The gloves are a NESSESITY in my case, I am disabled & suffered some major injuries to my hands & wrists so my grip is not too tight so I have to use tape & gloves to hold on to the sticks
Hi Crack thanks for the kind words. I had been playing less then 2 years (steady) when this video was recorded & I only play for myself & for fun/relax. That's what it's all about right!
I don't know James, it may be true here but as my description of the video states I'm trying out my new EC2 Heads so I'm trying to hear how they sound during a song thats all. Just trying to have fun that's all, not trying out for a grammy LOL.
To be quite honest the EC2's make MY kit sound the best it ever has and I've tested 6-7 heads thus far on this kit. I LOVE them, now I'm using the CLEARS so I'm sure the coated are a little less open & probably a bit more muffled. Either way I highly recommend them for sound AND Durability. They have out lasted any heads I've used as well. Hey give 'em a try nothing to lose besides a few bucks right !
hey man great job! very clean drumming. couldn't hear a mistake. =) i also love how your kit sounds. i'm trying to fix mine up. as i read you use EC2 clears on the batter and G1 clears for your reso heads on your toms. i'm definitely gonna get them after hearing how great they sound (couldn't decide between them and a couple other types) but anyway, what do you use for your snare and bass drum? thanks.
YES the G1's are an OPEN head but the EC2's combined with them just gives a great mild sounding overtone to the drums some how. When I put this kit together I was looking for a specific TONE and this head combination managed to capture that. I don't claim to be the best player by any means I just play to have fun & relax BUT MOST people do write about the SOUND of my kit which IMO sounds incredible especially LIVE. Hope this helps your kit too ! Cheers
i'm working on it. yeah i'm only 15 so i don't have a job yet, and i'm flat out broke right now. i hope to have them within a month or so, depending. i.'m also trying to save up to go to bamboozle haha.
ITSX - On the snare is a standard WEATHERKING COATED AMBASSADOR on top and CLEAR AMBASSADOR on bottom, on Kick is an AQUARIAN "SUPERKICK 1" head kit slightly under-tuned with NO baffles or muffles inside "Wide open drum".
Hey Chris, I don't know what kind of kit you have but I use Evans G1 Clears on the reso side and after trial & error of a half dozen different skins these seem to fit MY sound & tone preference, give them a try is all I can suggest, works for me ;)
well, thats a good reason! Keep Rockin!

Do the heads make a difference to how it sounds, or is it just the overtone? And do you have to skin the heads on top and bottom of the drum?

you seem to favor you 10" and 12" toms.

also, aren't G1 clears very open? you were still able to get that little overtone? that is awesome.

do u use your evans heads on both batter and resonant ??
ditrubdvd 4 years ago
Yea I use them on both, usually the resonant is slightly loser and batter a bit tighter to get the sound i want.
