  • The last time I heard this was probably about 3 years ago. Boy have these last 3 years been incomplete

  • One of my all-time favourite pieces of music ever! Symphony X rules!!!

  • This song was what made me an instant fan of Symphony X ^^

  • once again i'm transported away. real art right here!

  • Lo mejor que he escuchado.... así de claro... queremos veros en DVD por favor!!!!!!!

  • ¡¡¡¡Esto es brutal!!!!

  • Always great sensations when you can bound a story to a music piece! If you love orchestrations, please check out my prog metal opera right here: /watch?v=i26VdsuiSGQ

  • NOW I WANNA SEE THE MOVIE AGAIN

  • This is history right here

  • 16 superfans of Dream Theater are still not convinced that Symphony X is greater than your favorite band

  • @jmrvxpful music is not a sport, there´s no winner! however, i think symphony x i way more technical and melodic, I´d prefer 100 times listening to romeo than listening to petrucci, he is BOOOORING!

  • @jmrvxpful Why must you brandish your musical illiteracy at every possible moment?

  • Comment removed

  • @jmrvxpful ive only recently started getting into symphony X but i do love dream theater so far i only really like this album out of the 3 i heard

  • best song evver

  • Those drums.

  • Listen to the riff at 9:33 ... then listen to the intro riff from the song Moonrise by Nevermore... You will shit bricks.. lol

  • @Vaeiz lmfao total ripoff? which song came out before?

  • @Vaeiz good ear

  • Fucking Homer man, Symphony X is my new favorite band, this is beyond any compairison to any music out there... Fucking holy shit

  • Final thought and then I'll shut up: 16 people couldn't find their way home.

  • This is the kind of thing that you can call "epic" without looking like a worthless faggot. Because, it is indeed an epic. :D

  • @Sduibek So true. I hate it when fucking faggots call anything these days "epic". This is one of the few things that actually IS.

  • THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING THIS! You sir or ma'am are now awesome.

  • This is making my homework fucking epic.

  • Pure perfection, greetings from Serbia !!!

  • Too bad you can only listen to this song twice an hour.

  • @MyNameIsAkiba FALSE! You can listen to it 2,4861878453038674033149171270719 times an hour.

  • @MyNameIsAkiba Play it in 20 tabs at the same time and enjoy multiple eargasms

  • @MyNameIsAkiba That's fucking brilliant! :D

  • Champion of Ithaca is the most epic part of this song - or the whole Odyssey album

  • Most songs of this length are hard to listen to the whole thing. But i cant say that i stop listening to this song early. It is brilliant.

  • I do love this track...but for some reason I can't take Jason Rullo very seriously at all...he just seems like he is trying very hard to be Mike Portnoy and I can't shake that feeling. But this track truly is a journey!

  • @RazMate90 Jason Rullo is probably one of the closest drummers to Portnoy, I'll allow it lol

  • yeah I practised and now I can tap along part 0:59 - 1:20.. C:

  • Epic!

  • Also "bubble gum rock"ers do not write 24-min songs full of time changes, long instrumental breaks & unconventional song formats. This is anything BUT bubble gum rock. And no, it's not bubble gum rock because the vocals are melodic either. I say clean your ears out & let the music flow :)

  • Still a great band, but I really miss the Odyssey / Divine Wings style w/the great baritone vocal harmonies & dueling guitar / keyboard solos. They're still great doing their current, more direct style, but I really miss the truly epic nature of their older material.

  • bubble gum rock

  • LONG

  • sounds bit like early kansas..

  • @kasra2003 I LOVE Kansas! They're my 3rd favorite, following Rush & Yes. Bands like them lead me to bands like Symphony X!

  • ´X

  • o,O a little long no? XD

  • @xisco95 It's not about the length, forget that. Imagine that world coming in front of you. Imagine the song and its characters, the action and forget everything else.

  • Did my ears die and went to paradise? Oh wait, it's just "The Odissey" by Symphony X...

  • The riff at 15:00 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If anybody ever plays through Final Fantasy tactics on the ps1, alot of that soundtrack sounds like this song

  • 666th like!

  • Oh, how cool. A song about the Odyssey! By Symphony X, too.

    *checks length*

    Mother of God...

  • @YoshiFan100 and yet every minute it gets better and better ;)

  • This song is epic on an epic level. Yes...epic squared...

  • Am I asleep?

Tell me Daughter of the Sun

There's vengeance in the air and all things must be undone

    *Goosebumps*

  • IS THIS THEIR LONGEST SONG?

  • @LightsOfShadows It is!

  • Legend of Zelda type shit here :D

  • OMG first time i listened and when The solo started I jizzed so hard.

  • Lovely, hah.

  • AMAZING!

  • This shouldn't even be called a "song".... IT'S A FUCKIN' MASTERPIECE!!

  • @YamamotoKaiyoshi ya no shit hey

  • This song is soo epic

  • Holy shit. This band is from NJ, too.

  • /watch?v=tnO7hlFEOtg&feature=related

Camel song "Metrognome" from their 1977 album.

Not saying there was a rip-off, but considering prog metal is usually influenced by prog rock, and camel is a well-known band, its interesting to hear how it sound similar.

  • i think that evry body should listen to a masterpiece such as this one., at last once in the lifetime

  • イントロが最高にかっこいい

  • Comment removed

  • 07:13 Metroid - Meta ridley Battle?

  • 02:00 to 02:28 sounds like something they'd play for when Horsemen are riding into Battle.

  • fuck yeah! I love this song!

  • 6:44 = cygnus x1

  • @Flailwielder Rush rulez!!

  • This must be one of the most complete metal songs ever.

  • @LucienLachance100 Then I, a die hard Symphony X fan, must have disliked this.

  • One of the most epic tracks I've ever come across!

  • 12 people had never traveled to Ithaca

  • I am officially obsessed with this song now! My favourite part is the instrumental part right after the, "I'm falling! / Victim betrayed by the sea." Symphony X, you are an epic band!

  • 24 minutes! NOOO! Why did it have to end, this could at least been 4 days long.

  • @Yadooba It could be like 20 years long, as long as Odysseus's journey was.

  • @godisdead667 : GOD ISNT DEAD

  • The intro is a song itself!

  • should i be proud to know all the lyrics?

  • @havetologintodothat I wish they would put this song on rock band so I can play it on drums!!!

  • I totally danced to this by myself :D

  • Que merda!!!

  • one of the best metal pieces written. Full stop.

  • I finally get it lol, the Eye is the cyclops in the cave, I really love the story and the fucking tribute to this awesome myth

  • So underrated, this band is great.

  • that part from about 12.00 onwards is my favourite.

  • @rockinghell91 that part from about 0:01 onwards is my favorite

  • @19:14 my skin = goosebumps

  • pinche rolonnnn poca madre

  • I love this song!

But whenever this song starts it reminds me of Disney movies

    LOL

  • 24 minutes!

    mother of god!

    o.o

  • @erickgodofwar 24 minutes = not enough.

  • 1 masterpice on history

  • 10 people died during their return to home...

  • @THEWICKERMAN93 They were forced to walk the plank for treason.

  • This song is awesome!!

  • Why the hell are the top two comments about Dream Theater? Sure they're a good band and all, but that's not really relevant.

Are they triumphant champions of Ithaca? No.

  • Jesus Christ 24 minutes.

  • @GhostOfLagg yes man, 24 minutes of fucking epic music! really kicks ass!

  • @GhostOfLagg 24 minutes is not enough when you learn the song!

  • Symphony X at 1080p! *drools*

  • 10 people need to be tied at a mast with sirens above singing and crapping their heads!!!

  • i visited ithaca this summer. awesome place. and props to SX for playing this song in it's entirety in Athens.

  • thank you for playing this in athens today!best surprise ever!

  • Far out, what's the file size of this at the highest quality?

Amazing song, thanks for the upload :D

  • 24:08 minutes of awesomeness. <3

  • Used this song for a presentation in university :)

  • @pizzacastello That song WAS the presentation right? :P probably only a part of the song?

  • @TheRealMechanix I knew that the tutor and my mates there wouldn't accept to listen to the whole song, so yes, I pressed "play" and started talking about the song and some other stuff that I had prepared similar to this.About the middle I ended my presentation. I study architectural engineering, we do freaky things at times, haha :D

  • @pizzacastello Still awesome that you showed them this masterpiece :D

  • @TheRealMechanix Thanks bro \m/

  • That's a fucking journey!

  • It's really hard for me to comment on a Symphony X video because all I want to do when I listen to their music is pat myself on the back and masturbate. No free hands :/

  • Half the views on this video are mine, guaranteed.

  • The power and infinitely divine vocals and playing of Symphony X is beautifully crafted into a 24 minute epic, simply mesmerizing and mind blowing. With each breath, Russel Allen solidifies Symphony X's position as a band stronger than dream theater; Romeo enters with the guitar, creating shredding masterpieces and phrases that will bring you to tears. In the last, as Allen screams "Triumphant, champion of Ithaca!" he acknowledges this triumphant, significant, victory for Symphony X. Perfect!

  • When I got my new headset, I wanted to test out the clarity and quality. I brought up Youtube, got The Odyssey playing, and half cried half sang at it for an hour.

    And that's a true story.

  • this is a metal masterpiece

  • These 24 minutes are the definition of the word "masterpiece", seriously, this is pure art, music can't be much better than this.

  • My favorite metal (and probably overall) band, also probably my favorite song ever. Simply stellar, it can't get any better. -- Thanks for uploading.

  • the top comments should be about Symphony X not Dream theater

  • @InfinityDz

The top comments should be about Symphony X, not about that the fact that the comments should be about Symphony X and not Dream Theater! ;)

  • @andrefs01 lol I didn't expect my comment to be top xD

  • @andrefs01 Exactly...even though this song is my FAVORITE Dream Theater song ever!!!

  • @andrefs01 Inception :O

  • @andrefs01 HOLY SHIT!

  • @andrefs01 That is so meta.

  • @andrefs01 mind=blown

  • @InfinityDz You realize that your top comment has to do with Dream Theater...?

  • @theAsh2197 God I hate smartasses like you.

  • Full version of a 24 minute song in 1080p?

    Gratz, your my hero.

  • amazing 25 minutes....

  • Masterpiece... You Can Feel that you are in the middle of a Mythological God's War..

  • Wonderful song! The lyrics of this song is very beautiful!

  • Symphony X to me is kind of like a mix of Dream Theater and Blind Guardian....2 bands which I absolutely love. I've become very fond of this band as a result. Great song

  • @goblin2055 You should check out Adrenaline Mob. Mike Portnoy on drums, Russel Allen singing. My head nearly exploded from that.

  • @TheNewRavager I checked em out and they're not bad. Portnoys my favorite drummer and Russel Allen's voice is just amazing.

  • Masterpiece!

  • EPIC!

  • a lot of people get bored when they hear long songs like this. but, symphony x writes epic hooks and tells a story through this songs and the divine wings of tragedy. this is an epic prog anthem. long, but epic.
