It reminds me of the constant wars in Africa. More importantly, it reminds me of African children who are forced to go to war. The AK 47 is a symbol of mindless killing... such as is in those wars. It is the gun that one of those children would have used thoughtlessly against their parents enemies.

Fact: Army Special Forces, SEALs and other elite US forces have employed the AK47 in numerous conflicts and continue to do so (they even have uniquely modified versions). This is due to the widely appreciated reliability of the design.
Not to sound like a nerd of any sort, but the AKs used by Special Forces (US) were AK74s (and its variants). I think they also used the AKM (a variant of that of course), but I'm not a 100% sure...

The AK-47 is, as was quoted by Clint Eastwood in Heart Break Ridge, the preferred weapon of your enemy. It is strange that you would choose that weapon as the symbol that the kitty would hold. You can read it many different ways but you have chosen to display the assault weapon of our enemy. Explain it as you might, it is still a statement against America and the west.
The AK-47 does hold an element of anti-Americanism and anti-westernism due to its usage by terrorist cells and of course the Soviet Union, that's true. However, it also has an element of liberation and fighting oppression due to its usage by rebel forces fighting against oppressive regimes. As Pinky says, its a complex image.

Let's assume bunny is in possession of the weapon because the big dogs have been kicking her butt daily. Invading her home, taking her money, eating her cat food and chasing her up trees. Lets assume she has exhausted all means to remedy this situation. Does she have the right to possess this weapon? What gives her the right? I guess it's because she has the weapon but I don't know.
Bunny was born with the right to own the weapon ( so she can protect herself, property etc ). Animals have fangs, and claws. It reminds me of the constant wars in Africa. More importantly, it reminds me of African children who are forced to go to war. The AK 47 is a symbol of mindless killing... such as is in those wars. It is the gun that one of those children would have used thoughtlessly against their parents enemies.
I think the main purpose of the design is to suggest that we are all aftraid of such a war. That deep down inside, we want peace. Even those who contradict with actions, like BUNNY.

I personally think my definition of it is better than that of the designers of the shirt.
It has more to do with the expression on the cat's face and the gun than the fact that it's a cat.
The cat looks scared to me. As if she doesn't want to hold the gun.
The gun is always a symbol for evil and war, so that is the first thing you see. But the cat's expression is that of fear and perhaps sadness that she is forced to hold the gun...
By who? It doesn't matter. Opressors are all the same.

Fact: Army Special Forces, SEALs and other elite US forces have employed the AK47 in numerous conflicts and continue to do so (they even have uniquely modified versions). This is due to the widely appreciated reliability of the design.

Not to sound like a nerd of any sort, but the AKs used by Special Forces (US) were AK74s (and its variants). I think they also used the AKM (a variant of that of course), but I'm not a 100% sure...

The AK-47 is, as was quoted by Clint Eastwood in Heart Break Ridge, the preferred weapon of your enemy. It is strange that you would choose that weapon as the symbol that the kitty would hold. The AK-47 does hold an element of anti-Americanism and anti-westernism due to its usage by terrorist cells and of course the Soviet Union, that's true. However, it also has an element of liberation and fighting oppression due to its usage by rebel forces fighting against oppressive regimes. As Pinky says, its a complex image.

Ok, lets review your answer for just a bit. It leads me into two more questions. First why is Pinky putting out complex images? I believe they are very simple images; the complex part is trying to make people believe there are other valid interpretations. "It's really a cat turning in a gun that it found!" It is an effort to misdirect the meaning of the image and their effort.

If Bunny's possession of the weapon is the result of her serving in the military then both Bunny and the weapon are tool used to resolve ownership of valuable resources most commonly land rich in resources (oil, gold copper, etc). Bunny's reward will be her survival. If Bunny fails to comply she would be executed, imprisoned, tortured, and/or dishonorably discharged depending on time and geographical location. I love that pinky quotes Malcolm X... People have had to STRUGGLE for peace since forever. sometimes that means violence. If one becomes the victim of aggression one has an absolute right to react. If you are under the potential threat being shot, for example, it makes sense to possess a gun. Things aren't so black and white. I simply read the t-shirt as a symbol of that struggle, like peace after revolution. And I like it.

I don't know. The meaning of the shirt is pretty ambiguous and can be taken in a lot of different ways. The AK-47, as was pointed out, is pretty controversial. After all, the Kmer rouge also had AK-47s. So did the contras. (It's a symbol of violence and oppression in some contexts.)
The farthest I would go is to say that bunny, simply by holding an AK-47, is transported into so many different contexts that could be discussed on the show. That in itself is an interesting concept.

If you make a generalization of intelligence, education, mental state, etcetera of a group of people you are doing two things.
First, you're making yourself look ignorant to the knowledge that said group is made up of individuals with their own minds.
Second, you are showing callous disregard for said individuals' feelings.
It sounds like you're trying to justify bigotry to me.
