaneTBag It loses it's warmth because it's in a different position, but that can be solved by making the neck pup warmer. Perfect pitch has nothing to do with that subject.

Also Guthrie, doesn't have perfect pitch. Though his relative pitch is very good, I dunno about Satriani, I doubt he has it as well.

  • @Phrygian12 I think you're misunderstanding me. I'm saying that I think that "24 frets changes the sound on the neckpup" is bullshit, Guthrie Govan says he can't hear the difference. Govan has absolute pitch in his ear, through all the ear training he has.Since he can't hear it, I'm unsure it exists, and if it does I'm unsure it can be noticed. I've played plenty of 22 and 24 fret guitars, and I've never heard the difference.

  • @HurricaneTBag If you move any pickup you will definitely without doubt change the tone of the sound and the amplitude. The problem is 99% of people will never find out unless you physically get your guitar and chisel out a new position for your pickups, irrespective of which pickup you move. I have changed pickups and modified the electricas in several guitars but I have no intention of moving a pickup so most people would never find out anyway

  • @Phrygian12 In fairness most 22 fret guitars I've played haven't had super super hot pickups, whereas the 24 fret guitars I've played have super hot pick ups like EMGs, Evos, Liquifires, Super Distortions, Pearly Gates, D-Activators, etc.

  • joe is cool , he's staring he's own rig down

  • Love it. So technical.

  • Comment removed

  • its reflective tape

  • why does he put tape or whatever it is around the pedal switches

  • Comment removed

  • @mnm1945 Dark stages.

  • he speaks sure-fire. he's really a great man. a great teacher, i supposed.

  • press 1 for funny letters

  • Marshall signature will be £1200ish i think, because as far as im aware its not a limited model like the AFD100 and YJM100

  • I feel guilty like I'm watching porn, it's so cool to hear a young lady know what to ask as a technerd. There is a God. Shit the wife's coming..........

  • satriani wants to bang 14:27

  • @tamomarley could you blame him?

  • 6:38 in next year he will be retaill i m thinking about price

  • wow im so surprised how generous joe is regarding his gear. he seems like a genuinely nice guy...

  • learn colors with joe satriani !!!

  • Joe is the Best !!!

  • I love the rounded body shape :)

I wish they made rounded RG's like your JS-series

  • Why has Joe switched from Peavey amps to Marshall?

  • @acdcgregpage03 because marshall kicks ass!!!!..... that´s where he should be long ago

  • @acdcgregpage03 Actually he was using Marshall on his earlier albums. Now he has returned with a sig amp. I am soo glad, His Marshall tones are killer and I just couldn't warm up to his Peavey tones.

  • Rebecca put people at ease and really get some great information.

  • @WayMoreGuitar When speaking with multiple people like Santiago (pardon the spelling, Ive never been able to spell his name right) and Joe, they are working on the amp intensely and at its current stage its looking like we will see it at winter NAMM this year. However, knowing distributers, it will be released after NAMM but wont hit stores until next SUMMER. Keep those fingers crossed that they can move it fast!

  • @Ozymandius666 WOW! Thanks for the info! That's a long wait. Maybe Marshall needs to expand and hire some people! Rumour has it that there will also be an anniversary head this winter. Any info on that?

  • I never understand what the hell these guys are talkin' about..but i love listening to them describe it!!

  • He used to use peaveys now hes into marshalls a real amp. peaveys are junk.

  • Why cant all girls be like her ! :(

  • he use's the Peavey for the harmonica in Big Bad Moon

  • what happened to his peavey amps? they came out not too long ago.... huh... idk

  • @SomeYoungGuy1993 I was giften enough to watch Joe Satriani live. You will be disappointed to know, he doesn't use one. He uses a variety of Marshal JVM's. I saw him live around when this video was uploaded, and when I saw him live, his rhythm guitarist used the Peavey's, but Joe didn't. It pissed me off, cause I was gonna buy one, until I realized it was all bs; As a band with the NAME Joe Satriani, they use them...But as a solo artist, Joe Satriani didn't (only his rhythm guitarist).

  • @APanterALevel No actually, he's been using it for years, he's just changed recently.

  • @APanterALevel As someone else commented, he had a falling out with Peavey as they became harder and harder to work with over the years. Since the incarnation of Chickenfoot he began to play around more and more with Marshalls on the touring with that band and then signed up with them. Due out Spring of 2012 is the Marshall signature, we are hoping to see its début to the world in winter NAMM.

  • @Ozymandius666 Spring?!!!??? That would be a bummer! I thought it was due at the end of the year and THAT's too long! Where did you get the Spring info?!! I wish that Marshall would get several tube amps out there at once instead of one at a time, months apart! I'd like to be able to try out these new JVMs alongside the YJM100 and upcoming 50th anniversary heads .... same day, same place, but that's gonna be tricky. The YJMs (and AFDs) NEVER show up in the stores. Time's wasting!

  • beware of voldemort.

  • @KillingLies1 yeah voldemort with millions of horcruxes all over the world ;)

  • this girl really knows alot about guitar

  • What happened with his Peavey gear???

  • Seeing as alot of people are talking about tone the one thing that i can say to any young guitarists out there is DON'T MID SCOOP. keep the mids high in your mix and just work your lows and highs around them. mid scooping just doesn't sound good. especially for articulate playing.

  • @prototypep4

well to be honest i think its ok to scoop your mids however you may need to try scooping a certain mid frequency using a Graphic eq, that could help?

  • Comment removed

  • first time I hear him talk... first time I see him without glasses

  • So he's not using the Peavey JSX any more...He's a tone genius.

  • @emgzwset ??? Really... You need to listen to more music, he FAR from a Tone Genius... he's a shred player IMO and he a pretty boring listen... compared to the greats like Jimmi, Albert Kin, Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker and Stevie Ray Vaughn he's a robotic player IMO. Those guys had TONE by way of great old guitars and their two hands. Sure he's got chops and he can clearly play a guitar, but I find him SO boring to listen to. I was just kinda interested in what he played on.

  • @4rescue How often do you play that you tell me to listen more music? Then why are watching this video if you are bored! I've been playing for 15 years 5x a week and play almost any type of music and do some records as well. Those guys you mentioned are forerunners of what guitarists are right now.And they were considered shredders of their own time.TONE isn't just for older generation/bluesers etc. It's for everybody who plays guitars and has ears to justify. So don't get upset if you can't shred

  • @emgzwset I gig every week... and I'm actually playing my Tele Deluxe RIGHT NOW (I probably spend 40hrs a week with a rig in my hands). I agree that Tone isn't for us Older blues guys... it just seems that ALOT of the tone these days comes out of electronics and not the soul like it used to. Considering there are specific pedals to JUST get say Jimmi or SRV's tone w/o any understanding of what goes into that tone, it's become a far lazier world then it was when the greats made their sound.

  • @emgzwset You make some valid points, and I'm sorry I assumed you were speaking from a place of not knowing. Sounds like you play as much as I do eh. I've played on a couple friends albums and I gotta say the studio thing is SO different to me, I almost don't like it. I vastly prefer playing in a jam format or giging...

  • @emgzwset JSX sounds really good if you know how to set it up...

  • @WyattTheGuitarist It's always the best to know what you're doin..

  • she's really good at maintaining eye contact.

  • the interviewer's mic was a Pgaul gilbert signature hahaha lol

  • This rig is total overkill. He doesn't use 70% of this stuff most of the time. A wah pedal & a distortion pedal with some delay going through a decent amp is the core of Satriani's tone. For those trying to copy his sound, it's in the hands. Practice playing the guitar, not tweaking the knobs.

  • hey wat happened to peavey amps???????????????????? the jsx rite? well i love marshall better than peavey. the fuckin peavey owner doesnt even know how to play guitar!!!

  • I was smitten with Rebecca until she failed to bite on the quote: "How much blacker could it get?"

  • pedals is a bad choise. a real musician dont use them. for example paganini - he played violin without any effects. effects need to be with a being who doesnt cost much itelf.

  • @DmitryNikon thats because paganini was around before electricity so there wasnt even such a thing as effects, and btw joe satriani uses effects and he's one of the best musicians in the world today... your comment is one of the most ignorant things ive read in a while

  • @johnathandk42134 Classical music never dies, it was it will be, yes Joe Satriani is good but not so good like any of classical players. Any style of music can harm or abuse a human, for example rock or rap... etc classical music shows how beautiful and interesting is itself. My choice - Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Vivaldi and influence of Paganini.

  • @DmitryNikon classical music is good and i listen to it, but as far as im concerned no type of music can "harm or abuse a human"

  • @johnathandk42134 you dont understand from what goes rock/ metal music... but often most humans understand it before they go in life after life...

  • @DmitryNikon dude do you not speak english or are you just retarded because you arent making a damn bit of sense

  • @johnathandk42134 well actually all only japanese robots dont have senses, humans have. im sure. :)

  • @DmitryNikon ok so your just retarded

  • @johnathandk42134 i dont know if it good to be the smartest human in all over, you cant save your brain forever on this earth. :D

  • @DmitryNikon

music doesn't harm people, people do. classical is classical, but can get old like any music. that's why it's best to listen to a greater variety of music.

  • Not only was that a great interview with Satriani, but his guitar gear is amazing! What he uses in pedals & amps for one show, most musicians would use in their career perhaps. I loved how he detailed everything in his explanation, he left no questions for me. This was one of the best Premiere Guitar Rig Rundowns ever, in my opinion.

  • Lord Voldemort?

  • 14:25 Satch the smooth stud..

  • That stage is the historic state theatre here in minneapolis,I saw the first g-3 tour there, awsome!

  • What happened with Joe and Peavey....? Wasn't the JSX his end all be all amp? Personally I dig Marshall better, but Joe put so much work into the JSX. What happened?

  • Poor Peavey

  • ............I use an Squier made in china, pick ups Seymour and DiMarzio and a Line 6 amp !!!! this sound great !!!! come on boys the sound live in our minds and of course in our fingers !!!! please watch my chanel and see what I'm talking about !!!

  • All this stuff is just Merchandise, like a Hollywood T-shirt,!!!! he could sound great with only a Guitar and an Amp, also I am an ecologist, and if you know all this use a lot of batteries, vacuum tubes in the amps are so toxic, and of course we kill a tree for make a guitar, !!! ........

  • this voldemort joke is pretty recent...

i guess after seven movies he decided to let his satch fans know the truth

    hehe

  • OMG its voldemort!!

  • @patrickspicer1 No voldemort is a dark wizard, Joe is a Wormhole Wizard!
