The fact that Probert even fought the jackhammer that was Laraque is amazing considering Probert was well past his prime. In his prime Probert was the toughest NHL fighter EVER.

But my point is Laraque also took on all comers and I never once saw him get smoked.

The league would rather see players drop the gloves and go man to man over players using their sticks as weapons (Marty McSorely comes to mind) or take cheap/dangerous hits to retaliate or protect teammates.
