@playh0ckey Your accusation of me "posting bogus information" is itself bogus. Do you even know what a primary election is? Of course the Democratic party held a primary that year. Seven people ran and Theresa Obermeyer won. That primary debate was awesome craziness. I watched it on KAKM - still have the tape I made of it. Two others challenged Stevens in the Republican primary. The general election that November was between Obermeyer, Stevens and Jed Whitaker.

Ted was considered unbeatable in those days. Most politicians weren't willing to spend the money, time and effort on a losing battle. Without a viable opponent, Ted remained unbeatable.

Theresa beat out six others in the primary, giving you an idea of the lunacy level of the candidates. Also, Theresa already had the highest name recognition among the primary candidates - mostly due to her stalking Ted.

I knew that Stevens was essentially unbeatable, but I didn't think Alaskan Democrats were that laughable. Its a shame to see a great man go.

@TheOldManOCP She and a green candidate were the only two that went up against a highly popular senator. There was no need battle for a candidate in a primary that year. It is sad that Uncle Ted was killed last year, but as far as the Democratic Party selecting that nutbag, you couldn't have been further off. And you are aware aren't you that she is a Republican now? She became irate at the Democratic Party because they failed to support any of her ridiculous campaigns.

@RanchoSpenardo Obermeyer, who became a Republican in 2009, was the only one who ran that year as a Democrat. There were three candidates ----- Ted Stevens, Olbermeyer, and a Green candidate.  Why are you posting bogus information on here Spenardo? Stevens was unbeatable back then.

@TheOldManOCP - You asked how she became the Democratic candidate. Easy -- she was the only one who ran as a Democrat that year. Everyone in Alaska knew that the late Ted Stevens was going to win regardless of who he was up against. He was at his height of popularity then among every political party there is. It was simply by default that Obermeyer wound up as a candidate. By the way, I'm not certain how familiar you are with Alaska -- but Obermeyer became a Republican in 2009.
