Something we have done with our children is try to leave out the 'and' with Y and Z. The kids have nothing to go by when they are first learning and our first at one point thought 'and' was a letter. So from then on when we sing it its "...W, X, Y,..(little pause or hold the y longer) Z"

That's a good point - "and" is not a letter - It did however, work with the melody quite well and we chose in favor of including it for that reason.

My 5 year old son and I are living abroad in Germany. He is going to school over here and is learning a great deal of German. He unfortunately is not getting to learn too much English. We speak English at home but I am afraid he will not learn to read or write in English. These sites are awesome. I am having to teach him his English at home.

@klairdelun456 In Germany you start learning English from the 3rd grade straight (some schools even start English in first Grade). So with a little help at home you don't have to worry about him not learning English.
