  • no onions or garlic //////

  • this is not moroccan tagine where is tajin this is moroccan gamila lol

tajin mien food kooked in tajin

  • Made this dish for dinner and I think next time I might use different type of meat. Lamb was just so greasy and I can't stand the flavor of lamb.

The sauce and okra came together nicely.

Perhaps beef chunks would have been a better option.

  • I'll make this for dinner tonight.

    I just have one question...

I'm so used to using onions and garlic, I am a bit surprised this recipe calls for neither.

Would onions and garlic ruin it?

  • rhis looks delicious! i dont know if i should start with the tajine plum recipe or this one. i am more familiar with cooking with okra than plums, since it is a food eaten in the south.

  • lol! tough choice :-)

    they are both delicious!

  • Shokran gazilan alia

I am egyptian male pharmacist but I like cooking

I will be in marrakech in Augast for a week

any place to teach moroccon cuseine practically ?

    shokran again

  • Thinks

    Merci

  • you're most welcome! glad you enjoyed the video.

  • can we use chicken instead of meat in this dish?

  • This particular dish is made with meat, but there are other tajines made with chicken (tajine of chicken with carrots, tajine of chicken with caramalized apricots, etc.)

  • I have been waiting for a dish that uses okra as I'm not that familiar with cooking it. Thanks for posting this... I'll try this recepie too!

And yes, OZ has the best lamb, luckily I live there.... :D

  • Hi Alia. I don't like okra. Can you recommend another vegetable to substitute for the okra?

  • Hi Becky, this tajine recipe can be for both Okra or potatoes. Just peel, cut in quarters and boil the potatoes separately, then add them to the tomato sauce 15 minutes after returning the meat to the saucepan (at the end). I shared this dish with my american friend who does not like okra, and he was very surprised that it tasted so good. Maybe you should give it a try :-)

make both okra and potatoes, and share with a friend, this way you get to taste both :-)

    happy holidays!

  • My husband likes okra, maybe I'll make it for him. I don't make a lot of lamb dishes because the lamb here doesn't taste as good as the lamb in Morocco. It has a stronger flavor, at least the lamb does that I've eaten in California. Take care.

  • The lamb I buy from the supermarket is imported from Australia and is very similar to Moroccan lamb. You can make these dishes with beef as well. In Morocco we make the tajines with either lamb or beef. hope this helps :-)

  • do you use halal lamb or non-halal?

  • In Morocco, the meat is Halal as it's a mulsim country. if you live outside of Morocco, it would depend on one's religion and what is available.

  • Which supermarket, please?

  • You can find halal meat at local stores either middle-eastern or Indian stores, they usually sell halal meat if they include a butcher. for the supermarket, there is Stop and Shop that brings a selection of lamb from australia, but it's not halal. let me know if you live in NJ and I'll give you a list of local stores that have halal meat.

    cheers :-)

  • mmmmmmm nice, i like it

good work Alia and thank you for your help
