After a few months the sand builds up and blocks the rivers mouth.

Dig a small channel out to the ocean, put a few humps in it.

Let the water start flowing.

After about 30 minutes you got some standing waves.

Waimea is on the North Shore of Oahu, which is one of the islands of Hawaii.. Its a very well known spot that is really easy to find.

@elvispiss its called a standing wave or anti dune. They form when the water is flowing fast enough that the sand on the bottom forms huge ripples. Just like when water is flowing at a slow rate and you get small ripples on the river bed, but this is just with a much faster flow of water so the ripples are huge!

in the other videos the lake wasnt full capacity or it was filmed before or after the (peak of the flow) thats when its biggest about 1 hour after it is opened ,and the water was full capacity at the time this was broke open giving it more pressure , the fuller the lake is the bigger the wave , i use to ride this all the time and this is by far the best it gets , the people where filming at the peak of the flow and the lake was full capacity.

I have a timeshare at the Hyatt and we travelled over there and were swimming when we saw some kids start digging out the sand and I decided "oh hell no I'm not getting in that" and after the water had been flowing its this disgusting brown tint that ruins the beauty of the water in the surrounding beach. We went back to the Hyatt side of the island and stayed. :D

@InfectedBeats You made the right choice too! All that plateau above waimea is agriculture, ie pig shit, cow manure run off. Just go Shark's cove or Keiki beach if this is flowing though, the current drifts south so those beaches are just barely far enough away.
